Oh, on that I agree, but that goes for every rating site. If something becomes popular then it will get inflated ratings; it's just more noticeable on mdl because there are so many mediocre dramas getting produced and they get hyped just because of the actors in it

That's not Mdl being broken, this is something that happens every time in every rating app when those who voted are still few. If you check it has less than 300 voters, which means the ratings can be easily changed right now.
For better or for worse, it's the only way they can get to 16 episodes.
They should just shorten the length at this point imo. Like, it's clear that most kdramas these days don't have enough ideas to fill 16 episodes (especially when each episode is almost movie's length)
Right i’m scared that it’s gonna become like link love or whatever the name was
I don't think it's going to be like that because that one you mentioned was more like a hybrid between the two genres, but it could get unnecessarily draggy with that storyline though
Could you elaborate why a bit? I haven't watched it.
It's a matter of opinion whether one likes it or not, but the show just wasn't that good. It had noticeable problems in terms of editing (too many cuts, confusing action sequences, continuity wasn't handled well, the bgm didn't always fit the scenes), vfx/cgi and directing, which was rather basic. The acting was good, but the characters were too flat so the writing didn't give much room for the actors to do great performances. The storytelling was weird, like the pacing was kinda fast, but at the same time it felt like nothing much happened because many scenes were redundant and the episodes were filled with lots of gags and action scenes; like there were so many things that could have been cut to give more screen time to the flashbacks (which were supposed to be an important part of the story), to the villains that seemed absent from the show until the last episode, and to the lore which was basically info dumped randomly. This caused the pacing to be all over the place imo.
Nevertheless, you can still give it a shot because a lot of people enjoyed it without thinking too much into it and its flaws. It can be entertaining if you like the genre.
If you're feeling bad and you need a warm hug or if you want to have your faith in humanity restored, just watch this drama: it will have the same effect. I've watched plenty of slice of life dramas, but this is probably the most wholesome out of them.
P.S. Does anyone know how many volumes the manga has? Is there a chance for a second season? Not that it absolutely needs one, but it would be nice to see more of these characters since the stories didn't have a definitive closure
They only found Kano's skeleton, meaning someone ate the rest of him (the half eaten body in ep.1 wasn't Kano,…
@adramalover Let's not forget that this drama has some supernatural elements, like That Man (zombie grandpa) who was shown eating a corpse in the first episode if I recall correctly. He's not exactly what one would call a human being.
As for the old woman: she wasn't dead by a long time, it was at most three days, I think; and it's a practice that actually existed in the past in some places in New Guinea, for example, and maybe other places too. Google "endocannibalism", you will find articles about it that will explain it better than I can (but to sum it up a bit: the body of the deceased was either left to decompose on its own so its relatives could eat the bones that were reduced to dust or they cremated the body and ate the ashes; but there happened a case, among The Foré, if that's how it's written in English, where they ate the whole body, and the consequences were catastrophic, not because of the flesh, but because the brains carried a disease that eventually spread among the population. It was called Kuru, if I recall correctly. Excuse my clunky explanation, but english is not my first language).
Back to Kano, he was a skeleton because somebody ate the flesh. I don't know if it's possible to identify the culprit because if the whole body disappears, except for the bones, is there any DNA left to analyze? And if the one who ate him was zombie grandpa, would they even be able to identify someone who officially doesn't exist? Even admitting that it's possible and that they have everyone's DNA, it would still take quite a long time to get the results probably (I'm not too sure about it though, since I'm not familiar with the details of how the forensic works and how long it takes precisely to get something done).
Okay, I'm a bit confused. They found Kano's dead body. Was it mutilated or half eaten? I don't remember. And that…
They only found Kano's skeleton, meaning someone ate the rest of him (the half eaten body in ep.1 wasn't Kano, it was Gin Goto and she was later eaten completely by her family for her funeral). As for the new guy, we still don't know his full story, either he escaped or he was rescued. What's weird is that someone started eating him without killing him first, that's what I'm curious about honestly lol.
This is the weirdest conversation I've had in a long while btw
At least it's above 8 here lol. Don't get me started on the ratings on imdb, totally unfair
Indeed! I know that Imdb ratings are different from here, and that they can be unfairly strict with Asian shows (and to a lesser degree with the movies too) compared to American TV shows that usually can get higher ratings even when they're not that good, but it's currently lower than a 7 there and usually on imdb shows that are rated lower than a 7 are the ones with noticeable issues that this drama doesn't have; that's why I mentioned it lol.
I'm actually content with its rating on mdl, considering that it is an horror jdrama, making it extremely niche compared to the popular ones.
Why only 7.4? I found a truly great apocalyptic story and great acting. What are the others punishing I cannot…
I guess a lot of people here simply aren't much interested in this genre (I noticed that darker dramas usually get the short end of the stick among drama fans), especially coupled with unpleasant characters, atypical plot and a directing style that is different than usual (which may be a little off-putting even for people who usually like watching thrillers). I personally loved it, but I understand why it's niche unfortunately. It's definitely worth more than a 7.4 though, especially here where the ratings are inflated.
I suppose Seok Koo speaking english isn't dubbed, right? His pronunciation seems really good, like much better and more natural than the average english spoken in most kdramas.
I'm putting it as a spoiler because it will likely affect the ending and some people may prefer not knowing anything.
Nevertheless, you can still give it a shot because a lot of people enjoyed it without thinking too much into it and its flaws. It can be entertaining if you like the genre.

Edit: I checked on Naver and it should be two eps each Friday, so basically three weeks.
