Title Hu Tong
I think I will like this one since it is about communism =) I notice that people don't like that dramas discuss…
same thoughts! They're watching Chinese dramas and then complain about it showing communism ? There are hundreds of movies depicting propaganda (and lies) about colonialism, capitalism, war-mongering, imperialism but people don't complain and also don't decrease a movie's rating bc of that...

yes that makes sense thank you. I saw someone on reddit also saying this is his way of helping her which I understand but I thought some of the things he said to her were just outright mean and cruel but that's his flawed logic I guess!

yes I love the clash between them too but I was just thinking he's too cruel to her without any explanation but yeah what you say makes sense - I mean not really, it's still a flawed logic but that's his POV i guess

Ok I'm really curious, so how did it go?
I actually think it's not that bad and it has an interesting storyline but unfortunately I have a hard time with the male lead's acting. I don't enjoy him in any drama so far ๐Ÿ˜– he was the reason I couldn't get into alchemy of souls

Title The Story of Pearl Girl Spoiler
Hi everyone who already watched it can you please help me understand this part(read spoiler below)
I'm on Ep 23 and I'm now getting confused as to why the male lead is so determined to ruin Duanwu's plans to become a merchant and stay in the city. He told her to leave Yangzhou and I first understood it was because he was worried that she might get caught up with him and the Blood Dragon gang again who killed all her friends. But then all these last episodes there's literally no sign of that gang and it doesn't seem like they're even in the city. So I'm really confused as to why the male lead js putting up this faรงade of being mean to her and making her life difficult? I know it's based on a novel and perhaps it's explained better in the novel or maybe I just didn't get it or missed something. Does anyone understand this part or is it just bad writing/plot hole?

Not so happy. The guy is a good actor and handsome but somehow also boring (to me at least), he is not hot and…
bai lu literally has chemistry with every single co-actor she's ever worked with, including the girls. also she has previously acted with him in the Kunning Palace, he was the second lead and they have great chemistry

I'm just catching up but am i the only one who got really pissed at how hae young is supposed to be this woman with an active sex life but then after giving a 28 year old man a peck on the lips asks him if it was his first kiss?? and says sorry for "stealing" his first kiss???? Like am i supposed to believe that a guy who's almost 30 and who everyone is calling handsome and his friend even said he was very popular with girls at their school has never kissed a woman before ? ๐Ÿ˜ i'm sorry but this thing that kdrama writers have for insisting the MLs have never been in a relationship before/never kissed etc is just ridiculous ๐Ÿ˜ญ

This has two of my favorite tropes: Reincarnation and Enemies to Lovers. I actually dreamed of a Kdrama with a plot like this - past life enemies who are still enemies in the next life but slowly fall in love - and I had no idea this kdrama even existed. It's very underrated and I'm not sure why?
My only issue with it was: the repetitive plot as soon as the villain shows up and some lackluster acting.
I guess everyone agrees that by the end of the show, the plot becomes really dragging and repetitive and some of the lead's choices were overly dramatic or didn't make much sense. But still, the ending made it all up for me, I personaly LOVED the way they wrapped it all up. It was so satisfying.
Regarding the acting, I don't like the ML actor's acting, it feels very stiff and often also very unnatural, so that you notice he's trying to hard to act. It's really annoying but it was still ok.
The actor who plays the bad guy is SO annoying to me, he often plays villains and ugh, his acting is so over the top. Can't stand it.
Another thing that I didn't like was that the FL didn't feel like a real person, she was two-dimensional and every choice she made was to move the plot along. She didn't have a real personality.
Still I enoyed this and if you like these two tropes mentioned above you'll likely enjoy it too. I wish I could find more reincarnation kdramas or cdramas, I feel like I've watched all there is. If anyone has any recs, let me know

The first three episodes were so fun and refreshing, a little bit different than the usual kdrama tropes. But after that I seriously lost all interest, it moved on too fast and in a too unrealistic way, so now all the fun "enemies to lovers" trope is done in 3 episodes? That was the only thing that was slightly interesting so I'm out...

I couldn't even finish Episode 1 sadly :/ the acting was just too unnatural and fake to me, the lovey-dovey scenes between the two felt overdone and fake and I couldn't feel chemistry. Tbh I have a hard time with this actor when he's doing cheerful characters; I think he does way better in quiet/jerk roles and whenever he has to smile a lot in roles he comes across as very unnatural. So I felt like he was miscast for this role. I personally couldn't get into it. A bummer because I really enjoyed the original one and was curious to see the Korean remake

On The Atypical Family Sep 7, 2024
The concept of this magical family could've been SO COOL but unfortunately they ruined it with a really lackluster romance (FL and ML had no chemistry, but also the whole setup of the romance was strange) which jumped from "not interested" into "i'd die for this person" without proper build up. The fatshaming was terrible to watch, too. The only storyline that had me invested was the little girl but it wasn't enough to keep me seated. The ML was SO boring and expressionless. I'm so disappointed bc it sounded right up my alley...

Really loved this drama!! A complete roller coaster of emotions especially family emotions in such an outstanding…
I know you posted this a month ago, but regarding Yi Chan and Chung Ah, they showed in the final scenes that Yi Chan graduated from the same university that Chung Ah's father mentioned that he intended to enroll Chung Ah in, an university abroad for deaf people. So I assume that since the father said he would pay for all of the bills from the hospital and the education of YI Chan (bc his stepson was responsible for the accident), Chung Ah probably convinced the father to pay for Yi Chan's enrollment in the same university for deaf students and that's how they ended up staying together.

Ok so I just finished this drama. I have a major doubt somebody help me. At the end, when eun gyeol performs with…
I think they left the part of Ha Eun Gyeol up for interpretation, I personally think since he wasn't actually there yet/didn't exist yet, the "time travel magic" made him somehow disappear in the memories of everyone so that they can't really remember that he played a significant role in their lives, otherwise it would be really weird when he gets older and they all realize they had a BFF who looked exactly like Yi Chan's child.
As for Se Gyoung's family, I felt super disappointed that they didn't show us if her mom lived a happy life and if Se Gyong is going to be growing up with a healthy and sober mom...I wished they had had a few more minutes in the last episode to show us what happened with them.

i'm currently watching and although it's nice, I don't understand the high rating. I'm gonna finish it and see…
Ok now that I've finished it I can say that the last two to three episodes are especially well done so I think that's why people end up giving such a high rating. Overall a very nice drama, especially if you enjoy father-son / mother-son bonding and family and friendship focused stories. I do think there were some parts that felt a bit draggy or repetitive in the middle and sometimes I got a bit bored, but later on the plot really picked up and it was very emotional.
I must say the ML is an amazing actor, he nailed his role as the son and expressed all ranges of emotions so well and very naturally. I hope to see him in more roles! Also his puppy eyes were perfect for his role as the son, superb casting!
I was very impressed to find out that the main leads learned guitar/cello for this kdrama on top of sign language. They actually deserve an Oscar for this effort tbh.

i've come to the conclusion that if there's a lot of hate against a drama on MDL, it's probably good lmao
bc a lot of people on MDL dislike more progressive kdramas that go against the norm and the usual fluffy, conservative storylines. so I'll definitely give this show a try

i'm currently watching and although it's nice, I don't understand the high rating. I'm gonna finish it and see if my opinion changes but there are many scenes that I found quite repetitive and boring, and many characters have made decisions that I found not very likeable. I think it's overrated....
