Title Coroner's Diary Spoiler
is there someone in this show who is in love with yan chi? except our female lead
In the novel, ladies were too afraid of him to fall for him or approach him. There was a princess from another country (who didn't know his tales) who wanted to marry him but that was prevented.

I really like thsi role. first time really watching her drama. She is really beautiful here. i think she becaming…
Lol yeah, she broke up with that man. When break up happens, the industry ends up knowing since the news get leaked and spread (plus her team made it obvious by deleting those shippers' comments about them two on her Douyin videos and what her friend said). Her change this year was very obvious too, she became a lot happier in general.

It is also better not to think any of these relationships will last until marriage, most of them have flings/date each other at some point, maybe get caught by papz with pictures/videos, don't say anything, then later break up without any official announcement either.

ARP last year had the whole thing with dating someone from his company too (not a celebrity) but probably broke up by now.

Basically there was a bunch of old shippers that were running that fanclub back from her "My Huckleberry Friends" drama. She started gaining more individual fans after "The Starry Love" and they ran into conflict with those shippers as those shippers were adding in ship related things to her events like her birthday meeting with fans. She ended up disbanding the fanclub and still hasn't reestablished it to this day. Maybe she will do it one day but it has been around 2 years at this point so it seems unlikely. I remember another older actor back at their peak disbanded their fanclub too because he didn't want to have hardcore fans so this was a bold move for sure.

Yup, but it also depends on whether she will take it. She is not really going down the traffic route compared to say ARP. She even disbanded her fan club (that literally 95% of actors/actresses have to help with doing data/polls) back in 2023. So a lot of her fans are scattered and just drama fans that doesn't really do data.

But she is definitely someone who can do both idol and non-idol dramas. Her other idol modern romance drama "Filter" with TJC this year was a success too. And if the period drama script she gets offered is good, then I am sure she will take it. I just hope there are good ones because honestly, maybe only 1/10 period idol dramas are good, and I mean good to the point that is acknowledged beyond the fan circle.

Yeah, she was only around 19 years old back then and her company had copyright to that drama script so needed her to film it ASAP since it was about to expire. But she was still in school back then and could only film during her breaks so she was flying back and forth for the filming + school, and she couldn't lose weight no matter how hard she tried since she was so stressed out. Till this day, people pull up pictures from that drama whenever they try to make fun of her.

LLD is of the Hui ethnicity, so she has some features like her eye colors that are a bit atypical compared to Han Chinese people.

One thing this drama did for sure is to get rid of the brainwashing for years that she doesn't fit period dramas. Because of "Dreaming Back to the Qing Dynasty" where she was cyberbullied for years due to her weight + make-up/outfits not fitting her, people had tried to say she shouldn't ever do period dramas again. But then she did well in "The Starry Love" (xianxia) even though the fits are not the best either and now there is this drama which really highlighted her beauty + the hair/clothes were made to fit her too. After this drama, she is likely to get more period drama offers which can attract more fans (though her dramas set to air after this are pretty much all non-idol TV dramas). But it did be nice if she gets a good idol period drama script since that is the easiest way to attract fans.

And yes, ARP and LLD looks great together here. They are gaining a lot of shippers on the C-side too.

They tried. 😭 Just got to suspend our belief that they can't all see her chest.
Haha, I guess we can also excuse it to them being in a rush to do the autopsy so can't actually do a whole make-over and make her look more like a man. 😅

Wow. Feels like she’s been around forever.
Yeah, she is a child actress and has been acting since she was 10 so already 15 years into her career.

Isnt Qin Wan now adopted daughter of Marquise Anyang? And Adopted granddaughter of Grand Princess? Why is she…
Her name is still tied to the Qin family, so she is still associated with them. It just happens that she also has backing from the Grand Princess/Yue family now. She can't cut ties with them as long as the Qin family still exists and she uses the name Qin Wan.

Couldn't agree more. Helpless became hopeless too in this corrupted world.
Yeah, it is obvious this corruption is rooted in how the current system is ran too. 😢😢😢 Qing makes a good point that the case from 15 years was able to be covered up only because the higher ups wanted it to be covered. Shen Yi seemed to be the only one interested in noting the discrepancy back then. 😔

"By law I'm the culprit, by human conscience I'm innocent"Imo, the recent cases of Qin family revenge…
Yeah, and in addition, the other two lost hope with all the corruption running rampant with the officials. Qin Wan on the other hand is trying to uphold her father's beliefs about going through trials (to honor him). If she doesn't have that belief/teaching, it did be easy for her to use these methods too.
On Coroner's Diary Jul 20, 2025
Loved that they addressed that sometimes, these types of revenge are the only ones that can be done due to lack of power and money. Qin Wan has encountered so many corrupted officials but she tried so hard to abide by her father's teaching because without just laws and good officials to implement them, there will never be true peace. 😢 Episode 19 is a sad episode, it makes you recognize the powerless of those who were abused first and not being able to fight back in a judicial way due to systemic corruption.

Says a lot that the women perpetrators we had so far all killed for revenge (aka they were wronged first) while the male perpetrators killed for their own selfish reasons.

Part of the 4th case. 😢

To my fellow novel readers out there, how does the series compare? I am seriously thinking about reading the novel…
The drama follows most of it pretty well, but some things have been changed such as Qin Wan's origin which then cause some other things to be changed due to that. The novel also goes more in depth, so it is a good supplemental read. But the novel is also really wordy, and I know people have dropped the novel because it was too long, so it really depends on you. I will say that the novel does give more context on certain things in the drama that viewers might not get on their first watch.
