rating kinnporshe highly and cutie pie in pfp but KIYOI being a lil bratty is your definition of abusive?
I'm sorry but it's hard to exclude rape from a relationship.

You can have opinions. Literally no one is saying otherwise but people are also allowed to discuss their opinions. I simply disagree with you calling them abusive or toxic.

You were calling Kiyoi and Hira's relationship abusive while you enjoy something with much worse toxic element. That seems hypocritical.

I've never watched the series (kinnporche?) but what you guys described is literally sexual assault/rape.

When it comes to toxicity, before you make any assumptions , you have to ask yourself whether it's consensual or not? What do the pair think of the situation? Do they have the ability to say "no"?
Sometimes , a toxic thing for a couple can be a part of another couple's dynamic which basically means they enjoy it.

What was the guy's (Porche's)reaction the day after it happened? Did he dislike it or like it? Because if he disliked it or was shocked by the situation then he was raped.

You can say you dislike Hira and Kiyoi's relationships all you want but I will forever disagree with people who call it toxic or abusive because clearly some of you don't even know how that works.

Hira loves to serve Kiyoi while Kiyoi loves Hira's attention so it's consensual and therefore it's "not toxic"

If Kiyoi wanted, he could've told Hira to stop and Hira would've obeyed. If Hira wanted, he could've told Kiyoi to stop or break up with him. They are not forced to do anything, this is what they want. This is how non-toxic relationships work

Season 2 actually picks up very soon after the big confession scene at the end of Season 1. So what you are seeing…
I was also starting to ask myself ,why are people claiming that Hira and Kiyoi have spent years together? Wasn't it just a few days after the confession? Did they mention that in the series?

I guess the reason people think like that is because Hira is thinking of graduation already which indicates that some time has passed but it's more ambiguous in the tv series
On My Beautiful Man Season 2 Feb 8, 2023
I really want to know why haters are even watching season 2 at this point

Did they watch 6 episodes of the previous season, clearly didn't understand it or like it and somehow decided to watch another episode of season 2?

If you think the relationship is "abusive" then I guess mental struggles, character progression and representation of certain dynamics in relationships are not for you.

Go and watch two Mary sues be lovey dovey and "perfect" please and let the rest of us enjoy bl for once.

It's frustrating when people throw the word "abusive" around whenever they don't like something. Hira and Kiyoi clearly like each other "with some of their flaws" and are working on the rest of their flaws. That's not "abusive".

Sometimes I wonder if these people have ever been in a relationship because irl, no relationship is "perfect" because nobody is perfect

It's cute. But honestly, why are characters always depicted as "shy" when they have been together for "a few years"…
Hira isn't shy exactly. He is autistic (at least in my opinion)

Hira's brain simply works differently and he can't help it but live in his own world.

Also considering how Hira was bullied since childhood, it would be hard to take his anxiety away exactly

I mean I don't want to spoil anything but as someone who has listened to the audio of the second novel I think…
Your welcome!

Although I have to mention that they could easily change some parts of the story from the novel (they did make some changes in the first season) so I'm not sure how they'll handle the "break up" but at least I can be certain that we will get a lot of domestic HiraKiyoi

"there would be a breakup but why and what will happen after that???"

"Spoilers warning bellow"( I might've forgotten some details because I listened to the drama a long time ago)

Novel 2 is actually all about making Hira and Kiyoi grow as a couple and as individuals with their careers and insecurities and the break up happens for that purpose as well.

As we saw in the first season, Kiyoi is a proud and jealous idiot who doesn't always say what he feels and Hira's self confidence issues and anxiety is so bad that he always assumes the worst and thinks he isn't worthy. This is a general issue in their relationship which they are working on it in the second novel.

Kiyoi in particular is trying his best to help Hira with his confidence and to make the relationship work ( Kiyoi is great in the second novel actually, I hope they show it well in the adaptation because they ended up making Kiyoi look worse than the novels in the first season adaptation) but Hira is anxious and still feels like Kiyoi is too good for him so he doesn't try as hard as Kiyoi which ends up making Kiyoi feel like Hira is not as enthusiastic about the relationship as he is but unfortunately they don't communicate to understand each other better.

It gets worse and Kiyoi gets jealous and upset at Hira for a couple of reasons (like Hira not wanting to photograph him professionally) and he unintentionally blurts out a "I don't want to be with you" in the middle of a fight and Hira being the insecure idiot that he is, takes it the worst way possible and thinks Kiyoi wants to finally break up with him because he doesn't deserve Kiyoi so Hira ends up leaving Kiyoi lol

They get back together almost immediately after a crazy thing happens to Kiyoi.

The entire purpose of the break up is to show that how important it is for Hira and Kiyoi to communicate because they have an entire different perspective of each other and the relationship and if they don't communicate they might easily end up losing each other due to both of their insecurities (specially Hira's)

99% of the second novel covers their relationship and even their struggles as a couple. They do end up having a small and short lived "break up" at one point in the second novel but the break up itself is more due to a misunderstanding and it only serves one purposed only (I won't spoil) and it's not to make them fall in love again like most other bl sequels do

So I really don't think people should be too worried because it's actually a "very small and short break up" in comparison to the rest of the novel which follows their relationship as a couple 99% of the time , unless they decide to change something in the adaptation and make it different from the novels

After so long of trying to get in to other bl movies and series, I had to come back here because no bl is like utsukushii kare in my eyes.

