There's no proper explanation, but I feel it is because LZD was the last person ZC was thinking of when he fell off the cliff (or maybe he was jealous of him and had some "if only I was in his place, I would never suffer" kind of thought).

Honestly, I dropped at 18 because I was absolutely not interested in ZC or Team Speed, and especially ZC and his romance with the manager. I was more interested in LZD and his rise in the racing world, and his friendships with other racers and even the cop. LZD was originally doing a much better job by himself and ZC and the Team Speed absolutely did nothing to change his life or future. In fact, it felt like ZC stole LZD life to correct his own mistakes (and he never even cared how it affects the guy whose life/future he is shamelessly stole).

Same. Not only actor doesn't pass for a 24yr old, but I think the script-writer is the only asian bad at maths, because future Zhang Chi is supposed to be 30+, so there's no way ZC 5 yrs in the past is 24. He is 26-28.
Not between the main leads. Zhang Chi (the one in coma) has a past regret that he let his crush (the manager) leave back then. So, that's one of the things he wants to correct after transmigration. He gets past Zhang Chi and the manager officially together.
LDZ is teased with a female cop (and honestly I was shipping them) but we are shown that the cop had a fiance who was struggling singer (and it's sorta hinted that he unalived himself). So, obviously no romance for them.
