Nah the censorship didnt care about it's fictional or not. As long as the story was set in "historical" period. They would consider it was inappropriate for (real) eunuch.
You should realize censorship people is not open minded. They had old mind and principle. They even banned time travel, rebirth, body swap and Bromance/BL. That's why many time travel and body swap stories got "censorship ending" like comma, simulation, dream, story from novel, etc. It is needed to pass the censorship issue.
Do you know the reason why time travel and rebirth were banned? Because the government thought that it would be leading to mass suicide so they can reincarnate to other lives like in the drama. They basically just considered people are stupid.
Plus Dylan's char is not the real eunuch. That's why i said i dont see any point why it got many cutting scenes.
Fyi, Intimate scenes are still there in other chinese dramas. "She and Perfect Husband" got a lot of kisses. "Falling into you" got really hot steamy kisses + bed scenes. And they were released in later 2022.

You should read chinese history. An eunuch is not ethically can "love" someone. They served imperial court without real human rights. Yes it sounds harsh but it was the real fact. So the chinese censorship will definitely consider these things.
And it's not about wrong or right. It's more about chinese society perspective in that era about an eunuch + his blocked rights to had sexual needs and love.
You can see the drama "Serenade of Peaceful and Joy". It was based on REAL historical event about princess controversy during Song Dynasty. The first half of story is about the emperor Renzong reign, and the second half of story is about the emperor's daughter, Princess Fukang who fell in love with young eunuch.
And you will see the love is blooming without intimate scenes. They only held hands and had some good moments together, nothing more. The love is very subtle. Plus it has realistic (sad) ending. If the production team decided to add more kissing scenes + intimate moments, i doubt it will pass the censorship. Because in the people's eyes, it was inappropriate.

Yes I agreed. I love Li Hong Yi from a long time ago. I discovered him when he was in the drama called "Love is Better Than Immortality" with Zhao Lusi in 2019. It was a fantasy idol drama.
Zhao Lusi is flying high right now. But Li Hong Yi is still in the ground. I hope he can get the best script with high budget. His face is handsome. His physical appearance is no less than others. Some ppl even said Li Hong Yi is somehow similar to Cheng Yi. So, I think, Li Hong Yi is already had a good base to become a traffic chinese actor.
