Title LTNS
This reminds me of the 2023 drama "The Deal". Hope this won't have a bloody ending.
I thought about the Deal too, loved that one. But this one seems to be more unserious, so I don't think the ending will be as tragic

Title A Killer Paradox Spoiler
Haven't you watch Mouse (2021) kdrama starring Lee Seung Gi as Main Lead?
Yes, he does.

I actually think that Strangers From Hell is a better example than Mouse, because the ML in SFH has the opposite evolution: from a normal person with anger issue and a repressed dark side to a killer by the end.

Netflix also made Extracurricular (not a killer, but both FL and ML do bad things no matter how you look at it) and Somebody (still haven't watched it though). Tving also has Bargain where the main trio is completely bonkers and unlikable

This drama is my most favourite one and my go to too, the story, the visuals, Ahn Su yeongs character is everything…
Based on your faves it seem like you enjoy melodramas/slice of life, try watching: Lost, Call It Love and Our Blues. I loved The Interest of Love and My Mister and those three are some of my favorites as well

That's a good question. It didn't take this long for Yonder, so I wonder why they took their time with Bargain and A Bloody Lucky Day. For Bargain the wait was a full year, at least with ABLD it's only a few months, so I guess we're lucky lol

I don't know, but if the other dramas from tving came on Prime then it's likely this one will too

I wanted to start this, but are the subs really that bad? I heard that from episode 6 onward there is a huge drop in the quality of the subs which makes it difficult to follow the story. I don't wanna start it, get hooked, only to be forced to drop it because I can't make sense of what's happening.

I feel like that's a problem with most kdramas. They do it because fans like their clichés, but the 16 episodes format is growing old quickly. Most kdramas would be much better if they got rid of the typical format and were more focused.

I loved The Interest of Love, but I'm not going to pretend that I didn't wish they toned the music down and got rid of the typical kdrama elements that prevents the writers from making bolder stories.

I'm still liking it, though I think that the first two eps were better, but my problem with it is that the flashbacks where you see Ji An's growth and her relationship with her uncle are far more interesting than the main story, which is quite predictable so far imo.

We still don't know. Filming ended just a few days ago, so I guess it all depends on whether or not they started post-production while they were still shooting and how long it will take. Let's hope for a release in spring

If you want to correct people, at least do it right. You skipped a comma at the end, just before 5. The sentence doesn't make sense without it. Also, some people aren't native english speakers, which means it would take more time for them to make a 100% correct sentence. Do you truly believe that your comment was worth that time?

This had potential to be much more interesting, but it was ultimately underwhelming imo. The horror/thriller part was lacking, the characters weren't as complex as I would have liked either. The twist could have been much more impactful, but the reveal was handled quite poorly, as if it was just another piece of evidence to close the case. I wanted something like Gannibal, but this wasn't it.

Overall a 7/10 because the cinematography was amazing and there were some really strong performances, especially by Ryu Kyung Soo. But that's it. Still miles above Monstrous though.

Title The Bequeathed Spoiler
this is a dumb comment. some of the most highly rated kdramas on this site are thrillers like signal, kingdom,…
Well, let's agree to disagree. For me Beyond Evil is just good and in no way comparable to Hitchcock and Bong Jong Ho. It's a fun watch, but that's it. Beyond Evil is too long for its story, becomes stagnant in the second half and overuses red herrings. It's still a very good show and I liked it a lot, but I wasn't impressed by anything in it except Shin Ha Kyun. People were worshipping it as if it was the second coming of True Detective.

While I wasn't particularly impressed by Kingdom, I have to admit that the idea of uniting the historical genre with the zombie genre was brilliant. I just wish it was bolder with its storytelling though. Signal was groundbreaking in the kdrama industry (not outside because Frequency did it first), especially for its times, and deserves the praisings even though I'm not a big fan (but that's personal and has nothing to do with it's quality).

It sounds to me like you just hate experimental art. I love Da Vinci, but I also love Monet, Van Gogh (who was considered trash while he was alive) and De Chirico. Same way I love Bong Joon Ho as much as I love something like The Eraserhead from Lynch. That's the beauty of art.

Still, people should just make their own opinions about stuff and stop relying on ratings, esiwcially among kdrama fans where its common knowledge that most people rate staff based on which actors are in it, watch dramas on 1x5 because otherwise they get bored and loathe when dramas include controversial elements like nudity, gore, cheating. We have every reason to be doubtful about the scores here.

Calling Cannes winners artsy nonsensical films just means you don't like them. Other people enjoy those films. And at least it bought something new to the table compared to other thriller dramas that are just "here, do you want another red herring so you can continue to guess the killer for 16 episodes until we reveal that it was the most obvious person since episode 1? Do you want another story about corruption where the morally rightful lead goes against the evil bad guys?"

Like it or not, but it was fresh and unique, and you can't say that about many kdramas. But kdrama fans don't like novelty, they want familiar stories that makes them feel good. That's why shows like A Business Proposal are among the highest rated ones while shows with a more unique script and a more unique style of directing get low ratings. Of course it isn't always like that (for example, My Mister totally deserves its high ratings while Monstrous deserves the low ratings), but you can't treat the ratings here like the Bible. When it comes to western shows I always, or almost always, agree withe the consensus, but when it comes to kdrama it's clear that most people don't care that much about quality

(putting it under spoiler tag because we went off topic from the drama and I don't want to bother people who are looking for opinions about the drama itself)

Listen, I'm not defending this drama, okay? I still have to finish it and I'm not that impressed so far, but thinking that the ratings mean anything, especially here, is just straight up wrong.

If you need proof: Bargain is literally the only kdrama to ever win an award at Cannes and it has only an 7.4 here while even the most mediocre thrillers like Big Mouth can get an 8.5 among kdrama fans just because it has a pretty face as the leading man. But if you want to trust these strangers online so much then sure, go on, but don't try to convince other people that the ratings are fair lol.

Except for Signal, they are all quite fast paced, especially kingdom. Beyond Evil has plenty of fanservice too.

The comments are divided makings things complicated for me lol to watch or not to watch.
Give it a try, it's not too long. I only watched the first two episodes so far, and I feel a bit conflicted. The mistery is intriguing, but the pacing is a bit questionable. I usually like slowburn thrillers, so I will continue it, but if you prefer fast paced thrillers then I probably wouldn't recommend it.

It's a slow burn thriller with no fanservice, don't expect the ratings to go above 8.0 or 8.1
