Title Coroner's Diary Spoiler
Episode 23. Of course that was a trap. Disappointed in the FL. So far she has been so intelligent and nobodies…
She doesn't really have a choice since it is dealing with a whole separate nation. She knows it might be a potential trap and took at least 2 guards with her (the others were not around for her to report this since they were all busy with the hunt). It is just that Princess Yuan Wu was more batshit than she thought for a princess (wanting to kill her even if it might erupt into a whole war).

In addition, Princess Yuan Wu is not this "bad" in the novel. She wasn't outright trying to kill Qin Wan, but just to harass her. In the novel too, Qin Wan stabbed/killed the horse and the princess left her alone after that. The drama I guess needed to add in the romantic moment too and also tone down some of the violence.

In the novel, Qin Wan actually (spoiler) with the horse:
She stabbed the horse and saved herself. So, this is a pretty big change in the drama with the whole running into a cave, cliff situation, her leaving tracks behind for Yan Chi, and Yan Chi finding her. Guess they had to change that since the horse stabbing/killing won't be easy to film.

I'm just curious as Landi is currently trending on weibo about her personality that is similar to dengchao? Does…
Basically she looks graceful/gentle, but she has a pretty funny personality plus she gets into a lot of small unlucky incidences like tripping a lot, ice she is on breaking when she did her interviews on an ice rink, bird pooping on her, roller coaster stopped moving when she rode on it, her fans pranking her into thinking she won some lottery, her dropping the cake she made, etc. 😅 It is basically just people curious about these actors/actresses in a hit/popular drama right now and they start digging into them/their past.

In one of their interviews, Li Landi said that she was very happy to film with Ao Ruipeng.Landy: In other groups…
Just correcting it a bit! She said in other dramas, some people might think she might respond with just "Umm" or "Okay" because she seems quiet but, with this cast, everyone is around the same age, so they warm up quickly (she does tend to act with actors way older than her 🤣).

Yup, it highlights the bigger power imbalance in this period too, women already don't have many rights, so it…
I am not really talking about overall population but more of who gets murdered due to gender related reasons.

Men kill women at a higher rate than woman killing men. Men killing men is a separate thing and not usually due to domestic reasons (more to do with war, money, power, etc.).

These cases we have where the men murdered women has been due to pregnancy/marriage (case 1), SA-related reasons (case 2), and misogyny (case 5).

Ranking my favorite cases so far just based on how the drama portrayed it:

Case 4: Qing's convo with Qin Wan did it for me. That back and forth for me was the core message of this drama. What is justice and how can one maintain justice when corruption is rampant. But there still needs someone to maintain justice in order for true peace to be achieve. Qin Wan repeating her father's words to remind herself that she can't let herself fall into using non-judicial ways is chef's kiss.

Case 2: It helped that we spend more time with these characters, so it hit harder. The unfairness and hopeless of it all too.

Case 1: Perhaps not the case itself, but the wrap up of the case and how Song Rou was treated at the end with that farewell. Shows the true meaning of being a coroner.

Case 3: Beautifully filmed but ending was too abrupt for me, I wanted a couple more minutes for the other characters to see their ending more directly (though I can inference what happened).

Case 5: The case itself is not even the main purpose; it was more of a cover for the political powerplay that goes on beneath it. The political powerplay is very entertaining though.

I remember the last 2 cases having bunch of plot twists especially because it is the main case, so I am interested in how the drama films it. They will be on the top of the list if done well.

damn this show has the most amount of killed females i ever saw in chinese drama
Yup, it highlights the bigger power imbalance in this period too, women already don't have many rights, so it makes them even easier victims.

People on C-social media did praise this drama for limiting the scenes of these victims being hurt. It instead flash onto the perpetrator's faces making ugly expressions a lot more. It shows a few seconds of the crime happening and then focuses a lot more on the perpetrators doing the deed. This drama is directed by a woman, so I think she gets it (long time complaint about crime dramas focusing on the pain of the female victims way too much aka almost making it into entertainment).

Yeah like The Double, SOKP 🤣 There's always the spoiled prince princess and the heartless king and his psycho…
Such old tropes but just so good when done well and acted well. 🤤

He is basically just taking out his issue with his mother on women. It is a very common MO. It is basically incel…
I get you! It just so happens this case is more like the gateway to the actual main 2 cases, so I guess it makes sense they didn't put as much attention on it at the end as this case isn't the main point.

There are so many edits on Xiao Hong Shu with today's scenes of Qin Wan and Yan Chi being in some forbidden relationship such as her being the king's consort while he is her secret lover or that he is the prince in love with his young consort step-mom (Qin Wan). The AUs that are being generated right now are something else. 😂

I miss palace dramas. These little scenes here and there right now really remind me why palace dramas are so good; the psychological warfare, the different fractions, the fake niceties, everyone hiding something, etc.

Tailor case was kinda mehh !Dude didn´t have any solid reason for committing those murders, neither was his reasoning…
He is basically just taking out his issue with his mother on women. It is a very common MO. It is basically incel behavior. He has issues with his identity due to his mom wanting him to be a woman, he hates his mom for that, takes it out on other women especially the ones who will be happier soon with their marriages. It just becomes twisted with his obsession with clothes (his mom made him wear clothes for girls when he was young) and adding on to the SA after their deaths. This case is also more of a bait in the struggle of the two imperial fractions. These princes don't actually care about the victims.

She did pre-training with the fight scenes before the drama started filming! SYJ (actress for Yue Ning) got visible…
Yeah, even in here too, her character is more on the cute side, but it is a believable type of cute, and the scriptwriter added a lot of endearing traits to her character than the original. Plus her and Yan Li are a good pair together.
