This was one of the best starts I've seen in a kdrama. I hope the following episodes maintains the same tone and pacing, with a strong focus on the family dynamic and on characters introspection. The uncle-niece dynamic is what makes the show interesting, so I personally hope the action won't become too dominant.
I heard that Disney+ would stop producing dramas in 2024 because there was almost no profits. Not even Moving is…
A season 2 could find a new home if Disney+ refuses to produce it, as long as the writer wants to do another season. Take Weak Hero for example: it started on Wavve, but next season will be produced by Netflix. Something similar may happen to this one too.
Maybe the real drama was the casting we made along the way. What a rollercoaster.
Kim Go Eun is another fave of mine, so I'm still happy with the casting, but please keep Jeon Do Yeon. Can they please start filming it before it changes again? Lol
"this evening on CMG’s 2nd China TV Drama Annual Gala, the host mentioned #BlossomsShanghai has been translated into different languages and will be broadcast overseas."
Found this on Twitter posted by a fan account. I don't know much else, but let's hope it's true and we'll get the subs soon.
YALLJEON DOYEON & KIM JIWONEUREKAhttps://v.daum.net/v/20240109165501434
To be honest, I like this cast much more (not that I have anything against the old one, they were good too). I hope they accept, they would totally slay their roles, and this finally gets made; I need more sismances in thrillers.
Ignore the rating here and watch the drama. It's a minimum 8, if people could be objective enough.
Yes, I don't get the hate. People complain that it involves an affair, but it was clear from the trailer so why bother watching it. Just to bring the ratings down? They complain that it's too much angst, but it's a melodrama about lost chances and miscommunication. They complain that the character don't make sense, but then they misunderstand some key plot points that the drama actually explains in depth, making me think that they actually skipped most scene or watched it while doing something else.
To be honest, the only reason why it gets so much hate is that it doesn't follow the typical kdrama romance formula: we don't see the main characters become a couple, they are not people you can easily root for because they make mistakes and moreover a lot of time is spent on the leads being in a loveless relationship with other people, so the lovey dovey moments we usually see in kdramas that provide an escapists fantasy are not here.
Not saying it doesn't have its flaws (like pacing issues, especially in ep 13 and 14, the ost being a bit overused), but honestly, which kdrama doesn't have flaws?
The Interest of Love is a great show and it received enough praisings by the critics. Cine21 even gave it the…
I need to get back into it. I watched it when I wasn't in the mood for it so my impression wasn't good (same thing happened with TIOL), but I really want to give it another try because I love this type of dramas
After reading some spoilers of the "original" japanese one. The rating still high. 8,6 to 8,7 since the start.…
The Interest of Love is a great show and it received enough praisings by the critics. Cine21 even gave it the third place in the top 10 shows of 2023, right after Moving and The Glory which were extremely popular. You shouldn't confide too much in other's people ratings.
Anyway, both The Interest of Love and Tell Me That you Love Me are easily among the best melodramas in kdramaland, regardless of what people might have wanted to happen.
Ah yes, the problem is the one who killed himself, not the police that made him go through 19 hours of interrogation…
Who says that they don't think about the people that they care about before killing themselves? Where does this idea come from? Maybe he thought about them and he was in pain about leaving them behind, but he just couldn't do it anymore. He needed therapy and time to heal, not a drama that assumes that suicidal people are selfish and ungrateful. And he didn't just kill himself, he was pushed to suicide. We should start recognizing the difference.
Lee Sun Kyun should have watched this before he offed himself.9/10
Ah yes, the problem is the one who killed himself, not the police that made him go through 19 hours of interrogation because he took some drugs, the industry that canceled him or the press that stalked him and his family. This stupid comment is the reason why the approach the drama took about suicide prevention is actually problematic. Just stop it with the victim blaming if you truly care.
The recommendations here are good, especially Strangers From Hell. But the closest things I've watched are probably…
I personally loved it, but keep in mind that it will have a season 2. A friend of mine was disappointed with the ending of the first season because she thought that it was really the ending.
I loved Strangers from Hell and the Guest too, by the way.
Agree with everything, but also wanted to add that the message of the show also ignores that there are a lot of…
And in a country like SK, with a very high suicide rate, you can't pretend that the problem is the individual, you can't just say "they were selfish because they didn't think about their loved ones and ungrateful because they couldn't appreciate what they had", if a country has a high suicide rate then there's without any shadow of doubts a problem with the country itself. We see in kdramas how much SK values social status, how big is the gap between the rich and the poor, how hierarchy is still a thing, how bullying is a serious issue in schools, how much alchol they consume, how hypocrite they are with their censorship etc. All those things are part of the problem, but the writers decided to ignore those issues and just put all the blame on the fact that people don't realize how beautiful life truly is.
When Death said that all the people who died of suicide regretted their decision and begged for a second chance I rolled my eyes, especially knowing that the government promoted the show. Like, you're in no position to say something like that unless you can promise those people a better tomorrow than what they imagined.
fr tho like what is the point of making a comment publicly and not wanting people to respond. disliking a film…
Excuse me, but what the hell?? You accuse people of being bots because they because they joined a few years ago or this year, but you're the one with a blank profile. You say that you didn't watch this drama and yet you talk about it as you did. You call Wong Kar Wai a mediocre director? The guy who made In The Mood for Love, Chungking Express and Happy Together? One of the most revered directors of all time? If you watched any of his movies you wouldn't be here spitting this nonsense about him.
Yea, after episode 5 it went downhill rapidly. That episode 6 was like those countless crime dramas about corruption…
I had the same issue with it. I hate how conservative SK government is: they saw how high the suicide rate in SK is and they're pretending to do something about it by......victim shaming. Way to go, congrats.
So basically, their way of dealing with the problem is pretending that there is no problem and that people are just creating those problems in their heads because they're ungrateful and selfish. People shouldn't kill themselves since there are people that have it worse, one should be grateful that they're not a homeless even though all their efforts of making something good out of their life are going to waste. Society is not to blame here, it's all about the victim and how ungrateful they are according to them.
