Traditional Chinese characters are still used until now. Some Chinese people even still preferred to write in traditional characters. Many of traditional places like Imperial Palaces, Ancient places of Chinese heritages, Traditional Restaurants, Shooting location for Costume dramas like Hengdian, Xiangshan, etc (outdoor ancient settings like replicas of ancient cities + imperial palaces), and many more also use Traditional Chinese characters for written language. Plus if you are into Chinese calligraphy, then you need to learn how to write traditional characters. Ancient Chinese books and documents use this traditional characters as well.

All Chinese period costume dramas also use Traditional Chinese characters for their productions and dramas contents. Because it's related to the ancient settings of dramas.

Mainland China both used Simplified and Traditional Chinese characters in daily life. Hongkong and Taiwan mostly used Traditional Chinese characters in daily life.

The one that written with alphabetical letters are called Pīnyīn. It's just to help people who can't read chinese characters. Chinese people and people who can speak fluent mandarin don't need pinyin because they already knew how to say and how to read chinese characters.

So normally, We (Chinese) write chinese characters (traditional mandarin or simplified mandarin) without pinyin. Because we know how to speak, read, and write the words and sentences in Chinese/Mandarin.

Let me answer your questions. I am Chinese.

Mandarin/Chinese language is the same from ancient times until now. Just there is some vocabularies that used in ancient times more often. And there is new vocabularies that added in modern era.

For written chinese characters, there is traditional mandarin characters and simplified mandarin characters. Traditional mandarin characters have more complexity and more strokes for each characters. It's harder to write and very beautiful. Chinese used traditional mandarin in ancient era 100%. From ancient times, Korean and Japanese also adapted this Traditional Mandarin characters into their writing systems, they are called Hanja (Korean) and Kanji (Japanese).

In modern era, Chinese people simplified the complex characters from traditional mandarin into "simplified mandarin characters" with less strokes. So there is two versions characters for each mandarin words. And ancient Chinese people can't understand the simplified version because there is less strokes in those characters. They 100% will complain that YOU WRITE THE WRONG WORDS. There is no simplified mandarin in ancient era. They only used traditional mandarin characters. In opposite, modern people will understand the traditional mandarin characters because the simplified version come from traditional one. Both traditional and simplified mandarin are beautiful. But there is more beauty in the hardness of traditional mandarin complex strokes. There is some people who still use traditional mandarin until now. Ancient books and documents also still use this traditional mandarin characters. Because that's the original version of Chinese characters.

FYI, this drama is not about modern girl who goes back to ancient times. Jiang Si is the ancient girl in Zhou Dynasty who got the second chance to go back into the past (to her younger days) and change the events to prevent the tragedy that happened to her and her family. So, Jiang Si is still in her ancient era. This drama Rebirth/Reborn theme is like Blossom, Story of Kunning Palace, The Princess Royal, Lost Track of Time, etc when the female leads go back in time to their younger days/age to change the events to prevent the same mistakes and tragedies happen again in the the future/second life. For The Princess Royal, both FL and ML go back to their younger days.

I wanna ask this question about ep 13-14. Jiang Si was the one who burn the house when there is the princess and her noble friends? Or someone else did that? I see that she was about to drop the candles there but how that one group of candles can make the fire so big?

And I don't agree with your talking about censorships. Let people create what they want. Many people still love Rebirth/Reborn/Getting 2nd chance themed dramas. Your voice is not for majority.

Both The Glory and The Double original novel are also Rebirth stories. For The Double, it's still the same tropes about getting the 2nd chances as another identity. The Glory, idk. It hasn't aired yet and I don't want to assume things.

Rebirth/Reborn dramas are great and exciting. There is nothing wrong with the tropes. We can get good dramas when the production team executed the plots well. For example Story of Kunning Palace, Blossom, The Princess Royal, and Lost Track of Time. Many people also still love this kind of Rebirth/Reborn themed dramas. Many novels and manhuas also have this kind of themes and it's becoming more trending these days. We still have different stories for each Rebirth dramas, novels, manhuas even though they used the same method like changing back events as the 2nd chance.

Also, i disagree with your words about you hope that censorship will do something about it. Please NO. I don't want to censorship making another rules again for Chinese dramaland. Let people create what they want with many of Rebirth/Reborn stories. Many people still love it and every stories/dramas are different to each other even though they used the same "changing the events" elements. The Rebirth plots also can be exciting and very great to watch.

Be careful what you are wishing for. Your voice is NOT for the majority of people. It's only what you think and other ppl still think differently. There is many ppl who want Rebirth/Reborn tropes still exist because it's their favorites. That's why more dramas and more novels also use this kind of tropes but they still have different stories to be told. Let people love what they loved.

I am not ZWY fans or Jing Tian fans but I am also watching Si Jin right now. It's the same like claiming The Glory is only for Chen Du Ling fans which is so WRONG. Many neutral/other actors fans also watching both Si Jin and The Glory.

Si Jin is 40 eps lol it takes more time than ~30-36 eps dramas. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Many Chinese actors can kiss really well (both full length dramas actors and short dramas actors).

I still like Yu Zheng dramas costumes. It's all good and decent.

The Double has very great costumes and hairstyles. It was based on Song Dynasty costumes. Song of Youth also has nice costumes and hairstyles. It was based on Ming Dynasty costumes. Perfect Match is also good. It was based on Song Dynasty costumes. Story of Yanxi Palace was based on Qing Dynasty costumes. Gone with The Rain was based on Tang Dynasty costumes. The Legend of Haolan was based on Seven Warring states era costumes especially Zhao Kingdom and Qin Kingdom. And etc many more.

I don't see any problem with YZ dramas costumes and hairstyles. All is good.
