Honestly guys , Yagi surprised me in the last 2 episodes. Hagiwara is a natural actor but Yagi yusei sounded uncomfortable to me during first eps but then he killed it in the last 2 episodes. I was not expecting that. I feel like him being uncomfortable and cold during the first ep was a part of his act as well.
It's not about the last ep. It's about the novel. Kiyoi and Hira have sex in the novel and Kiyoi always bottoms so it's safe to assume that he is a bottom or he prefers bottoming
I get that it's more pleasant to translate kimoi with 'weird' rather than 'gross' but I think that's not really…
Not to disagree with you since you seem like you know Japanese and probably even English better than I do , but I mean, I feel like calling someone weird is also quite rude. But weird and disgusting have totally different meanings in English while I feel like the word Kimoi means that Hira gives Kiyoi a negative vibe and he says it in a rude way. So it really is hard to just boil it down to disgusting you know? I feel like Kiyoi is referring to Hira's strange behaviour which Hira even agrees on.
It was a very good ending, but it made me dislike episodes 4 and 5. If this was the ending intented, I wish they…
Pretty much my thoughts. 6 episodes wasn't enough to show Kiyoi's development to the fullest specially for those who know the original story . But it was still better than I imagined for a 6 episode show
They changed this episode from the original source which was to be expected. It's been a while since I last read this but I don't remember this interaction between Kiyoi and Koyama at all. I swear they tried to make Koyama better than he was in the original.
I still enjoyed this episode more than I thought I would eventhough they changed it. we didn't get Kiyoi trying his best to get Hira by being nice to him unfortunately but surprisingly they did show Kiyoi getting (unintentionally) rejected which I am happy about (Also why do they have to make Kiyoi beat stuff up all the time lol, did he do that in the original? I don't remember) that chasing scene in the school was too funny I couldn't stop laughing. Was it necessary to make them chase each other like that ? I thought I was supposed to have feelings of sadness but I was just laughing the entire scene.
But damn that confession was perfect. Everything I needed to ne said. I mean we could have Hira explaining his situation more like he did in the original but overall, I knew to lower my expectations from last episode because 24 minutes will never be enough for an adaptation. Still better than I expected. This is going to sound ironic but I wished for less smexy times for the sake of more lines from Kiyoi and Hirazbut still, it was good. I'll give it an 8.5 only because of how short it was and if they could make it a little bit longer we could see the characters perspective and their growth a lot better. :)
for anyone that has read the novel /listened to the cd, does kiyoi ever apologize to hira ? i was curious
Apologize for what? Hira's problems and inability to say No isn't his fault. If there is an apology then it goes both ways. As far as the CD drama goes they both confess and admit that they know each others flaws and love each other anyways.
Personally I think their relationship is toxic. The way Kiyoi always tell Hira he's disgusting and Hira always…
Befor I get into this I want to say I respect your opinion . You are allowed to feel however you want.
I find it funny how every single person who hates on Kiyoi for being toxic also has to mention Koyama as if there is a competition between them and hating on Kiyoi makes Koyama relevant. It is not Kiyoi's fault or responsibility if Hira doesn't like him. Honestly this is exactly why I don't like Koyama. His character is pointless and takes away precious time from HiraKiyoi and this is only 6 episodes. Also him being nicer doesn't automatically makes him better. Hira won't be happy with Koyama.
>The way Kiyoi always tell Hira he's disgusting
He doesn't call him disgusting. He uses the word " Kimoi" and he has every right to call Hira exactly how Hira is. No it's not toxic and never wil be regardless of how some people want yo push the idea. If I call someone a name which rightfully belongs to them it doesn't make me toxic.
>These kind of characters cause their partner to become less confident
Kiyoi helped him become more confident. I am starting to feel like people focus on the word "kimoi" more than what Kiyoi actually did for Hira. Which is, he was Hira'a only friend after years of bullying. They spent a lot of nice time together. Kiyoi tried to prevent Hira from getting bullied by others.
Also Kiyoi has his own problems. I don't understand what people expect from an insecure kid like Kiyoi. To be perfect? To act like Hira's Knight in shining armour and save him from problems that he can't even solve for himself? How the heck does being insecure make him toxic?
