It's sismance, but there are some things that strongly imply that there is more than just friendship between the two. Of course I can't say more because it would be a spoiler ahah
There's definitely something going on between the two girls, but they never openly confirmed it because South Korea is still not that open toward LGBT and because the main genre of this drama is not romance. There's a strong bond between the two of them, but don't expect any kisses or cuddles.
I think they just suggested it because it's Sci-fi and about aliens, kdrama recommendations are never that deep…
I think the difference is that The Light in Your Eyes actually confirms that it was never about time travel the moment they revealed that the main lead was in truth an old woman with Alzheimer, there isn't much room for debate about it, while Glitch never really confirms or deny anything: either they imagined it because they all inhaled the gas released by the cult leader or the aliens were actually real and they saw humans as an experiment like Ji Hyo said. But I can see what you mean when you say that both dramas were misleading
I think they just suggested it because it's Sci-fi and about aliens, kdrama recommendations are never that deep…
I do agree with you that it's way more about cults than aliens, but this one cult happens to believe in aliens and UFOs and the leads themselves are obsessed about conspiracy theories related to aliens. And in the end the aliens actually show up, so I think that scifi should be in the tags, even though the drama itself is a mix of different genres.
For those who are in doubt about starting it, I think it depends on your expectations. If you're looking for something epic and action-packed like stranger things or a wholesome story about two girls and a cute alien like E.T. then you either change your expectations or you skip it because this drama won't be your cup of tea.
Glitch is a mix of psychological and Sci-fi adventure genre with a cult that believes in aliens as its main focus, but its strong points are the beautiful friendship/romance between the two leading girls wonderfully portrayed by two very talented actresses (if you like sapphic and/or women centric stories then please give it a try), the fact that it's not ashamed to be weird and out-of-the-box, the great production values (I personally loved the retro cinematography and the quirky soundtrack) and the fact that it's open to different interpretations; the ending doesn't answer all the questions, but instead it leaves room for multiple explanations depending on the point of view of the viewer.
I consider it a drama with different layers to it and it's up to you to decide if it's a story about alienation, a coming of age about a girl discovering her sexuality or if it's about collective hysteria and manipulation or if it's really at its core a story about aliens that are something bigger than us that can't be fully grasped by the human's mind. After all the drama itself doesn't try to explain what is the glitch in the story
No offense but who compared this to circle? Now that show is the only alien kdrama masterpiece
I think they just suggested it because it's Sci-fi and about aliens, kdrama recommendations are never that deep ahah. I personally strongly preferred Glitch though.
The hate for this series is quite excessive? Objectively speaking, there's many dramas more worthy of a "WoRsT…
Tbh the only issue I had with it was how it didn't solve most storylines, it seemed like there were two different stories that had no ties with each other. I hope the next season will fix it and give it justice (I don't really care about the cgi, this drama was never about the monsters anyway)
most of netflix originals kdramas have lower ratings on mdl
I think it's just the recent ones, though. Both D.P. and Move To Heaven have excellent ratings. Squid Game, Extracurricular and Juvenile Justice have good ratings too. Even The Sound of Magic and Money Heist have decent rating even though they weren't that good.
Idk why people are hating this drama so much, but I think it's a combination of people thinking Netflix is ruining the industry after it won at the baeksangs and the fact that this is an unconventional dramas in terms of plot and vibe. Also it doesn't have handsome oppas or romance. And it has a slow pacing too, not many twist or wtf moments and cliffhangers.
Yeah no I just don’t trust you guys anymore. I know 7.7 isn’t a bad rating per se and I am not pretentious…
I stopped trusting Mdl's ratings a long time ago when I realized that I hated most of the dramas that are above 8.5 and that a lot of them are almost a carbon copy of each other
Okay. Besides vietnam war controversy, some people in MDL and twitter called this drama is a makjang, second penthouse,…
The characters are regular people, so imo it's kinda normal that they do dumb things since it's coherent with their personality and they actually get called out on their ingenuity multiple times in the show. I never watched Penthouse, but I did watch Sky Castle and I think it's the same kind of makjang where even though crazy stuffs happen all the time and it's all a bit over the top, it never feels random or cheap. I'm personally enjoying quite a lot and I'm not into makjangs usually. I think you should still give it a try
I actually really liked the first episode and I hope it won't go downhill. It was slow, but not without purpose as it helps the viewer connect with Ji Hyo and her situation. It was intriguing, original and out-of-the-box, and quite honestly a much needed breath of fresh air in kdramaland. Fingers crossed the rest of the season won't disappoint
Yes, I wonder why kdramas generally seem to receive more backlash than American stuffs. I think Little Women is framing the people involved in the war as the bad guys, that's what matters to me and what people should focus on imo. I've also seen some people say that they should have written out of the drama the Vietnam War because it's not important and I genuinely don't understand how one can watch the drama and think that it's not important lol
Ah I see, thank you so much for adding the exact lines. So it's basically a matter of numbers being too much exaggerated for fiction purpose. I thought it was something even more offensive, like gloryfying the Korean soldiers actions during the war, I'm glad it isn't the case. Still I can kinda see why Vietnam would take offense for it
don't let the reviews ruin it, in my opinion so far it's a 8/10 ^^
Yes, I hope it will be one of those cases where I disagree with the consensus ahahah. This looked so weird in all the trailers, but in a good way, and I am totally looking for something different from the rest.
Jeez the reviews arent giving me much hope about this drama, that's too bad because I was kinda hyped. I'm still going to give it a try hoping for something that is at least decent enough :/
