You're so right. i think she got too self-confident, thinking she can get away with anything because she's smart, she can make excuses at the drop of a hat and that's because she's a compulsive liar. And she really has no consideration for others. Take the case of when Shi Yan went to visit her at Qing'an. Because she got scared he'd probe her about what happened with Xhing Zhou and Le zhi, she excused herself from his company, lied she had a prior commitment with Shi Yue, and left Shi Yan to fend for himself at Qing'an.

I think Shi Yan just had it with her lies and is too heartbroken to be able to take more of them. Perhaps he was apprehensive he won’t be able to control himself and break down in front of her in public. In any case, he thinks she still likes her ex, so perhaps he is also giving her space to think things through

agree with all your points. i think it’s ok to mention other dramas to validate a point but to say drama x is better or watch drama x instead feels tacky and low for me

he did ask her to explain the situation to him in the car, after the uncle-niece revelation, but she lied again saying it's not a big deal, that it's just about the girl speaking ill of her in the banquet. Though that did happen, Shu Yi knew pretty well that's not the explanation Shi Yan expected and deserved to know.

i think that's the main issue here. People have expectations and stereotypes and have a hard time letting go. That's one thing that boggles my mind about cdrama viewers. They want a drama to be similar to one they liked before and when the new drama deviates from their expectation, they'd complain. For example, a lot of viewers here expect the story and cast to be the same as Life is Sweet. Why don't they just rewatch the old drama? Do they really want to be watching the same stories and characters? Don't they want their favorites actors to grow in their craft and tackle new characters? It boggles the mind.

it seems viewers have forgotten or probably skipped the scenes, but for all her immaturity, Shu Yi is fundamentally a good person. She is hard-working, she does not accept bribes, she does not fight back Yuling's dirty tricks with dirty tricks of her own, she's a good daughter and like Shiyan, she wants to do something to benefit society like upgrading the online magazine.

definitely! the internet is abuzz at her immaturity. Bai Lu sure did a great job bringing such a controversial character to life

i think he sensed she wavered at a question that somebody who was truly in love shouldn’t have done. but he still accepted her answer. he knew how flaky she could be. what he couldn’t accept was her using him to get back at her ex. he interpreted that as her still having some feelings for the guy.

them lacking chemistry is your own opinion because i and a lot of other viewers have been feeling it since they met. you might want to curb your prejudice against dylan too as you seem quite hung up on LIS thus can’t accept this new pairing

yup, viewers probably expected her to be mature coz she is a career girl. That was what I thought so too. The "flirty female lead" tag had intrigued me from the start. And that did make all the difference. Her decision to flirt sprung from immaturity. Perhaps she thought she was being sophisticated. but using and toying with people could only be done by immature and selfish characters.

I'm liking the drama better during rewatch - i'm noticing more details that I didn't notice before because there were many details to watch out for to fully understand and enjoy the story, including the talks about millimeter wave chips technology. This is a big deal in tech world right now and Shi Yan being interested in going into this field shows what a visionary he is. To really understand his character is to understand what he is into.

What impressed me most was Shi Yan's intelligence and business acumen. The way he dealt with Mr. Tian and other business associates, as well as during his interview with Yi Yang at the chips conference, he sounded logical, mature and diplomatic. I was too mesmerized by his appearance the first time around 😄 I didn't notice how powerfully he delivered his lines. Dylan did justice to this formidable character.

yup, her dream was all about her career. she did not count on getting involved romantically
