Someone asked yesterday what Tao has ever done for Luan Nian. I just want to address that.
LN never needed anything from her. From a wealthy family, great job that he loves and that pays really well; money is nothing to that man. Instead, his interest in people was lacking. He was insanely picky about people since he was little, rarely liked people and if he did, not for a long time, and never felt the need to be committed to one person for a long time. And even when he liked them, he never felt the need to put in the work to build a real long-term relationship. He didn't care about their emotions enough and just never felt afraid of losing them.
Tao was the first person he felt that way with. Firstly, he just needed someone he would like enough to want to actually try. Then, after that, he needed someone (in this case, her) who could make him feel that he could be loved, because people made him feel that they were just tolerating him because of his difficult personality. He only needed that from her. Interestingly, her forgiveness and calmness when he would get mad, her ability to try to hear him out, was a big deal for him. She would try to understand what he was trying to say beneath his harsh words and what his intentions really were. Basically, she gave him the benefit of the doubt a lot. That’s all he needed from her. He didn’t always get that from her, but he did get it from her a lot, especially in the first 4-5 years of their relationship. She made a big effort to really get who he is inside. That’s all he needed. So she did give him that.
