My heart in ep 7! Does he know or does he not know?!?! Ahhhh Her expression after he walks away is so pained. I really am liking the interactions between the FL and ML. It's slow and has a lot of simmering tensions/passions.
I started because of PXR but she looks a lil different in here. I think she had a nose job. Hope it doesn't end…
At the start of the movie and in flashbacks it's a completely different actress, not PXR. That might be why she looks different. She has gained a bit of weight, but I personally think this is a much healthier look for her. In Goodbye my princess, she was required to act as an unhappy, depressed and stressed amnesiac princess so no wonder she was required to be thinner.
Serenity. We met in TLB forum. I am not sure it is the make up. Like Gizzy Ashe, I also noticed that her legs…
Lol I notice the foundation cause I have such a problem finding the right shade/tone normally for myself. I actually completely missed the lipstick in TLB. I saw her makeup improved a bit in episode 8 when she was in that silver dress, but it reverted back to the horrible foundation again. I don't know if it's an endorsement deal, but if it is that would explain a lot. I noticed that there was a shot of clarins on her bathroom vanity, so there is some skincare product placement. She is the Clarin's ambassador in China so it makes sense. I definitely wish production had done something about that foundation, but unfortunately it's too late. Oh well I will try and keep with the series. Modern drama's aren't really my cup of tea but currently still waiting for a bunch of historical dramas to come out. The serious tone is refreshing while still being light hearted. I am glad that Dilraba is using her own voice instead of her dubber here.
Every one looks a bit pale not just her. Her legs are the same colour. Maybe its your phone or laptop resolution?…
Criticism is appreciate as long as it's respectful. :) True Corvid certainly has made everyone a paler version of themselves. But Dilraba's face looks bloodless and unnatural compared to the rest of her. The foundation is unhelpful and doesn't completely fit with her normal skin tone is what I feel. You can just see it in particularly when compared to her hands, neck and ears. I don't think it's my laptop resolution.

Hey WK1, I remember. Those were good times. :) My guess is that she has been purposefully asked to look as pale as possible for this series. CORVID certainly hasn't helped either. But most likely she has been staying out of the sunlight and obsessively using SPF, as well as probably using some beauty skincare whitening products. Her natural colour is most definitely not that pale, but she could have achieve whiter skin by doing the above. I have mixed blood like her and I can look white by doing all of the above. It's particularly obvious after winter. Just look at her interviews for TLB and you can tell her skin is not that as pale as it is for this series. Her TLB interviews I think would have occurred just recently after her shooting of You are my Glory. I also think the movie director is probably using some form of lighting, makeup, and possibly photo shop to achieve the pale white colour on screen. The colour is just jarring to see on screen. I understand the obsession to be as white as possible for a lot of Asian's is like a beauty standard, but I just feel here it's gone a tad too far for my taste. Her face looks to me too bloodless and not completely natural. Also it's hard to get over the fact that her hands, neck, and legs in the show are a slightly more natural white colour with the more usual normal Asian skin under tones than her face. Even her ears are more natural coloured, I feel. XD I never thought I'd be saying that about an actress before. To me I almost feel like there is this obvious makeup line around her face (so yeah foundation issues here in my opinion). I have asian friends who purposefully choose lighter skin toned foundations cause they want to look whiter, so it's not an uncommon practice, and it can look perfectly natural, but this is the first time I have felt the colours to be so unnaturally jarring. It's obvious when there are close ups of her talking on her cell phone and her hands are near her face in certain lighting, etc. I know I'm being a bit nit-picky but I am a stickler for natural looking makeup.
Dilraba is beautiful, but I do have to say her makeup here is extremely pale white. It is an adjustment to watch her have such obviously almost unnatural skin colour.
I love Dilraba, and I'm sure her character has a lot of pros, but in episode 3 when Jing Jing basically tricked…
Agree! She basically manipulated events to get him to come over. Not the most comfortable reasoning to get these two to come together. I mean what she did would be something a stalker would do. Also for safety reasons, for not just her, but also Yu Tu it's not exactly the best idea to go over to a strangers place even if it's a girl. Everything about their first meet up is too forcefully contrived for my taste. Also product advertisement was so obvious that it was just a bit irritating.
I do like that they made Jingjing the one to initiate contact though. She's the successful career woman that isn't afraid to go after what she wants. I appreciate that she's rather different from the more traditional female celebrity lead. Just not sure I appreciate her underhandedness.
Finally confession in ep 16! And I'm getting confused on what trigger the body swapping. As they got back to their…
The ml and fl hypothesise that their bodies switch when they are under extreme stress from an external factor. It makes sense for their first switch in the elevator and their third because of the car, but I find it hard to believe that theory based on the second switch with just a kiss on the bench.
it's important because although it is a fictional story, there are real historical events and people as the background.
