I'm a bit confused by the low rating ? It has a very similar setup to Our Beloved Summer, which was totally hyped (I didn't like that one and gave up on it) - I actually thought this was a loose remake of OBS. I've only watched 2 episodes of Go Back Lover tbf, so maybe the low rating will be explained by the next few episodes, but so far I really enjoyed it. The divorce ceremony of the two friends was honestly hilarious! I feel like that should totally be a thing lol Also the FL & ML have good chemistry and they're both so good looking!
I'm watching it only for the ML, he's really charismatic and his acting is very natural. The FL has too much of an Instagram / beauty filter face for a costume drama in my opinion (no hate, she's obviously beautiful but some actresses' faces are out of place in period pieces...). Her acting is okay but imo the ML in this case steals the show but around episodes 20+ he sort of appears less and less. I'm on ep 24 and I'm getting bored with the storyline. Not sure if I should keep watching :/ Btw I love how feminist this drama is! Glad that there are more and more dramas with very smart and feminist FL <3
why did she struggle about money so much after her divorce. Is the father not supposed to pay child support? And…
The son lived with the father because the father had a better income and had the power to get custody. Since the son wasn't her dependent, she didn't get any financial support from the ex-husband and she basically gave up her studies to marry him, so she didn't have a degree to get a better paying job.
Can't wait to see Park Hyung Sik in a darker role. He's a really underrated actor imo, his acting is very natural and he has amazing chemistry with his co-actors.
omg I loved Story of Kunning Palace, thanks for giving this info now I'm even more excited for this drama
right!! Do you have any dramas that have a similar vibe to SOKP to recommend? I recently watched Story of Pearl Girl and loved it, now I'm searching for other enemies-to-lovers dramas
I'm on Ep 14 and I'm thinking about dropping :/ at first I really enjoyed everything about the show, but once the ML and FL are on good terms I felt like their chemistry was lacking and the storyline is dragging a lot... I'm interested in the sub-storyline of Li Tong with the princess, they could be an enemies-to-lovers trope as well that would be fun to watch but I have a feeling it won't really develop into that.. Not sure if I should keep watching or not
Ok i'm here again bc I rewatched some parts before moving on but I was thinking about how this whole poison thing that ML goes through is kind of like a metaphor of how his drive for revenge ended up quite literally fatally poisoning him - throughout the drama the FL repeatedly tells him that he shouldn't live his life just for revenge and that he should move on - and in comparison the FL, although wronged as well, is able to heal and isn't obsessed with revenge as he is. So in the end she's stronger than him because she was able to let go of the past and look forward and build something for herself. The ML on the other hand build everything just for the sake of revenge. Anyways, women>>>> Also their last scene together was so well acted by them, i loved it.
Also does anyone have recommendations of similar enemies-to-lovers dynamics in dramas (c-drama or k-drama)? I feel like SOPG finally gave me some realy enemies-to-lovers trope, would love some more
I LOVED it. I love storylines that are a bit more dark and "realistic" (as realistic as a C-Drama can be, that is) and I loved the female self-empowernment message that this drama has. To me it didn't feel slow at all, there was always something happening, some new setback or danger or even tragedy, so I don't really know why some felt it was slow. If you're looking for a romance-focused show than you might find it slow because it focused on the girl and her resilience, but nevertheless I found it to be very emotional and the romance had a bittersweet note from the beginning so either you enjoy that type or not. I think it's just a matter of personal taste. The writing at times was messy and didn't make sense but I can overlook that if I'm still interested in the whole storyline. As for the acting, this was my first ZLS C-drama - I tried watching Love in the galaxy but I stopped at the first or second ep (will go back and try again) - and I have to say she found a new fan in me because I'm so impressed at how good her acting is. She's a very natural actress, she makes you really feel for her, when she cries you can't help but cry too and she doesn't seem to be afraid of looking messy which I always appreciate in actors. There were a few times when she was simply staring and I could feel her emotions, it was incredible. Also she's so cute and pretty. I will now watch her other dramas bc she's just too charismatic!! As for the male lead I also thought he was great for this role. He played the parts when the ML was still a villain very well and even when he turned into a house-husband he was still natural at it lol. I often feel like some actors have a hard time pulling off the broody and villain types without being awkward, but he did a great job. Also he seems to be like 1,90cm and the 2ML too they were both so tall! Anyways, this was fun. I love crying lol
Also the FL & ML have good chemistry and they're both so good looking!
