Did anyone understand what was going on in episode 33? What's going on with Mimi Guli? And what does the Khutan…
It's the Sui conspiracy arc. Madame Jinse is an agent of Khutan and she was sent to kidnap the crown prince and in general to make trouble for the Tang Dynasty. She does this cause her father used to be a Sui Dynasty supporter and was killed by the Li family. The episode starts off with her being captured by Duruhui. From her capture he finds out that it's the remnants of supporters of the Sui Dynasty that are making trouble and Leyan comes up with the idea to help clear the city of the network of hidden Sui supporters. Jinse suicides from poison in her prison cell at the end. Basically Mimi Guli is also a spy for the Khutan, it's not in the episode, but in the manhua she follows the Khutan's orders because the Khutan has her brother (I've heard that this hasn't change in the show either). The boy that she found and brought back to her tent was also an agent/slave of the Khutan that was infected with what looks like chickenpox. He was sent to remind her to follow orders when the time comes and also to spread the disease. The ending with the Khutan is basically her initiating the plan to kill the Khan and install her son as his successor. She hates A'sun because she feels he is a threat to her son's succession and is driving a wedge between the Eagles and the Khan camps currently. She also finds out what happens to Jinse and her other agents. It's revealed that she has purposefully ordered Jinse to bully her around in front of everyone so that she gets the sympathy of the rest of the tribe and that she's responsible for ultimately leading to the death of Aye'er (A'sun's foster mother). Basically she's the snake that's been hiding in the grass the entire time and has now decided to strike!
Does anyone who understand the raw previews of 37-42 know if Changge's origin has been changed from the manhua?
From what I can tell, I don't think Changge's origin has been changed. She is the princess of Mobei, at least that's what's shown in the preview for ep 40. But her relation to Pusa is unknown currently (in the manhua she's his niece as her mother was his sister). But seriously can I just say how utterly delighted that they included PUSA! I didn't think they would add this storyline to the show but kudos for sneaking it in.
Love the conversation between A'Sun and that smart official about what ChangGe meant to ASun. Hahaha ... A'Sun…
Love how there were so many subtle cues between Changge and A'Sun, like the 'don't ever leave then' or the 'I didn't agree to spend the rest of my life with you'. HAHA the brats entry into the cute couples moment was just perfect! They're so in sync when teaching the brat a lesson.
All shittier dramas have higher ratings in MDL tbh. The rating in here doesn't have any authenticity.
This might be because good dramas have more people watching and review so the diversity in opinion and rating leads to lower scores. Versus shitty dramas have a lot more limited viewership and the people going to watch those shows tend to already be inclined to enjoy the content. But I do agree, it is very hard to get a feel for a drama based on the ratings in MDL.
The rate on doubon still at 6.3. We are more at half way and the rate is not going up
I feel like the doubon rating system is intentionally weighted towards low ratings. Also it feels like a very different platform base from mdl. A lot of the high ratings are for those movies/shows that are very artsy, with social criticisms or serious in tone, less so the kinds of shows that are more purely created for entertainment. Feels like as well a lot of the reviews come from more inside the industry and are highly critical of stuff like production and screenwriting.
Kekeke...his character is of a weak man. He has no backbone. He is ok if everything is normal and ok. Even if…
Haha thankful for small favours in life then. At this point I've literally just decided to not set any standards of expectation for Shuyu at this point, helps me enjoy watching the drama more.
Fat shaming then joking about it is common in entire Asia.
I know I am intimately acquaintances with this as the only half-asian half-white child in my asian family. Struggles with being bigger boned, taller, and just weighing more than my cousins was my entire adolescence summarised. Just wish they didn't do this in shows as a form of comedy. Feels rather insensitive to not just the actress playing the part, but also to everyone else who has to deal with this sociocultural issues. Also it wasn't as essential to the plot line like in My Heroic Husband, which I think dealt with this issue more tastefully. Alibi still this trope as a form of comedy maybe shouldn't be used anymore or at least should be more considerate.
saaaaame and when it finish I will be glad and upset that it end
Nooo I can't think of it ending yet! It's tooo upsetting. I know after this drama I'm going to be in that phase where nothing will satisfy me cause it just can't live up to the epicness of the Long Ballad.
I watched episodes 22 and 25 last night. And I would like to say something to those who were so angried after…
Exactly! If people actually took the time to empathise and take a walk in the FL's shoes, I think they would understand her actions more, instead of labelling them as "wrong". She's been through such a traumatic loss and betrayals. Her entire world has basically been upturned. I get that because she is such a successful compartmentalised and 'seemingly put together' person that people don't automatically empathise and sympathise with her point of view unlike Sun and Leyan. But the lack of empathy or disregard for her mental state by many because they feel Sun has been wronged, just simplifies and lacks understanding of the chain of events. Yes she seems overconfident and reckless, but that was her choice to go along with a sound plan (just wish she had been more suspicious towards Shuer's mother). From another perspective she would have been considered a hero for risking her life to free the general. This whole blame game is just ridiculous. Everyone is responsible for their actions, but the consequences of those actions, in this case, are not just one persons fault! Like @mimi0108 said events were like a 'snowball effect'. The circumstances and underlying factors compounded the situation to result in the unfortunate tragedy of Sun's mother. Definitely suspicious of Shuer's mother. Feels like this plot by her was also a way of weakening her khan's hold over Sun and his hold over the Turkish army to place her son in a better position to inherit.
So glad you pointed out how Sun felt bad for blaming her @Dragnelia! When that scene was happening I just remember being so shocked and hurt for Changge. Like those are the words said in haste and grief that shouldn't be ever said to a traumatised person (especially someone you loves and cares about). But it's understandable as those words were said in the heat of the moment. His regret for those words make me just love and respect A'sun even more! He's living and shaping up to be the perfect man for Changge in so many ways.
Hey does anybody know of other dramas with a romance dynamic like Hao Du and Li Le Yan where the enemy henchman/guard/whatever…
Queen In Hyun's Man has somewhat of a similar romance dynamic, although it's a time travel plot. The FL isn't a princess but a modern day woman that's not particularly smart, while the ML is a smart official that time travel back and forth and falls for her. Faith is another one, the ML is the guard to the king, while the FL is a doctor that time travels back in time. Lol I don't know why I seem to be only recalling time travel dramas right now Sorry not sure if this helps
Was I the only one that was slightly discomforted by the joke made about the overweight girl in ep 5? I get it that the show is comedy, but somewhat discomforted about laughing at the expense of a poor girl because she's overweight. I hope this is not considered a spoiler, if it is please tell me and I'll check the spoiler tag.
He's seriously the most unnecessary character here. He deserves a good spanking.
The manhua doesn't really have any of the other imperial family characters (even Leyan isn't in the story, at least I don't recall). Li Shimin is seen and mentioned at the very start, but after that is never really a part of the story as a character. Although with the plot of the manhua somewhat headed back toward Luoyang and the imperial palace they could be included possibly, it's just the manhua is on hiatus now so nobody knows what will happen.
