True.. i hope her smart brain is working fine. Lol yeah many people have said the same things on youku bullet…
I LOVE LLTG, but LBY was fully conscious when he made the decision to abandon her. He even said he didn’t regret it when he recovered and she heard his words before the Emperor. YZJ was half dead and needed to be carted off by his friend. When he wakes up, his first thought is to go to her. Again, as much as I love LLTG, I truly feel the sincerity and concern from the ML here. He’s not a general with years of calculating military training experience. He’s a character whose hands shake when he wants to kiss her.

I do believe those who “know” the demise of the ML from watching ALL 40 episodes should use the Spoiler Tag when sharing, but at the same time also spill how many more kissing scenes between the leads we’re going to get moving forward. That post does not require a spoiler tag. 🙃

Dwan Yu never abandoned YZJ in his bad times but he abandoned her completely when she lost her Shrimp and other…
Technically, he didn’t leave her alone. He was carted off unconscious by his best friend whose sole mission was to save him. Upon wakening, YZJ’s first words and first concern was Duan Wu. Despite his numerous wounds, the most pain he showed was thinking he’d lost her. Numerous attempts were also made by his friend to find her. The trailers are not showing the complete picture of ep. 18-20. If you watch the entire episodes, it gives a clearer picture of exactly what took place after the chaotic scene with Shrimp and her friends, and the reasons behind it.

So what do you want him to in that situation? Despite knowing all the dangers you want him to keep DW with him.…
If you follow his character, his actions are consistent with always trying to make her stronger. The noble idiocy trope? If by pushing her away to 1. Keep her safe and 2. Give her independence to start her business and learn to survive in the harsh world they’ve both encountered, then give this to me every time.

Damn!! So much to take in at 1 a.m. Even with all the angst, I’m dying for the next episodes. The acting by both leads during the rain scene was incredible. The pain to hold on and the pain to let go. And just like that, Monday just became a sick day.

i feel so extremely bad for yzj. How can one go through this much misfortune and still stay sane.. Lost his parents…
Same! His character arc is a chaotic heartbeat, and he's sharing it with us all. The scene when he finds his 'cure' has died, the lost look afterward and then the endearing reflections with his beloved...they all gutted me. This drama dives so deep into a character's journey and development, we feel like a family member instead of a bystander/watcher.

Love your line, "Is my desire to love her stronger than my fear of losing her?" It captures such a universal struggle.…
Yes, exactly. He does fight with his weaknesses (her) and his unyielding resolve. So well put. Thank you! I'm such a character driven drama watcher/reader. I think this is why this series resonates deeply with me.

Zhao Lusi's HE track record is really good. I'm betting on this for TSOPG.

Because they had around 21 eps to fill after ep 19, we get to see big misunderstanding around DW and YZJ. I hope…
I think the understanding will be resolved quickly. The healing with another character growth of these two characters is what I'm really looking forward to seeing.

My thoughts after episode 18:

A Social Media conversation between the leads:
Liu Yuning: Eyes can lie. I hope Duan Wu will believe in her own heart. May you be safe and happy
Zhao Lusi's Reply: See you in Yangzhou (in Revenge) (credit: https://x.com/wonwoncity/status/1855124576495452558)

To me this is very telling because YZJ knows her heart the best. He knows it's broken, and it's been shattered into a million pieces. Her revenge is not solely from a misunderstanding. In the middle of her chaos and seeing her 'family' die, she saw the one person she trusted fire an arrow at her. Her reasoning process has been compromised. My mom lost her husband a year ago Thanksgiving, and even after a year, her reasoning process is still in shambles. It's been very hard to watch.

So, for me, Duan Wu's is not a simple, 1-dimensional character (thank you Zhao Lusi for your amazing acting)., and her revenge is not just a misunderstanding. It's a combination of anger/confusion/fear/loneliness(abandonment). She's lost so much in such a little amount of time. Her heart and mind are disconnected by what she witnessed. 'Revenge' for Duan Wu may be her only connection between her heart and mind. How she comes to piece them back together is going to be fascinating to watch.

I also believe YZJ is struggling so much with how to love Duan Wu and how to keep her safe at the same time. You can see the pain in his eyes before he walks back to tell her to leave Yangzhou in ep 20. Because I've watched the previous episodes where he seems to care more for her than himself, this doesn't feel tropey. It feels authentic because the writers did a good job of showing us his true character/nature toward her before this scene and Liu Yuning did a good job conveying them.

So in the episodes moving forward, I look forward to seeing how he answers the question: Is my desire to love her stronger than my fear of losing her? Stay tuned, I know I am!

Yes, I’m guessing the same. He does not want her in the middle of this.
I love how his character remains constant. In the beginning, he protected her by helping her stand on her own two feet. Here, he’s protecting her by not wanting to see her suffer again. I go back to episode 16 where she comes to rescue him. He cared more about her safety than his.
