Lmao, don't worry, you are not the only one. πŸ’€ There are quite a bit of drama watchers on the C-side already…
I think people just got so invested in Wei Zhao's storyline (+ the ship) that they want to see more of that versus the Pei family side. I always think good of the entire drama > individual actor/actress so I don't mind when other characters get explored more but I can understand their frustration especially since yesterday was also just 1 episode drop and we all know how C-fandoms are like when it comes to screen time, etc. They can argue over anything and everything. But if a drama does well at the end of the day, all of them will benefit.

Not Wei Zhao giving Jiang Ci that knife he stabbed her with from episode 1 so she can use it to protect herself…
They are so cute, I love them!!!

Hahaha I am sorry but I only want to watch Jiangci and xiaowuxia and yueluo storyπŸ€πŸ˜πŸ˜…πŸ˜… I got pissed…
Lmao, don't worry, you are not the only one. πŸ’€ There are quite a bit of drama watchers on the C-side already complaining under the official Douyin account that there is not enough focus on Wei Zhao especially when they are in Yue Luo. They want to get more into his backstory instead of just a 20 second flashback. He will probably have more focus from episode 22/23 onward I think.

Wei Zhao came in clutch. A Le seems like he did probably be okay with dying. Yu Lian even said sometimes, there are things more important than death. He is one facet of some of the Yue Luo people ready to die at any point (if it means just hurting even one of the Liang/Wei soldiers).

Lmao hey, he did meet Wei Zhao at the right time (and his grandma was around)! Tbh, it is not even certain his character would survive until the end.

That is why the novel was quite the experience. I just wrote a post about it. The novel basically shows how the…
Yes and no IMO. Because I do get the ultimate message.

But all of them would have to "forgive" things of equal value for their partnership in the end to make sense. We have Jiang Ci who literally has to "forgive" the attempted SA while Pei Yan doesn't have to "forgive" that kind of trauma because there was none of that nature done to him by Jiang Ci.

In addition, the drama made it explicitly clear what their position is about SA with the Ayan case. Jiang Ci is someone who did fight tooth and nail against something like that and there would be no way she would be willing to give up one woman's justice for "the greater good" aka hide corruption so the men can continue their plotting.

I am actually glad the novel writer changed this part for the drama because no way would any of the drama viewers especially the C-side would be able to accept that (especially with our current events). This would have been straight up reported for the message it would have been sending by C-netz aka there exists a timeline where you did have to work with your attempted r*pist for world peace. πŸ’€

I lost the thread again, so I just want to elaborate on people comparing the drama characters to the novel characters and them being "less intense". It is better to think of this as an AU because it is in the sense with their background changes and different position of power.

Wei Zhao in the novel has low self-esteem (due to the background that was removed in the drama) and rarely made the first moves with Jiang Ci because he thinks he is unworthy to be with her.

Pei Yan was already prime minister in the novel like someone had mentioned so his power and position is higher than the current one in the drama. Pei Yan is "more intense" in the novel due to the experience he has as a prime minister already. In addition, some of his actions toward Jiang Ci are not redeemable in the novel (especially for today's standard) to justify the three of them working together in the future. Jiang Ci would have been dragged to filth by the viewers unfortunately if she was still in the same room/working partnership with Pei Yan despite what he did to her in the novel (and yes, because viewers tend to drag the female characters more so she would have been blamed for it). I think it is great to use the novel as reference, but we have to also understand the drama version changed parts of their settings and these changes does influence their actions and attitudes. It might seem "less intense", but I actually think it makes them more fleshed out and more "human". Because some characters are attractive on paper but in drama, they are actually not that attractive, so changes did need to be made.

For the first 9 episodes, he is pretty much trying to kill or use her. There are glimmers of moments where you…
Yup, Jiang Ci would have done that for Ayan too if Ayan was the one in potential danger, so it is not like at that point in time, Wei Zhao was extra "special" to her. She just knows he is doing something important, and a lot of people are depending on him so she can't allow him to be exposed. But definitely signs of budding feelings + the contrast with Pei Yan at that point would just make her lean more into him.

TIME TO POP ZIMING & JIANGCI SHIP I knew something was off with Ziming but to learn this just make so much sense!
I don't think that is the case in the drama. They changed both of their identities from the novel so they shouldn't be related either way.

Did anyone else get confused by the bridge scene when they crossed and met the young guy?
That area is essentially a watch tower to warn others and set traps to delay. A Le is not really meant to fight, he really is just supposed to be there with his grandma and observe the bridge (attached with bells so his blind grandma can hear) for incoming attacks and delay them. If soldiers are crossing that bridge, the sound they make would be different than say the Yue Luo people crossing that bridge.

A Le has already been shown to be rebellious and would even risk his life (as shown in that slave parade). He did rather fight and lose his own life than to just obey the Liang state quietly.

What he did with the soldiers and trap is not really meant to show him "protecting", but how potentially reckless and angry he is. He is one of the youths who suffered under the reign of the Liang state (without ever seeing the peace because he is definitely younger than 20 aka the time Yue Luo is no longer flourishing). His character/anger of the Yue Luo people will set up the upcoming arc.

These ship clips the official Douyin account is posting...
Very sweet but omg, I can legit feel the angst coming and I am dreading it. Why can't their world just be simple and not in the midst of a political uprising.

When Jiang Ci loves, she really LOVES. And it is not even just toward her love interest, she is just the type to give it all to those who treat her well. Even if they did her wrong at one point, if they do just one thing right by her, she would always return that someway and somehow. πŸ₯² I need her to be happy for a long time and have the life she wanted.

Even those with biases against her at first, she just takes it up the chin because she is always looking forward instead of backward. She is just such a good character, to have her own beliefs and not betray her own self despite being dragged and lied to in all sorts of situations.
