😳 I legit had no idea about that stat. That is sobering to read. I agree what I wrote may be an unfair assessment. I’ll grant that. Yet, it is the same as those who look down on “western” culture with our permissiveness and liberal ideals. I guess I just question the tactics. Yet, in truth it sounds like the goal is not to save him, but shame and punish him from repeating the action. However, while he may never use drugs again he will “suffer” forever from the stigma and shame, and the likelihood he will take his own life seems high due to that stat you mentioned. This in fact may not “save” his life in the long run at all. Counterproductive.
That's what I don't get. The absolute glorification of soju drinking with translated expressions that read, "Drink…
Not a comparison, but an observation of a culture that seems to encourage over-drinking. The societal ills and health dangers from over drinking are well documented and as dangerous and pervasive as drug abuse; yet, the stigmatization of over-drinking doesn't seem to require the punishment that using drugs does in SK. Yet, both vices usually result from the same psychological stressors, but it just seems SK says go for the soju instead and you won't get punished as a "sinner"....lol. Again it's an observation from a westerner not a moral statement on rightness or wrongness. I feel for the guy either way.
People write here without knowing South Korean law. In this country, it is not only illegal to possess drugs,…
Wild! The sad thing is this is an actor I notice and look for. I don't know his name, but I remember him from several dramas I like and I loved him in #ALIVE. He is an incredibly good actor and it seems he has dedicated his life to the craft; yet, this will destroy any possibility of him ever doing what he is actually very good at. Such a waste of talent... SK should look at RDJ and remember he was a raving druggie once and now he is IRON MAN!

😳 That is...interesting. Wow...just wow. This is what happens when most of your knowledge of a country is derived from entertainment shows. I am still perplexed by a country that seems to encourage over-drinking, with translated expressions that read, "Drink till you die", has these sort of strict drug laws. Yet, rehab and psychological treatments are frowned upon and shunned in SK. It's like they created a net to catch drug users without any actual safety nets for the drug user. It's illegal and if caught you go to jail! Wow...just wow. Though, I like the idea of saving addicts because far too many are lost to the scourge. This doesn't seem like it's going to save him or anyone else. Jail is punitive. It's not meant to save you, but punish you.
Actor is suffering from sleeplessness and possibly depression. Koreans: let's destroy his career too. As if people…
That's what I don't get. The absolute glorification of soju drinking with translated expressions that read, "Drink till you die!" This is the same country randomly drug testing its citizens????
So SK randomly tests its citizens for drugs? Just random...like on a Tuesday your name might be pulled from a drug testing lottery? 🤷🏽♀️ Why isn't this portrayed in more K-dramas? Feels like you could mine some gold from random drug testing of the entire population.
If the drugs are not legal in the country, of course it's crime. And why... Well, there can be any reason.
If he was tested for drugs because he was caught during the commission of a crime then this might make sense, but it reads like he was just tested by some random authority and is now facing jail time for drugs use. Like he didn't even commit a crime and he was just randomly drugged tested by the state and he failed the whiz test and is now going to jail. I mean...that is what it reads like. And if this is the case...why not rehab instead of jail? What if dude travelled to Amsterdam where coke and weed are legal? What if he "accidentally" ingested weed and coke...lol? What if had surgery which would explain the propofol? I mean...I feel like a good lawyer could get this guy off without even trying.
I just have one…or maybe a few question here. How did he get caught? Why was he taking a drug test in the first place? And even if he tested positive, without seeing him consume the drugs how is that a crime? Can you be arrested in SK just for testing positive for drugs? Is there a yearly testing or something? And why aren’t more people going to jail? This all seems weird to my western way of thinking.
@Shannon So you've never watched "Coffee Prince"? It's a true classic you can't possibly skip as a k-drama fan!…
🤣🤣 You know we have both been involved in numerous Superman vs. Batman debates/battles… Our houses are too fragile to throw stones. And…Superman is still better! 🦸🏾♂️
Edit: Also thanks for the recommendation. I just added Silenced to my list. It’s on Netflix.

