if an immature FL is common in cdramas, why are viewers mad at Shu Yi? she's just sticking to the conventional FL role then. was there an expectation that the FL is going to be mature from the get go?

Actually, that made it exceedingly more interesting for me. because it showed how flawed the FL is. She's got an EQ of a 10 ten year old. But I had already gotten drawn to her so I really really would like to see how she would manage a climb to maturity that suddenly got steeper than I thought it was.

Her using Shi Yan to get the online magazine upgrade going was already a sticky point between them. Has she forgotten how mad he was when she blurted out her new year's wish for the success of the project instead of a wish for their relationship? Mentioning the collaboration right after Shi Yan finds out about the second time she used him is worse than splashing water on a drowning dog or adding insult to injury. Shu Yi can really be clueless 🤨

it was her dream to upgrade the online magazine, to advance to that area of their business, and she used Shi Yan to get the interviews that would attract viewers to their site. whether the experiment is successful or not is immaterial, and nobody could have foreseen, least of all her, that she would pull herself away from the project. but her original intention remains - use Shi Yan to realize her dream.

Is there a rule in cdramas that lead characters cannot be immature? In fact, that's one thing that intrigued me about the story. The FL is not the conventional type of sensible and mature FL. Her journey to maturity is a big piece of the plot. That's how the character has been written.

So if the characters are acting immature, that's because they're supposed to feel, get confused, get angry, like, you know, how real people go.

And if you're getting mad at their immaturity, then the drama and actors are doing their jobs. They're getting you to care about the characters and the story.

seems like the only important thing for you is the kissing. while this drama does have sweet kissing scenes and chemistry between leads if one is open enough to feel it, it has way MORE SUBSTANCE than just kissing scenes. so just enjoy your fave drama

advancement in that she is advancing to a path she'd always wanted to take in her career. in fact, if her employer is forward-thinking, they'd realize that's the future of print media

ikr, when we say something positive about the drama, we get all sorts of snide remarks, even accused of blindly admiring the actors and not having critical thinking. Why would I say otherwise when I can see the plot, feel the chemistry, and not feel it's dragging? And we are called undemocratic too, when we try to defend the drama. Don't we also have the right to say our piece?

Shi Yan's problem is that he doesn't know if Shu Yi really likes him. He lamented, "it wasn't me you were after". He thinks Shu Yi still likes her ex-bf

Yes, Shi Yan would easily be able to find a girl who would treat him much better. Unfortunately, he fell in love with her. The discussion topic "Choosing a Partner Like a Venture Capitalist with Shi Yan [Long] [Analysis]" lists some reasons why. And we can see how well matched they truly are. If only she can sort herself out, learn to be less self-centered and selfish. Hopefully their break-up will give her the wake-up call she needs.

That phrase, "Can I choose neither" is so devastating. After all Shi Yan is, after everything he did for her, she still couldn't choose him instinctively? No wonder she didn't want their relationship known 🤬 She is truly messed up. As her parents said, she is spoiled. That's why I was looking forward to this break-up. Exactly! Isn't the choice obvious between a gold-digging ex who dumped her for a "rich" girlfriend vs intelligent, upright, dignified, dependable Shi Yan who treated her like a queen after they became a couple? That was when I doubted her feelings for Shi Yan which was truly heartbreaking 😭

I agree. I don't think Shu Yi fully understands her feelings for Shi Yan herself. Even her reasons for pursuing him. One is for career advancement, which Shi Yan already knows and has accepted. But the second one, about getting back at her ex, is rather vague. In ep 22, when Xing Zhou asked her if she went after Shi Yan to get back at him, she was concerned that if Xing Zhou thinks so, Shi Yan would think so too. So, was it true? Yet Shu Yi wouldn't tell anybody, not even herself in her musings, whether it was true or not. I think that at first, that was her intention, but when she first saw Shi Yan, when he rolled down the window of his car when she pretended to be looking for a power bank, I think she fell in love at first sight. Her eyes couldn't hide her admiration at what she saw. So perhaps she pursued him because she liked him and just used career advancement and revenge as excuses when she talked with shanshan and also because she couldn't face the truth she fell in love with him.

I remember these coz I rewatch episodes every time there are no updates 😃 There are many details that are likely to be missed with the many things going on in each episode. That's why I can't understand those who say it's dragging. I'm already very focused on the drama when I watch, yet I still miss some details.
