Ye, there are very few donghua with memorable romance, most MLs in this cultivational ones are having more or less shalow relationships with multiple females. Male wet dreams coming true, LOL! Mature love with woman is really rare.
Other version is that they live in celibat with some buddys or they actually like men... Whatever... if story is interesting enough, I don't really care.

Mother is somewhat the right age, in past girls got married at 15-16, they gave birth young, then died young... the son is also arround 15 years old in this case...

Portraying FLs like silly, childish and uncompetent is kind of male selfdefence... In most of the world even nowadays women are considered as inferior to men... it comes from thousands of years of human history when women were treated like a lesser kind of creatures, not having a soul, not having a capability to think in other words - being here only to bear children and serve men... Strong, smart, selfconfident woman is a threat to men, that's why you don't see many of them in dramaworld - all in effort to convince women into submisive role and make them powerless, man dependant dolls.

I recently watch mostly short dramas, even verticals... And in those you have plenty of chemistry and kissing, too. Not going to debate that all about perceiving a chemistry depends on personal preferences. I defenitelly like all expressions of it: from not even touching but air sprakles to gentle or passionate kissing... everything makes chemistry because all this is also part of relationship in real life. Best tension and chemistry in short dramas: Princess above, My lady general, Killer is also romantic, 33 first kisses and many more.

Camera was very nice to ML in this drama, we got a lot of him. I was also surprised that he was SML in The Killer is Also Romantic, probably because he was much less exposed there. When ending is dissapointing I just make better one in my head and that's it...

It's very noticable that FLs are often less atractive but not only by looks but also by personality. Very often even their personal maids or assistants are better in lots of aspects.
Not to say about how they are dressed and hair styled. Like kids. OMG, I really dislike those hair adons - bows and strange tails. Brrr. I never met any kid girl who would want those.
With personality which is also often childish, FLs have no abilities in most of life fields, just clumsy nothing of a person who tolerates abuse and bullying. Selfconfidence - what is that?! All in all, I often wonder why the heck MLs fall in love with them. Not much atractive, not clever, not capable... But actually in time I realised that such un, not, ccc... person is ideal for ML who is cold, aloof and himself unable to develop feelings. Because feelings is all this FLs are really made of. And that is what our ML needs - a sentimental woman, who falls in love, looses still that personality she had and devotes her life to catering to ML. FL exactly needs only one thing: love for ML, being willing to live for him because she loves him - and nothing else.
That's why even those, who had some brains are left only with love brain after meeting their fatal one.
Uf, I blowed some of my frustrations here about general portayal of women in dramalands... I hope for more fleshout, empowered FLs to be presented in the future... also in romcoms...

I quite agree with you why FL is the way she is, thou, other women in same circumstances, wouldn't necessarily turn out to be like her. There is a lot also in a personality. Some people are fighters, who jump in the open and are not afraid to get hit on the head, others are more silent and strugle inside, trying to avoid conflicts if possible. I know this kind well because my husband is this kind of person, but his peacemaking often ends with him being hurt the most. Avoiding conflicts backfires sooner or later. This being said, I must admit for me it's a hellish ride to watch a woman who doesn't fight for herself and stand her ground, when needed, no matter who is on other side.... I watched this drama in movie version and still got that hopeless, giving in to the fate vibe that makes me depressed for the lives of many women, who can't do it other way.

Unfortunatelly I must say that I agree with you... I like how Dilraba looks but much less the way she acts. I started most of her dramas and I gave them up somewhere after five to ten episodes. The last was Legend of Anle... I was looking forward to it but it was soooo... I don't even know which word to use... may be the one you used: bland... I wish she would catch my soul but she didn't... Fortunatelly all of us have own preferences and everybody can love what they want... there is a lot to choose from...

I grew apart with my husband in twenty years, they made it in two months... That was great speed... LOL...! Not that I care, but it's interesting, anyway... fast food relationships nowadys are something else....

I liked Joy of life but ends abruptly, so I'm waiting for season2 ever since... may be next year it will finnaly air. Bloody romance is really quite bloody and twisted but romance is intense, too, worth emotional investment, ending is in style of: beleive what you want... Luoyang starts with best fighting scene I ever seen a woman to perform - but gets bland and blander, until stupid ending. That SFL got my nerves ruined screaming Erlang all the time. And romance of main CP is not necessary at all, in my opinion.
Actually, I never found one as good as MingLan story, so complex, good acted and not a dull moment, except those court sessions, sometimes. I've already watched it for the second time and enjoyed it as well. The rating should be higher, at least 9, it stated really high standards for this type of drama.
I think you should try this dramas and decide yourself because we all have different expectations and criteria.

I like them too. They are coupled in quite some short dramas and they have special, half bickering, half cute, dynamic. Like old spouses, LOL! I'm glad that finnyly somebody menthioned their names on YT so I can give them a heart.

I actually liked this drama, thou MCP had only few happy moments together but those were nice. If you dismiss last second of drama, which they could just leave out - they would have the ending we hope for them...

FL did so many over the top crazy stupid things that even I felt embarassed for her... my patience didn't survive to see the romantic parts thou I wanted to....

I haven't seen any of his dramas, so I can't judge if he can act, but of one I'm shure - he definitely can sing! I just love his voice, specially in Tree/Just Watching You, I'm in love with this song. Wonderful music and his voice adds softness and special dimension to instruments. It soothes my soul. Yes, he can definitely sing! I actually don't care for the rest...

OMG! You really made me laugh with this comment! Not that I wouldn't agree, this man is a full package from face to body... I sometimes doubt if he is a real person or animated one. Nature was very generous to him - he is as gorgeous as talented...

By what you wrotte I suppose you have a narcissistic personality disorder, feeling entitled to attention that you are not entitled to.
