The cases are not interesting enough. It was so different with various cases from Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty S1-S2. Maybe it's more about great execution + good editing. SToTD is a detective drama with slight romance but their cases were executed well with more professional approach so it became more interesting. Plus this drama didn't spend time to build the romantic moments between the leads. The tension were there but it was not executed well. So it's like half baked. I can say this drama is about 85% unclear investigation + 10% romance + 5% politics. People are also complaining about FL attitude in later episodes.
I am waiting for romance mostly. I love DYX style in this drama. But I can't help but skip some scenes.

It's a middle budget one. But i can see their execution of drama is not that well. They have enough money as full length drama but they still can't use them in a right way. I said this because I already saw so many lower budget dramas + short dramas that have better quality than this one.

Yes. ML Suicide is not a right thing especially he still has a daughter. I can understand the writer decision about FL's sacrifice even though it's not the best solution if we want a happy ending. However, It was needed for the revival of ancient tree.
But in the other side, I also can understand ML feeling at the time. He was so desperate and empty. I rewatched this drama many times so i can see the emptiness in his eyes before suicide. He lost his wife once, and now he lose her again. He said that finally he came to her as her only lover, not a leader of clan, not anyone that people were expecting him to be. He came to fulfill her wishes to watch the snow together again in the end. I can't help but crying in this scene. I know it's a fault but i know there is no way to end this story without tragic ending. There is no escape in that reality.
Their love was so deep and it melted my heart. The ending broke me completely because I felt so sad but I also can feel how tragically beautiful their love was.