It is a concern, but is that really something the NRTA should be policing? I argue that the parents' of these fans have a larger influence and responsibility to educate their own children properly. Furthermore, these individuals may or may not have mental issues that should be looked at by proper psychologist, especially if they are delusional enough to believe that killing themselves will allow them to transmitigate. It's just awful to see this. The NRTA is only actively able to influence what viewers watch, not how they outright process what they view and believe in to such an extreme. I feel that they should think about looking at other means of policing or changing fan culture other than through the NRTA, it would perhaps be more effective. Sorry but I am not familiar with the term bbjx, what does it mean? Is that the drama bu bu jing xin?
To be frank any kinda rating scale is highly dependent on the audience's personal preference. Douban and Mydramalist…
I am the same. However, not everyone feels a connection between the main leads in every drama. Some people drop drama's like this one cause they don't feel like there is a connection. It's your opinion and personal preference that there was no connection between the main leads in TLB and I respect that. I did feel the connection between the main leads and found there acting to be believable and enjoyed the drama. This is my personal opinion and preference. I think you should choose your words more respectfully and wisely when commenting about other's who do not share the same opinion as you. People have a right to rate however they want to rate, and a right to their own opinions and feelings regarding a drama; you should respect this. Calling people 'weird' or stereotyping international viewers as 'shallow' just based on a difference of opinion seems over the top, insulting and rude, as well it isn't a necessary part of your argument that this drama is deserves a better rating. It does does deserve a better rating, however I don't find the characters to be overly unique or different from many stereotypical roles in other dramas.
it's important because although it is a fictional story, there are real historical events and people as the background.
I understand that as people can be really stupid unfortunately. Lol the amount of people that misquote history or believe what they watch in dramas or read in fiction really happened seems so unbelievable to me. I can't compute such foolishness.
it's important because although it is a fictional story, there are real historical events and people as the background.
But why do people feel it's not okay to be historically inaccurate in fiction? Because they have unrealistic expectation of historical fiction or is it simply cause they are unwilling to accept that people can creatively make use of a historical setting to tell a story? I'm not saying that they have to be okay with it and certainly the NRTA doesn't represent the standard of everyone (The go got squid scandal is very much a political problem and understandable considering the current problems between China and the US). It's unfortunately true but I think because there is so much attention on large productions such as Ruyi and TLB that they end up having the bear the brunt of such forms of criticism, which feels somewhat discriminatory. I just don't find such criticism to be relevant as historical dramas to me are like a taste of history for entertainment purposes, not educational material.
it's important because although it is a fictional story, there are real historical events and people as the background.
Yes and I understand, history is the foundation of our civilizations. But I understand and can distinguish between fiction and non-fiction. Also considering the NRTA has allowed the TLB to air just like it did Ruyi, means they understand that this disclaimer is applicable in fiction. It's just some reviewers that are unwilling and unable to accept historical inaccuracies in historical drama. Personally that's alright, it's just a pity that these people can't detach their attachment to history from their viewing of a fictional work. It's just hard to accept when a reviewer goes to the extreme and builds up this idealised image of the Tang Dynasty and in the tone of their review considered TLB or any other historical fiction piece to be offence simply for being historically inaccurate just is almost like a slap in the face of the author's creativity. Heck lots of web novels are highly historically inaccurate but don't receive as much backlash. People that know they don't like or don't appreciate historical inaccuracies should already have decided that TLB wasn't there cup of tea. It's an interesting criticism, but I don't find it helpful at least not from my perspective.
Pretty much doesn't accurately follow the manhua from episode 1! Big plot lines are still relatively the same,…
True I completely forgot as he's only been introduced a few times and hasn't really had much of a part in the manhua. Thanks for pointing out my mistake! :)
Well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I really like this drama, but I still think that The Long Ballad…
Quantity is not indicative of good quality. Personally I find ratings highly inaccurate as my personal preference don't match with every other viewer out there. It does make looking for dramas to watch rather frustrating especially when the rating, of a drama that I might find fantastic, is rated extremely low.
I'm not familiar with Douban scoring. Is the score based on critics reviews or factor in audience voting to come…
Anyone can rate or review on Douban, not just critics. It's like RottenTomato or My dramalist but the Chinese version. Lol TLB has been trashed on Douban for so many reasons. Nonetheless I am glad to hear the drama seems to have done quite well in both China and abroad, even with the backlash from the terrible rating. The work from the actors, director, and production crew is done phenomenally well. Long live TLB indeed!
