@Shannon So you've never watched "Coffee Prince"? It's a true classic you can't possibly skip as a k-drama fan!…
It is cringey. Yet, it’s Gong Yoo who really sells it. I was forewarned the first three episodes were boring, so I I just powered thru (read FF) those parts. By mid episode three, the acting of the ML and FL starts to really shine and you will become more intrigued by Yoo’s growing confusion. IMO, the story is not interesting. It’s the superb acting from Gong Yoo and the FL that sells this weird story. Like I said before you can feel his confusion. Here is my suggestion: FF thru until you get to the opening of the cafe, then FF thru everything but their parts. I am currently on episode 12, but I braked here because considering the trope…I know what is coming next. I need to regroup for the final stretch. Yet, if you don’t watch it…no worries. Meh…he is good actor, so check out Seo Bok because I don’t believe in peer pressure…lol 😉
There's a reason you can't get into Goblin. Your view's too narrow to take in the whole picture. You and everyone…
lol...my view is not too narrow. Perhaps you and your view is just...gross and you haven't figured it out yet. Like when you smell something bad…then you realize it’s you, Anyways, to each their own.
This was cute. The two leads look good together and there are no conflicts in this drama at all. The lack of interesting secondary characters made this a bit of a snooze for me, but overall it’s a good background drama. The ML is a cutie.

I already took the plunge and I am on episode 7. 👍🏽 Gong Yoo’s confusion is hilarious and he plays it so “straight” you can feel it emanating from him. And agree the FL is very ambiguous in looks.
I'm enjoying this so far. I had been hesitant to take a risk because of the low rating, but if you don't mind excessive chaebol melodrama then it's actually pretty good. It's taking a while for the main lead couple to grow on me, but I am enjoying the second leads immensely. Not sure why the rating on this is so low, though I haven't finished yet.
yes I like it so far, I like PHS in anything so my answer will be very biased lol
I am going to wait unto this finishes before jumping in because I took your advice and started High Society. That clip! I am only on episode three but I see what everyone else sees and I am enjoying the second lead chemistry and story far better than the main couple. I also see why folks are a bit shocked by his appearance in Happiness. He looks like a man-boy in HS verse a more mature man in Happiness. The guy is handsome either way, but I prefer the mature man. It even looks like he grew in height and bone density.. I think if he would have had at least one shirtless scene in Happiness, then the naysayers would be drooling instead.

😀 I just took the plunge with Coffee Prince! And I agree it aged well, I know I am watching an older drama, but it doesn’t feel like it in terms of quality. Gong Yoo is a really good actor. Plus…are these older dramas more racier? I swear he has had his shirt off in like four episodes straight…lol…which I am not complaining about! Still not a fan of the gender bender trope, but you guys have been right so far about this drama. I’m on episode 7 and I am enjoying it.
I have taken the plunge. I am on episode one and is it me…or is this older drama more racier than newer ones? I feel like Gong Yoo has had his shirt for most of episode one. Not that I’m complaining. But I got one question for people who have seen this. Does FL get a makeover at some point in the drama?
edit:
So I finished it and it's a good watch for Gong Yoo's acting. I tend think the rating for this drama reflects that more than anything else.
It’s pretty crazy but it’s got something to do with her mom and stepdad, not her necessarily. But thinking…
😳 This is crazy. What do his fans think will happen to him if her marries this girl? A truck protest? Like… they held up the road with trucks over who this guy is dating???
Age gaps matter only in wokeists' bubbles. not in dramas, not in real life. No hurt ever came to Kim Go Eun for…
It’s not a woke thing. I read romance and started with bodice rippers, so age gap is nothing new. It’s just the acting combined with the visual skeeved me out. Again, I can’t put an exact finger on why because it was just everything. Though, considering how many people love Goblin, I do feel sad I can’t join in 😔

Wow....say no more. I have no problems with wrist grabs and forced kisses. I read Kindle, man! It's usually that K-dramas don't age well in other aspects like...they look a bit cheap and the directing and so forth is not as polished as it is now.
Same here. It was creepy in Goblin. Super creepy (I am ok with age gaps) but here it was wrong because he was…
I think I’ll watch the movie if only to to see if it skeeves me out. I was actually surprised that I didn’t like Goblin. It seemed like it would be right up my alley, but…I had to turn back.

The Woody Allen analogy fits. It felt…kind of…gross. Not exactly sure why though because it’s just gross. 🤷🏽♀️ I haven’t seen that version of Jane Eyre, but I know which one you’re talking about. Honestly, the experience with Goblin was a little eye opening for me because in book form I have no problem with age gap romance or May/December, but I realize in visual form that all depends on the actors. If it looks or feels gross, then it’s a no-go for me.
I love PHS and Happiness, too! The romance is moving along nicely, imo! A lot of lingering looks and ML being…
Thanks., I got to get over my Red Sleeve obsession and Jun Ho. I haven’t been able watch any other sagueks (sp) since, but this guy is worth me letting go of TRS…lol
