Do you know the funny thing is? Actually "Makjang" type of drama is already shown n detected from episode 1. But…
Are u serious? So many makjang elements here. Cheating husband + annoying mistress + hidden child + selfish mother in law + unexpected pregnancy out of wedlock (both FL n mistress) + helpless/weak/too kind/innocent FL + deadly disease/condition + divorce battle + people who looked down on FL all the time. Those elements are enough to make daily soap opera with 50-100 episodes. Imagine if the writer also put amnesia + fancy revenge + rich families. It will complete the circle :))
This is barely a medical drama, instead.
So, in conclusion, this drama got makjang elements. Yes. But it's not the same with cheap makjang drama with 100 eps. Dr Cha is the premium version one if we see the category (16 eps) and budget.

Tbh, i put this drama on hold when I finished ep 1 bcs of Makjang element and I was picking it up again around last week to see further development. But it turned out, I was right all this time. This is pure trash until the end.
Zero development and they treated the medical aspect as a big joke. They also can't show us REAL surgeries like other kdramas do. They didnt have budget to create the props? Or the writer just become lazy to make some "serious" medical cases with real surgeries and human organs (Seo In Ho kept doing laparoscopy surgery which is felt so instant bcs the production team can just put the existing laparascopy video). As medical genre fan, this is very disappointing.
Im 8 minutes in and was feeling hateful that theyre giving the mistress so much screen time so came to the comments…
Do you know the funny thing is? Actually "Makjang" type of drama is already shown n detected from episode 1. But people ignored it and expected MORE like hoping for character and plot development + more "medical" and "career plot" for Dr Cha. So, it's all about people vs expectation.
I already knew this type of production will keep going around in cheating/affairs plot bcs this is not a real medical focus drama. It's just a setting and they put Kim Byung Chul as ML already. I hate this kind of plot that's why i NEVER set my hope high from beginning.
And Makjang usually got high rating that's why korean producer still make this type of dramas. That's the truth.
For people who search for medical drama in this page, i wanna say.....
Please lower your expectation. This is a makjang drama with hospital setting. What a waste. I already knew from beginning this is going to happen. The poor quality script that stuck in the devil circle from beginning = cheating, affairs, wanna divorce or not, cruel mother in law, mistress and hidden child + poor medical execution.
Why so many korean dramas from 2022-2023 these days ended up unsatisfying, besides draggy in the middle, but the ending/execution towards the end is also not satisfying, feeling forced, and something unfinished/unclear or disappointing. I dont only talk about this drama but other kdramas also.
I really miss the quality of previous era of kdramas (before 2022).
Is dr cha really that interesting. I don't like shows with infedility and affairs?
Then, I guess this drama is not for you.
For me, this is far from proper medical drama. It's all about the journey of dr cha to get back her rights of her own life and career. But it's also focusing on family matters + husband cheating storyline. People kept guessing about dr cha will divorce her husband or not. This is not a high quality script though. The comedy scenes sometimes okay sometimes cringe.
I don't understand what ppl behind Chinese regulations were thinking. China has benefit SO MUCH from these period…
However, as both c-dramas n k-dramas fan, I agree with you.
Chinese dramas reputation were saved and become more popular bcs of great period costume dramas. I never expect too much from chinese modern dramas anyway. Except for sports genre.
Chinese is doing great mostly in period costume and sports type dramas. Korean is still the best in modern dramas.
I am sorry. I dont mean to destroy your hope. But...It's impossible. When the drama got trouble, iQiyi n other…
They sold some popular drama licenses to Netflix but it's not massive like Korean dramas. So I guess China still depends on to their big domestic market. They also have their own international version of platform. Like WeTV, Youku intl, Iqiyi Intl.

I didnt expect that this kind of shit will happen to my most anticipated chinese drama. What a nightmare. Damn.
