I am cracking up at the C-comments. A lot of non-fans are watching this, so they do point out some of the illogical things happening for fun and there are a lot of funny comments about Yan Chi weaving the straw sandals, the soup he made, etc.
"The prince's life skills are maxed out, first time seeing a male lead who can weave straw sandals"
"His orchid finger dropped in a second because the prince can't have orchid finger"* *This was during the scene when Yan Chi was pulling the knife away from Qin Wan, his pinky was lifted up at first
"The disappearing pinky finger"
"He knows her shoe size because he touched her feet before"
"Where did the bowl and pot even come from in the wild?" Reply: "Just assume he craved it with that knife" Reply 2: "The director gave him the props"
"The last male protagonist who could weave straw sandals was Liu Bei"* *Real life warlord and a character in " Romance of the Three Kingdoms"
"That's not garlic soup"
"I thought the scene would show him carrying her with romantic BGM but no, he is weaving straw sandals for her"
Oh wow, the rating went up again. Look at how far we came. 🥲 Who remember the days when the episodes got reviewed bombed and it dropped to 8.1 at one point.
I don’t speak Chinese but I hear the “strength” LLD puts in her voice, i don’t know if that makes sense
It does and I am glad! Shes changes the tone and pacing of her voice depending on the character too so the voice she used for Qin Wan is a lot more serious and stronger compared to some of her other characters that is a lot more care-free.
Well written I am not at all bored of these 2 coupling early on...they both still make me excited and gives butterflies
Autumn Concerto is one of my favorite idol modern romance dramas too! It is so tropey but done so well. So many scenes from that drama is still iconic like the "You can't donate blood" scene. That drama was also /filmed/ really well. Drama nowadays film pretty much stationary and the characters are usually just standing while talking (lacks energy and doesn't explain character relationship on a deeper level). But that drama filmed these characters as they were moving around + the camera language really added to the tension. It was also just very well acted too, remains a classic for a reason
li mujia in "all the way to the sun" is my fav as well... i was surprised she accepted the role and played…
Sun Li is great but the actor for the ML is eh. People did not like that ML at all and the actor didn't do that role that well either. 💀 These age gap relationships only really work when both of the actors/actresses do their part. It might have been better if it was another actor and the ML character is less annoying (just not written well at all).
li mujia in "all the way to the sun" is my fav as well... i was surprised she accepted the role and played…
Yes! She ATE in that drama. That role was actually meant for another (older) actress, but that actress had to pull out due to personal issues, so Li Landi came in as an emergency actress. People were even dragging that drama in the beginning when the trailer dropped due to the 20+ age gap between her and Wang Yang, but she made it worked so well that people were shipping them like no tomorrow back then.
It really just goes to show her acting ability, and she was around 22-23 years old when she filmed that drama and was able to act Li Mujia's 20s to her 30s so well. The plot fumbled towards the end (though I get the scriptwriter's intention, it was just not what the viewers wanted) but the cast really their thing with that drama.
I feel like I didn't do it enough so let me praise our mains' acting a bit.
I have started checking in on Li Landi's dramas since 2023 when she utterly impressed me as Yetan in "The Starry Love". Then I was even more impressed with her role as Li Mujia in "All the Way to the Sun" and I knew this girl has a bright future ahead in this business. In addition, she gets even better with every drama she films. She is able to balance idol and non-idol dramas so well and switches her acting style based on the genre effectively.
Qin Wan is not an easy character to play. She is what we considered a "saint" trope and can easily be seen as some character who forgives everyone, too OP, and peachy. Especially because Qin Wan is a female character, this type of character is easy to tear apart if the acting is not strong enough to showcase her strengths. Li Landi's voice control gives a seriousness to Qin Wan that allows the viewers to BELIEVE she /is/ this OP character. I don't know how to explain it to non-Chinese speakers, but LLD is amazing with her dialogue flow and control. She is on par with these voice actors/actresses who dubbed this drama which just show how strong she is in this area. Then there is Qin Wan being more of a "cold" character due to her experience. LLD has been able to convey to viewers her inner feelings via glances, the trembling of her lips, her facial expressions while maintaining the cold persona. So many would play this character as straight up wooden or with one type of expression, but LLD gave her depth.
