"I love the moon, yet the moon doesn't know." - He Yan
This is my first-ever review, so please bear with me and provide feedback on this review to help me improve my future reviews.(This is my opinion; remember, don't judge a drama by its reviews and ratings to see if it's worth watching. Please give it a try and see if it's worth it.)
PLOT:
The series "Legend Of The Female General" is based on a girl named He Yan, who was forced to disguise herself as her stepbrother He Rufei to protect the family honor. He Yan made many achievements under her stepbrother's name and was also known as General Fei Hong, a fearless general. He Yan was later betrayed by her own family. Once she was no longer needed, they poisoned her and made her go blind.
He Yan decides to make a comeback after everything she has been through. She uses her name, He Yan, and makes a new identity to enlist in the army to regain everything she had lost and make better achievements. She later comes across the ML at the place she enlisted at and is one of the soldiers under his command.
Both He Yan and Xiao Jue have known each other since their school years, but only He Yan remembers because during that time she was only known as He Rufei.
Xiao Jue suspects He Yan of being a spy because of her skills in martial arts. Throughout the series, we get to see their relationship grow stronger together, and we get to see their past hardships together. This drama shows He Yan's past and what she had suffered, but we get healing by seeing her rise and make her name by making amazing achievements, and see her fall in love with the ML.
MUSIC/OST:
I loved the OSTs in this series! The music fits so well throughout every scene, making you feel the same type of emotions in that scene.
ACTORS:
Zhou Ye - I've seen Zhou Ye in 2 dramas before this one. They were both good, especially LMLMV, that's where I first ever saw her. I loved her acting, so that's why I gave this drama a try.
"Love Me, Love My Voice" with Tan Jianci, and "Everyone Loves Me" with Lin Yi.
Cheng Li - I've never seen any drama from CL, but I'm looking forward to his upcoming works and giving them a try.
OVERRALL THOUGHTS:
I found out about this drama around a year ago because of Zhou Ye. This drama drew me in because of the plot. I've never read the novel of this drama, so I never had expectations like other people who have read the novel, but I knew I wanted to give this a try.
This drama is pretty good and would be a good rewatch. I just wish we could have seen more of them together, married, and not so rushed a happy ending.
(SPOILERS: In conclusion, this was pretty good, but the last few episodes were pretty rushed. I wished we could have seen more of their wedding, and it would have been better if we had gotten a sneak peek of their married life instead of the SML trying to take away the FL from the ML.)
Remember, this is my first ever review, so please provide feedback to see where I can improve (Be Kind).
ALSO, do not judge this drama by its ratings and reviews, just give it a try yourself and see if it was worth watching or not.
(I gave this a 9.0 because I liked the overall plot, and I love seeing strong main leads together with amazing chemistry. I would have given this a 10 if only it wasn't for the last 2-3 episodes and SML.)
I recommend this drama if you want to see two strong main leads, a revenge-type trope, with amazing fight scenes.
(I'll come back to fix any mistakes)
