Bruh.... I can't believe they did that to us. LOL wow.... For all the people wishing for a season 2. I doubt it.…
I would agree with you about the tragic ending being perfect for an horror, if it wasn't for the fact that the manga goes on after that scene: there are actually 6 or 7 more volumes to adapt.
And from the summaries I've read, they're going to be leaving out some very important parts (like, basically the whole execution of the story ahah, because the following chapters are dedicated to the main conflicts, to the backstories and to the resolution. Without those the story is incomplete) if they don't adapt the rest; even Keisuke's character doesn't make sense if it ends like this, since they set him up for something bigger than what was shown in the ending (they point out that he's different from the rest of the Gotos and there are hints that he has his own agenda, but without a sequel all of these things will go nowhere).
I know, I meant the bare minimum that any company do before releasing a show: officially announce the release date, release a poster and a trailer. These are basically a must and are usually done at least a month before the show releases, and the fact that so far we still have nothing is making me worried lol
It's not confirmed by Disney though. We just assume it's March because there were rumors about it being released in Q1 of the year and March was the most likely given that there was zero promotion for this to be released in Jan or Feb. If it's really March then they should start releasing something soon.
do you know how the manga ends? or if there's more after the last scene in episode 7?
Keep in mind that I looked for spoilers in Japanese with Google lens lol, so I don't know if it's all correct: so basically Daigo survives, but he is held captive in the Goto's torture room, while Yuki and Masahiro are held captive along with the other children. The scene at the end was an hallucination of Daigo. Keisuke helps Daigo escape and he will later help Yuki and Mashiro too, toward the end. He's actually a decent guy and he's been planning to change the Goto's family for the best. Daigo and the other cops are able to get the help from the special forces, and this basically starts a guerrilla with the Gotos and maybe the villagers too. The backstory of "that man" will be revealed and it will probably be a tragic backstory. This is more or less what I gathered. I don't know if everything is correct (but it should be more or less because I went back to read what has already happened and there weren't mistakes) or what happens to the other characters or if the drama will follow everything word by word.
Disney Plus Thailand (official account) on Twitter referred to these 7 episodes as Gannibal part 1. This doesn't confirm that they will make a second season for sure, but at least we can now assume that Disney+ didn't plan it as a limited series like some people thought.
do you know how the manga ends? or if there's more after the last scene in episode 7?
The manga is much longer, this is barely half of it. I know some spoilers (haven't read it myself) on how it continues from here, if you want I can tell you.
This was one hell of an ending for a season's finale, not as whole though (I don't mean that it was a bad episode, quite the contrary. It's just that there are still so many things that need to be properly explored. I'm fine with open endings, but this story has too much potential to simply stop abruptly like this). The manga doesn't end here and they've been adapting the story really faithfully, so if Disney+ lets them do their job the next season will be even more epic than the first. Here's hoping they confirm the renewal.
Agawa I believe has a savior complex, which is probably why he chose to be a cop. He could see it as his duty…
Totally agree. I think the show made it clear, especially in the last episode, that Daigo is not a normal person: he's a dangerous individual that enjoys violence and the rush of adrenaline that comes from being in a dangerous situation, he's also too arrogant for his own good and that was all shown since episode one when he gets attacked by a bear for taking the rifle away from someone more competent at hunting than him. He just happens to be one of the "good" guys, but he's not necessarily a good person. He cares about his daughter and wife, but his judgement was clouded because of this darkness inside of him; when Yuki calls him out he, at least partially, snaps out of it.
To be honest I've been thinking since the third episode that he's showing signs of having an antisocial personality disorder
It was 8.6 the first time I checked. I think the bad ratings are mostly from new Kim Tae Ri fans that wanted to…
I don't think it's review bombing, in the sense that I don't think they decided to give it low ratings to see it fall in the rankings; but if you scroll a little through the comments here some people weren't expecting a movie like this that is super erotic and super LGBT, and some of them didn't enjoy it. I noticed that a lot of kdrama fans are put off by heavy sex scenes, and this movie has them.
Is this gruesome? How bad is the gore? I would like some understanding of what I might be getting into. Thanks.
There is blood, some gore and a little body horror, both implied and on-screen, but none of those are exaggerated actually. The most disturbing thing about this drama is the topic, especially the second half tones down the gore while the storyline gets creepier.
I know right??!! It's been almost a year since I've enjoyed something this much and I'm sad that it's already…
Ah you're right, I almost forgot Netflix is on a killing spree against their own TV shows lol. I really hope Disney+ isn't as bad with renewals. The only thing that makes me a little worried is that they still haven't mentioned anything about Connect s2 and that one aired more than a month ago. I hope the same doesn't happen to Gannibal.Yup, I've been reading it online, but I would like to buy it (apparently in my country they translated 8 or 9 volumes so far). It's just that it's a little hard to find since it's not popular 😪. I've actually seen some spoilers for the manga by reading the synopsis and damn, let me just say that the following volumes seem to be crazy af. It would be such a waste to cancel it

Oh yes, indeed. This drama has such a bad combo: Japanese, Disney+ (if it was Netflix it would have been more popular) and horror, and even a type of horror that is more niche compared to survuvals, zombies and ghosts lol. It's almost a miracle that at least we have something that kinda resembles a fanbase. I've read the manga, but it's unfinished here: the english translation has only 19 chapters and the drama is already past that point. Like how unlucky can we get? 😂
I really hope there will be a second season or I'm calling the Gotos to attack Disney's HQ, I swear. I want to see the full story.
The monster appears briefly (at least until now) if that can help, and you usually can tell from the atmosphere when he appears, so I guess you could skip those parts if you want to give it a try anyway
Honestly? MDL's ratings mean jackshit as a metrics nowadays tbh. They are broken and inflated (especially in the…
Same for me, a lot of dramas I've loved last year were under 8. Some people are too trusting of the judgement of strangers online lol. I'd rather read the reviews if I want to get an idea of what I'm going to watch, rather than blindly follow the ratings

Anyway I'll just rewatch it until I'll find my new obsession and pray that we get another season and that the manga will get translated
