Have you found the novel this is based on? The only one I found had a different setting and the storyline was different too.

ZXW forced her to do this cause he has the incriminating evidence she didn't burn. When she left to pick up HRZ before that, the thing she said she'd do. That was it. Exposing her father's wrongdoings. It's just that ZXW didn't calculate that she'd try to take the sole blame for her father.

Because you said "It’s such a shame because Wang Xingyue is so good in this, his chemistry with Zhou Ye is so interesting to watch." and the drama has been following the novel, the original source work, to a t so far. So based on those things it's not a ludicrous assumption to assume you are referring to ZXW. But either way, all these characters are acting how they did in the novel. YZ didn't do anything much yet.

Some of you are upset with the actions of the characters so far and just an fyi, this isn't entirely YZ's fault. This is what happened in the novel too. None of these characters are supposed to be perfect. I feel like you guys would enjoy this show more if you focused on the FL and her goal of saving her family rather than who will she end up with. At the end of the day, whether she is with HRZ or ZXW it's not really that important. I understand people are upset because of the advertising, but we aren't even done with the show yet. There are 30 episodes in total. I think some of you need to relax tbh.

Except he didn't because everything happening right now occurred in the novel/original work. There are a few changes but ZXW's actions do not deviate that much.

From the few adaptations I've seen YZ do, he seems to stay pretty close to the novel with a few deviations. So ZXW's character, contrary to what some people believe based on recent trailers, actually isn't acting out of character. This is how he was written in the novel too.

YZ, the producer, came out and said all the leaked clips are from ep 29, not 30. He also said everyone's guesses for the ending were wrong? So we apparently don't know the ending?

!!! I'm really questioning how he was able to pass the exam. He's not smart based on his actions. How did he not see that his actions would get his family demoted to slave status. He lives in an era where the actions of one get the whole family punished.

Tbh I wasn't understanding that. He's supposed to be smart too so why did he keep showing up at the wrong times and making things worse especially as a one man army.
