Their crushes must've felt intense in their pov. I experienced something similar, and it was sooo awkward for no evident reason whenever we would cross paths. It was a serious crush from my pov, which was made weirder by a friendship group situation just like this show. Because we were literally nothing and hadn't spent much time together anyway, others didn't understand why the air would get so awkward, but I was just so embarrassed and uncomfortable for a long time around them, even after the feelings had died out. If I hadn't experienced it myself, I probably wouldn't get her either lol

If you think about it, apart from his cowardice, life also played its hand. When he went over to her uncle's place to tell her about his feelings (presumably), she wasn't there and thought she would never be back, and then she also never found out that he had gone there. They also had so much miscommunication. Life has also played its part in keeping them apart, and imo, for good reason. Ofc, if he were a more confident person, these things wouldn't stop him.