I will agree with one thing, they need to communicate but that doesn't automatically makes it toxic.
>I think Hira deserves to be with someone who help him become more confident and more sure of himself.
And what makes Hira "deserving" but not Kiyoi? If you ask me I'd say Kiyoi deserves someone who helps him understand that it's OK not to be perfect and to express his feelings without being afraid but Hira always follows him around instead.
Your partner is not your therapist you know? Hira and Koyoi both have flaws but they can work it out.
I haven’t read or listened to the original and I agree with you. From the drama I have no idea how kioyi expects…
Not to say you aren't allowed to feel like that but do you really think fictional characters need deep reasons to love? I think they can love without having any reasonas . I think Kiyoi start noticing Hira because of Hira's behaviour and his adoration but that didn't make him fall for Hira. It was curiosity at first but they started hanging out more and more and Kiyoi fell for him. Because Hira was the only one who wanted to stay with him, who didn't judge him after knowing his secrets and I think both of them really liked hanging out with each other compared to them hanging out with other people. Kiyoi did have friends but never enjoyed their company.
I think this is more than enough reasons for Kiyoi to start loving Hira.
I know you guys are probably tired of me saying this but I just saw someone on twitter make fun of Kiyoi for saying over and over that he doesn't like care about Hira and then in ep 6 preview he gets mad at him for not understanding that Kiyoi loves him.
This is exactly why Kiyoi's POV during the time he spent at Hira's House was important. After knowing that Koyama is not Hira's boyfriend, Kiyoi starts trying to make Hira understand his feelings. He tries to act nice to him, tries to give him hints that he likes him and they even start having a sexual relationship but Hira doesn't understand Kiyoi.
This is why Koyama hugging Hira for no reason and Kiyoi leaving that house instead of staying bothers me so much. I couldn't care less about Koyama who is not even an important character and they decide to actively take away Kiyoi's time with Hira, trying super hard to make Hira take a hint but fails.
Sorry guys but the person making fun of Kiyoi because he tells Hira he doesn't care all the time before snapping at him for not understanding him made me salty again that we didn't get the domestic HiraKiyoi we should've gotten.
I am still hopeful for them to fix this in the next episode somehow.
>but ultimately wishing that Hira himself would better fit the role of a suitable boyfriend, and respond to Kiyoi…
I mean this episode was mostly flashbacks on Kiyoi but I was expecting Hira and Kiyoi to start living with each other right after. What we got was mostly Kiyoi practicing his play and Koyama ruining everything lol
This is why I am hoping for the bext ep to do better. I guess it's hard to show everything in 6 episodes.
Kiyoi don`t have the same height as Hira, Hira is more taller than Kiyoi, is just that Kiyoi looks more bigger…
Also a lot of dramas use hitting the top as a joke. At least utsukushii kare is specifically about two flawed people and they are supposed to make outsiders feel weird about their relationship. Like Koyama.
I'm "coming out" as one of the viewers who didn't like Kiyoi to start with but who now feels as though I've started…
>but ultimately wishing that Hira himself would better fit the role of a suitable boyfriend, and respond to Kiyoi as a person instead of an idol.
Not gonna lie , I am shocked that you got this massage from episode 5 since I truly believe they didn't do the best job with Kiyoi's POV since I saw some people even think that all Kiyoi wants is to be worshipped by Hira and that's just the opposite of the truth! Kiyoi liked Hira's attention but he doesn't like the worship anymore. He wants a boyfriend. I'm glad some people could still understand this about Kiyoi despite the show not doing the best job at showing it.
>On the other hand, from what I've seen here most of the people who have had their dissenting views about Kiyoi and the series have been making their points sincerely
This comment section is pretty chill but I've beed unfortunate enough to see people on other platforms who have entirely different opinions and some even hated on Kiyoi's actor apparently. It's sad really.
Overall great acting from the cast!👌
They went to work in another town during first ep and never came back😂
Yeah I mean , I found it silly at first and a little too extra but it wasn't bad.

Also Kiyoi was drunk and Hira was trying to stop him and grabbed his arm but I suppose non of it matters since Kiyoi isn't small and not a girl.
