ZLS is the top traffic actress born after 95, but in C-ent traffic actors are actually not on top of the ranks: movie actors > actors who both have traffic but are also recognized in realistic dramas (few can do that as most traffic actors are not good enough for realistic dramas and also a good actor needs to have a life but being a traffic star is the opposite of that) > top realistic drama actors > traffic/idols actors who are not recognized outside idol dramas.

For someone as good in acting as Li Landi and Chen Xingxu, having traffic definitely helps a lot, but I don't think that's what they aspire to. They'd want to be either movie actors or actors that are recognized for serious/realistic dramas. They both said in their recent interviews that they wanted to act in realistic dramas. The role Chen Xingxu said that he wanted to play most was Gao Qiqiang in The Knockout and Li Landi said she wanted to play Chen Suting in The Knockout (https://kisskh.at/700427-punch-out).

I remember watching an interview where Chen Xingxu said his hand was exactly 20cm long and could be used as a ruler. He was then asked to measure Li Landi's arm and he got exactly the same result as that from a ruler xD

I don't know about Chong Zi. But the cut of the two kiss scenes and the sitting together playing Majiang scene between FL and ML in this drama has nothing to do with censorship. They didn't cut kiss scenes of the 2nd couple. Also originally, the FL/ML kiss scene in ep 23 is in Zhejiang TV and Jiangsu TV's version. Besides, there's drama currently airing that has very sexually charged intimate scenes and the cut scenes in this drama are only peck on the cheek.

Currently the consipiracy idea of the reason is that the producer did that intentionally because they don't want the main couple to become too popular and surpress the 2nd couple because the two actors of the 2nd couple are artists signed under the producer's own studio. Another consipiracy idea is that producer used this as a way to get more disputes and attention (We don't want to judge the producer like this but he has a history. When Ashes of Love aired, there was great fan war about ML, 2nd ML and who's more suitable for the FL and the producer was not innocent).

I personally try not to take these consipiracy ideas seriously. But censorship is definitely not the explanation.

In the official Weixin chat group, they said they had to cut these scenes due to "special reason" and that they'll release them as a "special bonus" when the drama is over.

The villain in the novel hasn't appeared in the drama until now nor does the name appear in the cast. This part of the plot of the drama should be very different from that of the novel.

It's not because of censorship. The Forbidden Flower (recently aired) has a lot of sexually charged scenes. Also in Zhejiang TV's version of TSL the kiss scene is not cut. So it should be something with the editing of Youku.

The kisses are not cut in Zhejiang TV's version. So it should be problem of Youku.

A blogger analyzed that Mei Youqing and Wen Ren are pieces that Shaodian Youqin ripped off after his experiences with Yetan and in the drama they did explain the origin of these two shards: Greed produced at their first encounter at the Void market and then developed further in the Celetial world; Lust produced at that night when Yetan ate Jianmu Fruit).

But La Mu isn't. Previously a lot of people believed that La Mu was the Anger produced because Yetan often pissed him off. But the blogger analyzed that La Mu is piece that Youqin got off when he was a child to get rid of the fear. It's also the piece that Yetan has talked to before Youqin 1.0 died. Indeed in the drama La Mu's origin isn't explained.

I think if the analysis is right, it makes more sense. It explains why La Mu is so innocent and is the one that's most similar to Youqin 1.0 in spirit.

Landi said in an interview that the character she most wants to play in this drama (if not Yetan) is Hu Sui and Chen Xingxu commented: that's quite hard a character to play.

They missed out last summer holiday because it only got airing licence last December. Then for the winter holiday there was Knockout which is the most popular Chinese drama for the last 10 years that nobody could compete with.

The drama's daily viewing counts have already surpassed that of several popular Youku dramas when they hit 10000. It's said that the heat index is influenced by number of bullet screen comments and etc. Usually when a drama has traffic stars, their fans will spam repeatedly to increase bullet screen counts. It's not the case for this drama. That's likely the reason why its viewship is higher than its heat index indicates.

Li Landi said in an interview that meiyouqing (greed) is her favourite shard 😂😂😂. Also his personality is most similar to Chen Xingxun himself compared to other shards (not the extremely greedy part though I suppose 😂😂😂)

C-ent is very idolized. Fans treat their favourite celebrities as idols instead of artists. Similar things happen to Kpop. But because China doesn't have a developed singing/dancing idol industry (partly due to culture, partly due to gov' policy not encouraging it), many idol singers and dancers start to act in dramas and movies because being a singer/dancer has no long career ahead, then this "idolization" of artists becomes common in dramas as well.

The hate for TST started in C-fandom as some dramas with idol actors in it feel that it's their competitor. In some Douban groups where there're many idol actors' fans, you can find pages after pages of hating and trashing on TSL and its lead actors. It's unfortunate that this thing has spread even to English C-drama communities.

The ML and FL of TSL are pretty traditional actors. They graduate from China's most pretigious art performing university and they're taught and trained as actors not idols. They clearly separte their roles from themselves. Outside acting, they look simple and live their life like ordinary people which is important for an actor. But that makes them unable to attract a lot of devoted and zealot fans to fight for them because they're not idol-alike.

Fortunately, a lot of people who have watched TSL have started to defend them and this drama.

Same here. I especially love the concept of falling in love with different soul shards (and each reprents a flaw/desire of You Qin), and it's a process of mutual redemption.

Up to now, most relationships between characters in this drama are quite wholesome, which is different from a lot of those xianxia dramas.

Beast Emperor?

He was in the army from 2014-2016. In 2018 he participated in the training for the movie Fengshen Trilogy. It's a huge budget series based on Chinese mithology that has a lot of fighting and war scenes. He trained for 1 year for that movie and was selected for the role Yin Jiao (search Yin Jiao on Google). After that, he formally entered the entertaining business and filmed two dramas (Guardians of the Lands and The Starry Love), both produced by Liu Ning Studio of Perfect Picture (I heard that he signed under Liu Ning Studio as an artist as well but I didn't find his info on their website).

He is of Han ethnicity actually, but since he's from the Northwest, it's likely that he has ancesters from Xi Yu (Western Regions).

He Xuanlin even has a doctor's degree.
