The entire show was a disappointment to me. First, they had Hua Yong lying to Mr. Sheng about his identity and manipulating him for about 10-11 episodes, mind you, my issue is not the lying and manipulation but the fact that Mr. Sheng fell for the illusion Hua Yong presented so everything that came after felt short and was not believable to me. It was also disappointing that they didn’t have enough of a back and forth push-pull after finding out the truth to create romantic tension which would eventually lead to reconciliation. Everything happened so fast, it was bland.
Then we have Shen Welang and Gao Tu, they made Shen We lang another level of stupid. We didn’t get a proper execution for this ship. Throughout the entire show, their relationship remained THE SAME. GaoTu suffering in silence and hiding his identity because his crush hates omegas and Shen welang as oblivious as ever… episode 15 and dumbass STILL couldn’t figure it out and Gao Tu STILL hiding his true self. From point A to Point B everything remained the SAME. No development AT ALL. I wish they would have shown us more of Gao Tu and Shen welang during high school so we could understand and sympathize with their characters more, and then they could have shown us a little more on Shen welang’s hatred for omega’s rather than just briefly telling us. I don’t understand why so many love this show, when it was poorly executed. Even the direction sucked, the actors are great but sometimes they come across stiffed because of whoever is directing.
I dont understand the reason for kissing the boss on the cheek. Unless it was his way of paying last respects,…
This is what I am trying to understand and I have a few theories:
1. It was his way of saying goodbye to the only person in the family that loved and cared for him, because despite being the illegitimate son, he was the favorite. However, it is also something that would be considered disrespectful to do at a funeral so I wonder if that is to further highlight that Kataoka is the odd one out in the family. The illegitimate son, the mistake etc. His very existence is a disrespect to the wife, so I wonder kissing his cheeks would add to that disrespect.
2. It could be that their relationship was borderline incestous. Not explicitly but you get what I mean.., he was the old man’s favorite after all.
3. It was to hint the old man prefers men over women even though we know of the wife and the mistress. The yakuza here show no signs of giving a fuck about who’s gay or not, and the wife said after the kiss on the cheek something along the lines of, “a handsome young man suits you so well” to the dead husband. So it is hinting that maybe the old man, too, loves men.
Well, it's obvious for everyone that Do Jin Woo is the worst part about this drama, every second Jin Woo appeared…
At first I really liked Tae rang and Seol Ah together but they started to bore me after some time, and ngl the ex husband and Seol Ah had good chemistry so even though it would have been better if they never got back together, I low-key started to ship them late into the show. I don’t know, I guess you could say I love pain, messiness and toxic (can’t deny it honestly, I usually like villains). I think the only characters I really couldn’t stand were Jin Woo’s mom and some family members (oh and Jin woo for the majority of the show until like almost the end)
I really wish they'd fix it. 😭 (though it did make me want to get back to my japanese studies lol)It hurt my…
I guess by using gross doesn’t really translate well to a western audience while creepy does kind of describe what Hira was doing as what it is even if its true the direct translation is not creepy. Cringe would have been a better option then.

This is boring af so far... maybe I just dont "get" the overused antihero cliche... will try out a few more episodes…
if you aint into anti hero stuff this show aint for you. plain and simple. Also Yohan and the sung ah are the smartest characters there (as much as I love gaon baby can be too dumb sometimes)
Not all storytelling have to be about healthy relationships lol it is about really human emotions, trauma, and…
They did, in the last episode lmao. You see Kiyoi yelling at Hira about it. Obviously, not all of their unhealthy dynamic is resolved because this series is just based on the first book of a trilogy, the upcoming movie will explore more of their relationship by giving them more obstacles that they will have to overcome together and individually. This series is more realistic than most BLs that people consider “healthy"
To me this was such a toxic relationship!I think Hira, the ML, was too much of a pushover, being treated like…
Not all storytelling have to be about healthy relationships lol it is about really human emotions, trauma, and how they grow from it (we’ll see how they developed in the upcoming movie)
