ALL of Chinese romance costume dramas have A LOT OF KISSING SCENES. Remember that! There is many various kissing scenes in Chinese costume dramas such as passionate kisses, forced kisses, soft kisses, and etc.

You should watch Chinese romance costume dramas more before comment anything because what you said is so wrong! From full length dramas until short dramas, they have many kissing scenes.

Edit : I saw your watching list and you clearly watched some of Romance Costume dramas. But WHY you said something wrong like that? There is clearly many kissing scenes in costume dramas. Even the currently airing drama "Si Jin" have a lot of kisses.

For TPOB yes. I think Tencent can drop all of episodes in one go without promotions. At least, it will make the hardwork of TPOB production teams paid off.

I still remember, 2-3 months after Story of Kunning Palace, iQiyi immediately air dropped all 42 eps of Peacock in Wonderland in one day without promotion. It surprised many people because ZJW drama was released in one go.

IQiyi still release Story of Kunning Palace with regular airing schedules because it is a high budget production. And ZJW is only the 3rd lead or even classified as major supporting character there. The true main leads are still Bai Lu and Zhang Ling He.

So I think in SZE cases, iQiyi can be the one who step first to testing the water. But Tencent also did the same method with Angelababy. They released Everlasting Longing with regular airing schedules. I heard Tencent will release The Golden Hairpin next.

Yeah Zhou Jun Wei dramas are B rated dramas and the 20-24 eps lengths are still ideal for make them as short dramas. But it's better than have nothing like SZE cases.

The Glory is actually the same ranked as Blossom A+ rated productions. But Blossom production teams (especially Zeng Qing Jie as director and their scriptwriter team) can manage the budget nicely and the quality results are similar to other S/S+ productions with their given budget. For Blossom, because of the public great responses and it became the popular "Dark Horse" for Tencent in the end of 2024, Tencent elevated Blossom rank from A+ ranked drama to S+ ranked drama.

The Glory? It is considered as major drama productions because of its A+ budgets. But maybe Tencent didn't want to gamble with Chen Du Ling and Xin Yun Lai. Tbh they are not traffic celebrities. CDL did so many 2nd lead, supporting and guest roles before Fangs of Fortune. And Xin Yun Lai was also the same. He made his first ML role in Youku modern drama but it was not too popular.

I think THAT is the factor why The Glory was not promoted. Blossom main leads Li Yun Rui and Meng Zi Yi are more popular than CDL and XYL, that's why Tencent still promoted them before the premiere date.

I think Si Jin is completed already through express packages right? I watched until ep 32 and i haven't checked Si Jin episodes again.

I hope iQiyi will take the step to "testing the water" first in this case. If the public accept SZE dramas positively then Tencent will definitely release TPOB as well.

Back then in Nov 2023, iQiyi released Story of Kunning Palace even though the 3rd lead Zhou Jun Wei had a white paper protesting case. Yes it's not tax issue but still it made SOKP release delayed for 1 year. The public received Story of Kunning Palace positively as one of the great dramas. SOKP became so popular especially for both main leads Bai Lu and Zhang Ling He. As far as I know, almost no one complained about ZJW cases during SOKP airing schedules. It went really smoothly. I am so happy because Story of Kunning Palace is one of my most favorite dramas.

Then after they saw that ZJW was currently "safe", iQiyi released another ZJW 21 -24 episode (as main leads) drama "Peacock in Wonderland" (45 mins duration), but to make it more "safe", iQiyi decided to make that drama into short dramas format 20 mins duration with 42 eps in total. IQiyi released Peacock in Wonderland in 2-3 months after SOKP completed its airing. The results are good.

One year later in 2025, Tencent finally released another ZJW drama (as main leads) "Stolen Love" with the same format like iQiyi did. Originally it's 21-24 eps drama (45 mins duration) . But Tencent made it as short dramas format 20 mins duration with total 42 eps. And it went smoothly again.

Maybe SZE can comeback to Chinese dramaland with using Short dramas format like ZJW. Both iQiyi and Tencent faced the same situation with SZE cases. As long as SZE is really "clean" about her tax issues. Then she can comeback to entertainment business. It's just about which platforms that wanna take a step first. Imagine TPOB as short dramas format (20 mins duration), it would be 70-72 episodes in total. As far as I know, 40 episodes limitation rules were not applied to Short dramas. So they can make the dramas with more than 40 eps.

Censorship is not the problem anymore for Rebirth dramas these days. There is so many Rebirth dramas that have been released from several years until today and the production teams have many ways to make it works and passed the censor.

China had so many Rebirth dramas already such as Story of Kunning Palace, Blossom, The Princess Royal, Scent of Time, Lost Track of Time, Si Jin, and many more. Even Short dramas also have so many Rebirth theme dramas.

Yes the Emperor usually have many consorts and concubines. But in this drama setting, the problem is not about getting concubines. The emperor was having affairs with palace maid without her knowing. It was well known how emperor loved and chased JBN in both timelines. So when he broke those promises, she found out that he was having affair with palace maid behind her back, it hurts her pride. Also, it was still unavoidable from ppl talking and gossiping + damaging her reputation. But it was not the cause of her death. It's just a reason why she wants to avoid the marriage with emperor in her 2nd life.

After that, she was killed during the political chaos in 1st life.

You love or hate the drama, it's up to you though. But for me, the Rebirth things are more exciting to watch. There is many ways of this production can keep the Rebirth elements. We have so many Rebirth/Reborn dramas these days. Story of Kunning Palace, Lost Track of Time, Si Jin, The Princess Royal, Blossom, Scent of Time, etc. Even short dramas have so many Rebirth/Reborn theme dramas .

It's subjective matters. Because there is so many Chinese actors who can play the General role perfectly.

Some examples, Zhang Ling He is also perfect as General in "Chasing Jade". Also, I need to mention Wu Lei is also perfect for General role because he played as cold general characters twice briliantly in "The Long Ballad" and "Love Like The Galaxy", and etc many more.
