ok, in realistic scenario. even though she hates him she should have tried to find the answers of "WHY" instead,…
that's what i also found so unrealistic. any girl who was actually in love with her boyfriend would try to find out the truth of why he suddenly changed and wanted to break up. the fact that she didn't is kinda weird

I totally agree. That video call was so clear that ML is bawling his eyes out. I can understand that FL is happy…

yes since he's open with his other female friend, he obviously would share his burdens with his girlfriend but he felt like he couldn't bc money and debt is such a touchy subject for her but then what's the point of a relationship if you can't talk to your gf about your struggles..

I caught up until ep 18 and honestly it's a trainwreck of a show. This feels like Mexican telenovela LOL
the things I do for actors who I like....SIGH
But I also want to say that I personally don't really blame Gang Yang for the way he handled that whole breakup situation. I saw a lot of discussion here and now that I've watched that part - 1. it was ridiculous seeing Gang Yang literally a crying mess on the phone with his girlfriend who acts totally oblivious and only cares about her own life..what kind of support would she actually give him if he had told her the truth? If she had been less self-absorbed, maybe his reaction would've been: I have to tell my girlfriend, she'll support me at least emotionally. But in their relationship Gang Yan was always the one who was cheering her on, supportive and a provider. The moment he lost that "function" he felt like he couldn't give her anything and would drag her down. In a healthy relationship, this would be the moment where you can rely on your partner for some help or support but they didn't have a healthy partnership...it was one-sided.
The one thing that doesn't make sense is why is he even in love with her?

i saw they'll be "enemies" so i'm team gan yang :> wish he'd meet a woman who actually treats him well and let her go but i doubt that will happen

I read some comments about how this drama spent 'too many episodes' for the characters's past story. The story…
the issue isn't the flashback but the boring storyline. Nobody would complain about the flashback if the story was actually engaging and fun to watch - as in the example of Lighter & Princess. But here, there was no need for so many filler episodes, everything could be packed into 2-3 episodes, or cut into smaller scenes like in TFF. The way it was done ended up being boring...I'm skipping the majority of scenes just to get through to the interesting part and so far - at ep 12 - it's still flat.

why does this have such a low rating, genuinely asking? I have yet to start it.
I'd say: the storyline is bland, nothing new, too many clichés and the flashback takes way too long while not having many exciting things happen. The FL isn't very likeable, chemistry between leads is so-so, and so far the story is underwhelming. If you aren't a fan of the leads, I'd say it's a skip

Too many issues in this script, ML still trying to eat off his L&P era. Maybe the poor guy is getting typecasted…
did you even watch L&P, his character there is the exact opposite to this one...embarrasing comment, especially as he has been cast in multiple different roles in upcoming projects

I'm trying to watch this for Chen Feiyu but the FL is one of the least likeable FLs I've ever come across. I'm a girls girl and I love flawed characters, especially women, but here the FL was so badly written that it's really difficult to sympathize with her. She's so one-dimensional with no actual personality besides being obsessed with money and career, and she's extremely self-centered and selfish. I've only watched up until ep 12 but the scenes with the apartment were honestly so frustrating! I was glad the ML finally snapped and said something to her. No amount of "money trauma" justifies being so self-focused. She's not capable of being in a relationship, because in a healthy dynamic you have to be flexible and meet your partner halfway and make compromises. Their relationship is absolutely unhealthy. He is the simp who will leave a business meeting as soon as his girlfriend sends a message, whereas she won't even contact him after he was upset with her - rightfully so - for getting mad at him for being extremely generous and kind towards her with the apartment situation. I honestly still don't understand why ML is even in love with her, besides her being pretty? She doesn't do anything for him, she doesn't support him, when they're on the phone it's always about her problems. Honestly, the only reason I'm still sticking to this is because of Chen Feiyu...the show is really bad.

Are we really supposed to believe that a near-genius level person could not think of a better revenge plan than…
I get your points but I think this wasn't a storyline focused on revenge but more on other messages. And there's also the question of what is the perfect revenge - that will differ from person to person. For some people, the best revenge is to find happiness, to find peace. Permanently disabling or killing someone is "an eye for an eye" type of revenge, but that doesn't mean it's the "perfect" revenge. I think in Li Xun's case he was always focused on seeing "the bigger picture" (he mentioned that many times), besides being keen on not wasting his time on meaningless things. He was also idealistic and wanted to create programs that could do some good for society. His goal was to get the original L&P back, which had been focused on medical programs, and as soon as he got some money into that small smartup with the games, he shifted the company back to his original plan. That was something that Gao could never replicate and why should Li Xun waste his time to play cat and mouse with Gao when he was never in it for the money and prestige, like Gao had been? I think Gao was the most pathetic character and he build up this huge company out of insecurity, while Li Xun didn't need a fancy huge company to feel "good enough". In my opinion, Li Xun got his revenge because even after he went to prison and was an ex-convict - basically, the lowest in society - he was able to get back up on his feet in a short amount of time using only his wits; no connection, no money, nothing. Just by being himself and not even bothering that much with Gao, he got to a place that Gao couldn't go on his own bc Gao lacks the idealism and the vision for it.
About FZJ, I agree that his background wasn't explained well enough but to me he seemed like those guys who snatch onto powerful people and do lots of ass kissing to get what they want.
I also wonder if the director/writer possibly thought they could get a 2nd season or something, since they left some things totally open in the end, like what happens with Li Xun's career, he was just starting; what happened with Zhu Yun's parents once they find out she got married; what happened with L&P after Gao went abroad, like did he just quit? I think there was enough open stuff for a 2nd season but they're pretty rare so idk if the writer's did this on purpose or what was the reason for leaving so much without a clear ending...

Are we really supposed to believe that a near-genius level person could not think of a better revenge plan than…
Maybe I worded it confusingly, sorry! You asked what his exact goal was, and basically the goal was to purposefully get into trouble by beating the shit out of the guy (which he did in an irrational way, like no weapons, not much damage done besides the eye). He purposefully did it in front of an audience...I think the writers made it pretty clear that he wanted to be seen and to be charged with a crime. That's how I see it and I think the writers didn't explain many things and just let viewers figure it out themselves. For example, the parts where Li Xun keeps asking people to pick things up from the floor for him; on first watch I just thought this was to show his arrogance but on later rewatches I noticed it was bc of his spine injury, that movement caused him pain, so him being too proud to show weakness he'd rather ask ppl to pick up stuff for him...he'd rather seem arrogant than weak to others. But the writers didn't fully spell it out, so people either got it or didn't..
That's the problem when writers don't make things too obvious, some things might not be fully clear to everyone and people have to figure it out by themselves, it can be risky but I personally enjoy it when it's a little less "in our faces" and more nuanced :) but I also understand that some ppl might see it differently and not like it.
But anyways, yes he could've definitely planned out a more elegant revenge and caused more damage to the guy but he was too emotional at that point and ended up doing it the fastest way, but ultimately it didn't matter bc his goal was to get caught anyway.