Seriously, this story was well told and acted from a realistic standpoint and it is Gong Yoo that sells that. When he is on screen he is a presence and he elevates everyone around him. Considering this was made in 2007, the story holds well because of that acting. Though now you have me curious, what happened to the FL? Considering you can be cancelled in SK for breaking up a with girl or boy too harshly, then I am seriously curious as to what she did to get cancelled...lol
And, I am learning to leave these rabid fans alone. They too crazy for me 🤪 I am a comic lover and my fangirl holds a Superman comic. So I can sympathize, but my idol is all about truth and justice so I try to keep it chill. Plus...I'm too hold to hang with this young fanatics anymore..lol

YES!!!! I finished yesterday! I really enjoyed Gong Yoo's acting. That's what made this drama for me. He amazed me in this and he is compelling to watch. I am not a fan of the trope, but I appreciate that they played it somewhat straight with relatively few slapstick moments. It was a well told and acted story. I also appreciated all the damn shirtless scenes in the beginning...lol. I am glad I finally watched it. Again, I can't say I like the trope and I still want to see him in another romance, but I think he's the type of actor that will always go for unusual roles that are a little out of the box. Thank you for the recommendation and encouraging me to watch. One of the reasons I have taken an interest in Asian dramas is the uniqueness of them, so I have to remember to be adventurous and don't just give in to a type or preference. You can miss something really good when you do that. So again...thank you 🙏🏽 😊 Though...I still ain't watching Goblin. That's a no-go! 😁
This behavior, while flattering and intense, seems like a recipe for a "fanatic" to kill their idol over some silly perceived insult or slight. Is this what has to happen before fans eventually check their own behavior?
It’s pretty crazy but it’s got something to do with her mom and stepdad, not her necessarily. But thinking…
Are there no laws agains this? It seems and is harassing and would be illegal if these people weren't celebrities. There should be a line as to how much your fandom can affect someone's else everyday life, especially if that person isn't a fan or a part of the fandom . This just seems like encouraging of bad behavior that will not stop until one of these "idols" is badly injured or killed by a "fan" (fanatic).
Tax mistakes are common because accounting errors are common. As long as he has paid his taxes regularly then he will pay the fine and move on with life. Also, if he employed a tax accountant they may assume all liability for the error, since it was likely their job in the first place. Again, accounting errors happen and so do tax reporting mistakes. It's not a big deal unless you were trying to avoid paying taxes, then that is a crime. And even Al Capone was put in jail for not paying taxes. Heck! It was the only the government could use to put in him jail.....lol. LMH will be fine, folks.
Just for reference folks...I myself was once audited by the U.S. government for....3,936,884.39 won, which is about $3000 USD because I forgot to include a 1099 I had received for contract work. Mistakes happen during taxes and they are very common. You hope they don't happen, but they do. Pay your taxes regularly and try to avoid mistakes. That's the lesson to be learned here, because those mistakes cost actual money and depending on the severity of the mistake may cost you actual time in prison, too. Also you may want to invest in a tax accountant who provides insurance if they make a mistake like this. They also assume all the liability in some cases. FYI
I watched this again recently because I felt like I didn't give it a fair shake the first time around, but it made me realize why I didn't really care for it overall and gave it a six. Both the ML and FL are decent actors and both characters are interesting to watch on screen. Yet, the lack of chemistry between the ML and FL (for me) was because I could not understand what the ML saw in her. She is just a complete airhead for most of it, so I never understood why he was attracted to her in the first place. No matter what type of growth happens for the FL, I'm so stumped I'm never able to buy into the romance from the get go. Then add in the fact the FL is just as confused as to what the ML sees in her and she is so confused (airhead) that as a viewer I am again wondering what he sees in her and vice versa.
I'm only seven episodes in, but I feel like this is a much better version of Boss and Me. The ML and FL have much better chemistry here and the story line fits their acting styles. Also I am finding some of the cloth making, dying and whatnot to be interesting. Considering how many clothes are made in China that part is legitimately interesting. Hope this keeps going this way, though I am daunted by 45 episodes. Whew! That's way too many for this unless they plan on adding a crap load of melodrama at some point because so far this is really light and easy.
Edit: someone please add the older/man younger woman tag
Le sigh...if I have to FF through like 20 episodes of a 45 episode drama then the drama should only be 25 episodes. Literally everything that happens between episode 15-40 is pointless, not entertaining, boring, and again...pointless. There are some cute moments here and there, but I recommend watching this on YouTube so you can FF to the most watched parts. It will save you a ton of time.
