great detective, investigative, etc drama. it was entertaining with a nice mix of serious and funny moments. loved the main character, his love and excitement for food, and the way he kept on “falling” into new cases. predictable at times but enough twist and turns to keep it interesting. some interesting insights into human nature too. definitely could have been longer, but hopefully there will be a season 2.
“ Yes, the serpent or actually the dragon 🐉 is reliving its past which is also the ML Tan Tai Jin’s past life as Ming Ye. Remember Ming Ye is a dragon. The 4 main characters were in each others past lives. That’s why they were able to enter into the dream world together to relive their past.”
saw this comment on another board, and coming here for clarification. is the dream world their [tan tai jin, xi wu, bing chang, and xiao lin’s] past lives too or just the dragon’s past life? after reading some of the discussion area and comments here and on viki, i’m getting a tad confused.
unlike some others who chose to watch this for the romance, i chose to watch it because it was historical/costume/period and for park hyung sik, and it didn’t disappoint me on either of those points. somethings were predictable at times, but it was still an entertaining journey and decent ending. while i like and appreciate a good romance, it isn’t the main thing for me when watching some dramas, but i understand how it can be for some other people. if you’re in the mood for a cute lovey dovey type romance, this drama might disappoint you. if you enjoy friendships and romances that are grown from teamwork, partnership, camaraderie, protecting, encouraging, and supporting each other, then you might like this drama. it also has its share of political and court drama with some bad guys but also with some allies in the making.
just because something has 2 or more factors or tags in common doesn’t mean it’s going to be a similar to the other ones. if they were similar, then people would complain that they were too similar or that they essentially copied the other one except for maybe a few details. no drama or most anything in life is going to make everybody equally 100% happy. everybody has different tastes, opinions, preferences, etc, and that’s what makes us human and part of what makes life interesting. what matters is that we stay respectful of other’s opinions and preferences, and hopefully learn from each other and learn to appreciate and respect other’s thoughts and opinions. sorry to those that didn’t like this drama at all or in its entirety. i hope you have better luck on the other dramas you’re currently watching or watch in the future.
I know most of us started watching this drama for the romance genre but I swear even if the plot is more of a…
i started it because it was historical/costume/period and for park hyung sik. everybody has their own preferences and that’s part of what makes life interesting.
i’m on episode 23, but i just can’t get into this drama. i like the main and supporting actors in other dramas, and i like their interactions in this drama. i feel like there’s just something missing from this drama, and i don’t know what it is. i don’t look forward in anticipation for the next episodes. it’s just something i keep on in the background. at this point, i just want to know the ending and don’t even really care about the journey to get there. maybe i’ll feel differently about this later on though.
imo, it would be cool if they made a costume/period drama with an awesome female coroner like in the imperial coroner or miss truth mixed in as a team with the main female character of this drama and a smart, kick*ss female detective.
