while waiting for LYF2, here are some of my favorite snippets from the novel (LYF1 chapters) that encapsulates XY's thoughts and feelings towards XL.
[1] When they were out playing, it was like the two of them was just enjoying life. Two people who didn't care about anything, who was willing to try everything, became partners venturing out into the dizzying world.
[2] Every one of her poisons was one of her longing, one of her missing, one of her feelings.
[3] Xiao Yao felt like the two of them could have kept playing together like this for forever and an eternity. Because the two of them were just too similar - they didn't care about anything, willing to try everything, interested in all, and whatever could make them smile. They appreciated all that was beautiful, but wanted to own none of it.
[4] That night in Zhi Jin Court, the sound of Xiao Yao's laughter would ring out every so often as she laid on her pallet rolling around laughing so hard until her stomach hurt.
[5] Xiao Yao rushed here excitedly with a whole bellyful of things she wanted to say to him. She wanted to boast about how she made the poison lilies, how she made the leaf covers, but now the entire salmon frolicking in lilies tableau turned dim and she didn't feel like saying anything anymore. She picked up her wine and started drinking and pouting.
[6] For whatever reason, Xiao Yao's heart was filled with an endless ache. She suddenly grabbed Furball's neck tightly and Furball squirmed in annoyance but didn't really put up a fuss. Xiao Yao buried her face in Furball's neck as her tears came tumbling down, one after another, falling silently on Furball's feathers and disappearing.
and ofc my fave scene ♡ [7] After Xiang Liu was done eating, he said "Let's go back."
Xiao Yao didn't move and continued to stare at the ocean. If it was possible, she really wanted to live like this for the rest of her life.
"Xiao Yao?" Xiang Liu stood before Xiao Yao. She raised her head to stare at him and smiled "Don't you feel like today was a day we stole to spend together? That there is only now and no tomorrow!"
I haven’t started watching it cause i waited for the 2nd season to air but who is actually her real love. I…
it all comes down to how you interpret the FL's scenes with the MLs. i suggest reading the novel to get ahold of her thoughts more. i could write a whole essay about why i think xiang liu is her real love, but you may have a different perception.
as someone who is team xiang liu i wanted to avoid the trailer as much as possible, but then the algorithm just had to be a bitch so the x app brought me a clip of xiang liu all bloody and my heart is already breaking sm. how can i watch LYF2 while maintaining my sanity?
can i watch this as my first chinese historical drama ever?? it won't be confusing right?
interesting choice for your first costume cdrama. i wouldn't say it would be the most appropriate choice, but it won't be anything confusing. as long as you're aware that this is not heavy on the romance part and mainly focuses on revenge that involves political and family conflicts.
Overall, The Double is a drama with some issues and aspects that didn't completely satisfy me, but it also provided numerous great moments that made the whole experience amazing nonetheless. The villains are very well-written and I enjoyed watching them, though I wish SYR's ending was crueler. Most of the arcs were really enjoyable to me, especially the Luyang and Huaixiang arc where we got my favorite moments of the main couple. The ending was rushed and could've been omitted to be replaced with the marriage life (rather than filming some really short scenes last minute for the bonus episode), but thanks for the eye candy a.k.a. XH wearing his battle gear I guess lol.
that type of shot when the actors look directly at the camera while speaking their lines is so overused and awkward.…
esp when it's a (sort of) romantic scene between the two leads. it reminds me of a fanfic with a y/n concept 😭 i want them to look at each other and not me why does the director like that type of shot so much
that type of shot when the actors look directly at the camera while speaking their lines is so overused and awkward. like why r u saying that to me lol i mean it works for some scenes but it's just unnecessary and looks funny most of the time that it has become distracting to me
Shen Yu Rong's actor is phenomenal. SYR is such a complex character (maybe even the most complex in the series), yet he portrayed him perfectly. His eyes are able to express his thoughts and feelings in such accuracy. I have to say— most of the cast are really great actors, but he surprised me the most.
im at ep 29 and i still don't quite understand why ji shu ran have been doing all that to slander or kill jiang li. was it just because she saw jiang li as a threat to her daughter?