Ao Rui Peng I knew of because of his role as Lei Wujie in "The Blood of Youth". I thought he was able to add that almost hot-blooded anime type energy into that role really well, so I remembered his name. BUT then I watched "Wrong Carriage, Right Groom" and oh boy, that was not great (especially compared to the original). ARP I knew came into the industry later and had other work experiences in his life, so I don't expect him to be amazing at acting. There were some roles he did his part in (good script, good directing, etc.) and some that were just bad (again due to bad script, bad directing, etc.) and he was too much of a novice to still be able to act his character well when being in such a situation (drama without good director, without good script, etc.). Coming into this drama, I was neutral about him just because I knew his experienced was still pretty limited.
IMO, I think he did this role pretty well here. He was able to convey Yan Chi's youthful general vibe and switched well between the coldness of Yan Chi when dealing with other characters and the sweetness of Yan Chi when he is with Qin Wan. ARP is 29 years old, but he is able to do these young 20 something characters well because his acting does have that type of youthful energy to it (as shown with Lei Wujie). It seems like his characters in the next 3 dramas to air fall into that kind of hot-blooded/general/ML-centric type dramas which suit his current acting ability. Visually, he is handsome and tall too so honestly, he will be able to survive in this business as long as he wants to. Though it will be what happens in his mid-late 30s because idol dramas can only sustain one's career for so long. I did be interested to see what he will do after he reaches that age and if he is able to transition beyond these period idol dramas.
Now for the romantic scenes, both are doing so so so well. They bounce off each other really well and the kisses never just end when they are done kissing. It is the lingering glances after that, the sweet smiles, etc. that really shows the chemistry between the characters and LLD & ARP. A big reason why couples tend to not get together until toward the end of the drama is because scriptwriters know viewers get bored once a couple is confirmed. The chemistry that is sometime the most interesting is when it is in that situationship phase. It can also get "oily" after a couple gets together because their romantic moments become very surface level, it is mostly physical affection and nothing deep about it. LLD and ARP here were able to maintain that deeper level of connection of their characters even after Qin Wan and Yan Chi got together. The way they talk to each other, the way they look at each other, etc. Visually, they look amazing together. And acting wise, they were able to bring in that chemistry really well.
Honestly, this drama definitely has plot holes for a crime genre drama with peaks and lows. I would not put this on the same level as some of the more serious case-solving dramas. This is also an idol drama too so my expectation with the case-solving wasn't super high to begin with because case-solving heavily depends on the scriptwriter. LLD's and ARP's acting and with each other highkey saved this drama and elevated it because I am able to ignore some of the directing/scriptwriter choices/production issues when it comes to some of the cases.
In conclusion, this drama is and will definitely boost their career to another level.
9991 was the highest I saw today so it won't hit 10K today, maybe better luck (and money spend) tomorrow. It gets…
Are you using the international sites or the Chinese site? The international sites don't do anything. 😢 It is only if you are on the Chinese iQiyi website/app.
The Princess title was given due to her achievements as a medic (saving people). If you are talking about a title…
Yupppp, it was pointed out too since they also think women being involved in court would cause "problems" (relationship problems, causing men to "lose focus"), etc.
9991 was the highest I saw today so it won't hit 10K today, maybe better luck (and money spend) tomorrow. It gets harder and harder to reach 10K once it goes over the 9900 mark.
why the emperor gave her princess title and not an official title or is it the same?
The Princess title was given due to her achievements as a medic (saving people). If you are talking about a title regarding her being a coroner, her being a coroner is still more of a secret from the mass, and it did be safer for Qin Wan to do that on the down low while being a medic on the surface (at least right now in the drama).
She stabbed the horse and saved herself. So, this is a pretty big change in the drama with the whole running into…
Tbh, the drama has shown Qin Wan willing to use more "violent" means such as her attempting to stab Qin An with the needles (similar to the novel). Doctors are humans after all, just like how Doctor Sun ended up killing people for their organs in order to revive his wife.
Qin Wan is able to stop herself from going down that type of path with her constantly reminding herself of her father's teaching + Yan Chi stopping her. The horse situation would be understandable since it is to save herself, but I can also see people trying to nitpick her character over it. Qin Wan as a character is actually pretty hard to act, she has to be righteous but also not preachy, has to be able to save herself but also allow herself to be vulnerable with Yan Chi. A lot of readers loved the horse scene in the novel and considered it a highlight scene, but I can also see why the drama didn't film the scene the way it was.
Yue Ning and Yan Li always dress in red like they are about to get married on the spot. 😂 Though Yu Cheng En did explain that Yan Li wore red/colorful colors to cover up his insecurity.