This bl seems to be the only one for me. The psychological aspect of the characters and their flaws in "my beautiful man" is something that you don't normally find in bl. Bl is usually too afraid to make it's characters flawed due to a bunch of "know it all school girls" calling it "toxic" which is why a bl like utsukushi kare is a rare gem to me. Not only it was not afraid to give psychological problems and flaws to the main leads, this story makes the characters progress so well , for a bl as well.

There is nothing "toxic" about this relationship. If seeing a character flaw makes people call a relationship "toxic" then I guess you guys have never been in an actual relationship because nobody is perfect anyways. You can never be in a perfect relationship .
The relationship between Kiyoi and Hira is one of admiration and obsession and full of misunderstandings. There is consent involved because Hira clearly loves to work for Kiyoi and it was heavily implied that Kiyoi is aware.

Hira who has been bullied all the time and lacks self confidence because of it, finds his confidence with Kiyoi despite all the odds. He realizes that when it comes to Kiyoi, something inside of him changes and gives him confidence. It's odd but it's something that Hira cherishes. Hira's love for Kiyoi started of with Hira getting to know himself before getting to know Kiyoi. The character who makes this relationship weird by his actions, is Hira and Hira's mental problems due to getting bullied. I actually feel like Hira might have autism tbh.

Kiyoi, is also a very insecure but very normal teenager and my personal favorite. His insecurities are relatable. His cool facade is what I love. Kiyoi is beautiful but not because of his face but because of his character growth by the end of the story. It's not easy to let go of your insecurities and pride.

Overall, I wish I could see more bl like this one. We need more bl that isn't afraid to explore characters and weird relationships. School girls and fujoshis who want everyone to be Mary sue can be damned.

Can't wait for season two. I have heard that according to the novel, Hira and Kiyoi will have even more character growth and y'all can see

Surprisingly better than I expected. This is the second bl I am actually enjoying. The acting is good and you get a good sense of personality for both of the leads pretty early. Hopefully it goes well. I don't know anything about the webtoon.

Reading the comments it feels like bl sjw is at it again. Demanding everyone and everything to be perfect and nice . Well couldn't be me. Nothing is more boring than a perfect and nice relationship with zero flaws and zero room for improvement which is probably why I can't enjoy bl very much (bl fans demand perfection and it's boring to me)

As far as I'm concerned, we have two flawed characters. One of them , cold and slightly rude. He needs to open up and let himseld feel love for once . I think he might need someone who actually tries to be his friend otherwise he'll never open up.

The second ml is way too proactive and even nosy. He needs to learn to back off a little . His behaviour can be annoying to anyone and he needs to learn.

I am hoping for this improvements😊

I'm back lol

Seriously guys no offense to bl fans but I can't find a bl show that I like other than this one. I tried both cute bls and darker ones and non of them worked. I suppose this genre isn't for me, utsukare is the only bl I ever liked lol
HyoOminas Jan 7, 2022
This is exactly a show NOT made for Fujos. Unlike those suger coated cute bls with cute boys and unrealistic settings that are made for fujos.

I want everyone to read this comment to read mine as well. I have tried watching and liking bl but I never liked the genre until this show and it's the only one I've ever liked.

If you are in fact a Fujoshi, stay away from this show 'cause I don't think this one is for you.

There is no bad guy between the two of them. Just two dudes with insecurities and issues who need to better themselves.
Replying to puurimi Dec 27, 2021
I very much disagree. I simply don't think there was enough character development to convince me as a viewer that…
What is your definition of character development? They do have it but as I mentioned in my review too , they don't suddenly turn in to other people right after realizing their mistakes.

And I don't know the meaning of a "justified" relationship, people can have all sorts of relationships. Hira and Kiyoi had a weird friendship which fell apart because of their issues and they never were allowed to be romantic until they could be a little better and talk to each other. What the author was trying to do is obvious to me and that is telling the audience that this relationship needs some time and communication and needs to get better. Romanticizing toxicity is basically when two people have a "romantic" relationship and the author writes toxicity off as cute or cool and "romantic" with no room for development because they are already perfect which did not happen in this show at all.

Anyways I'm sorry , I don't want to bother you too much.

Title My Beautiful Man Spoiler
what did I just watch..Honnestly it was not bad, it was well acted and well filmed, it was not boring, but I still…
10 episodes? It was only 6 lol

Yes they both change. Hira goes from a guy who lets everyone boss him around to directly reject Koyama without a second thought.

Kiyoi goes from not being able to communicate due to feeling vulnerable and being afraid of people leaving him, to building up enough courage to say everything he feels.

If you can't see how their dynamic is so much different from how they were in the first episode then honestly, I don't know what to say. This show isn't for you I suppose.

I mean did you expect the two characters to suddenly become entirely different people for you to consider it development?
puurimi Dec 25, 2021
I just wrote a review and came to read others perspectives and lol because your review seems the exact opposite of mine with the Romanticising part. The two characters could not be in an actual relationship until they solved their problems and became better. Seems to me that the show is completely aware of the problems and doesn't brush it away at all. And it's a good example of how "not to romanticise " flaws.
