Qin Xiang is a very self-centered character, but I think it makes a lot of sense with the way she was raised. She was raised by someone like Madam Qin after all. She knows her future is to marry someone (as that's the case with pretty much all the noble girls), so she wants it to be someone rich/powerful. Her negative comments about her niece being a girl shows the belief of that time period and she herself buys into it. She doesn't really see anything for herself beyond marrying a rich man and not worry about life, it was just how she was raised.
Heading to the capital, she knows marriage will be something the 1st branch will arrange for all the girls. Her trying to get with fake!Bai and now with that Pang merchant is her trying to have a choice. She thought fake!Bai at least had feelings for her and was willing to risk it since Bai did come from a good family. If she had the choice to be with someone rich and also love her or just someone rich, of course she did pick the person who is rich + love her. It just so happens that it didn't work out, so she is back to just trying to marry someone rich.
This is not really in defense of her character, but just an analysis. People are complicated after all; people can be an asshole most of the time but then show kindness one time. Does that mean they aren't an asshole anymore? Probably not, but it does show they have the capability to be kind. I am interested in how the drama will handle her character because in the novel...
It's definitely getting popular since the haters on Chinese social media sites are increasing too. I'm just glad…
π― They are trying to find anything to nitpick on for sure. The fan circles especially have been bad since this drama is reaching heights that they don't expect with no traffic cast. It really goes to show traffic actors/actresses can only "carry" a drama so far with their fans. If the drama is meh, no new viewers will tune in.
This is not a drama without plot holes or editing problems (especially with the novel the way it was), but this is still an idol drama at the end of the day that is already considered pretty solid for this type of genre (and better than a lot of the ones released this year). The cast can act, the leads have chemistry, the plot moves onward, supporting characters get their moments, etc.
Guys is Yan Li and Yue Ning also cousin? I mean, Im still confuse about their family tree π
They are more like distant cousins to each other but still part of the imperial family. The Yans are more direct cousins to each other since their fathers are brothers. The Yue family is really only connected via the Grand Princess.
Yup, but still, at least in that moment, Qin Xiang was just a regular girl trying to be saved and was willing to help. In the future though... we will see if they change more things about her from the novel.
Everyone already mentioned the confession scene already, so I have nothing else to add on except it was really well done. They are adorable together and they are trying to hide it but come on now, everyone can see it. π€
This drama really does the girls help girls trope well. I really adore Qin Wan's and Yue Ning's relationship. And even if they don't get along with Qin Xiang, they still helped her, and Qin Xiang also rushed to try to get Qin Wan out when she was stuck. Goes to show when lives are in danger, people can put their differences aside.
Coughing here and there and Li Landi asked him if he took his afternoon medication. π’ He also looked really tired towards the end so hopefully he gets to rest sometime soon.
The chasing troupe and livestream today was wow, the shippers are super happy. π And the cast looked beautiful. Poor ARP though, he was sick but not surprising since his filming schedule seems tough these days.
The romance between cai he and qin Chen was honestly so good (their storyline could have been an entire different…
Yes, it was pointed out too that it won't have ended up like this if say prefect Huo actually did his job and tracked down the missing girls. Or that the trafficking ring gets exposed earlier if someone did their job.
Caihe unfortunately did not have the connections nor resources to get revenge in the judicial way for execution (or she never saw that as an option) with all the corruption.
While for Qin Wan, she is trying to clear her father's reputation too and she grew up under his influence so for her, she wants to go through the judicial way. In addition, Qin Wan took a different approach by networking with the powerful people from Grand Princess to Yan Chi so this approach is an actual possibility for her. Qin Wan also has something to live for (her medical/forensic skills) while for Caihe, she didn't have anything else to live for.
It is why C-side said it was a pity for Caihe too. If she met people like Qin Wan or Yan Chi way earlier, she might had been able to get her justice without needing to destroy herself while at it.
I find it a bit too easy to guess who the killer is in each case but otherwise Iβm having a good time.
I think they did that on purpose because it has a novel, so the spoilers are pretty much out there. It seems like they are focusing on the process of finding evidence against the perpetrator and exploring the person's/people's motives instead. Especially since most of these are crimes of close relations so it isn't hard to guess when there is only a couple of related people that shows up in each case.
