I quite enjoy how Qin Zhaoyu is being depicted in the drama. She is a smart girl, might be in love to a certain extent but she also understands her role and values Qin family before anything else. Her relationship with Qin Wan is so interesting because they are technically "opponents", but they have respect for each other.

I giggled when Prince Cheng said no one is worthy of him. 😭😭😭 Because characters like that would usually just say X or Y will be useful so it is not about love, but he straight up said no, I am too good for these women. 😭 Okay, sir.

The repo for this drama before it aired is that some parts of this drama is very 狗血 and I see it, but people are loving it. 😭 It helps that these scenes are then followed by some more atypical scenes like Yan Chi using Qin Wan's method she used on the child to save her from drowning so it is not to the point where people can drag it for being 100% tropey.

She did pre-training with the fight scenes before the drama started filming! SYJ (actress for Yue Ning) got visible muscles (especially her biceps) too so definitely believable!

I have no idea where that came from either. I know Taobao sponsorship was also LLD's since they announced it and even got around 6K cloud booking for her. Maybe some of these ads are really quick or at the end of the episode?

Yeah, I saw a lot of non-fans ended up buying their own subscription for this drama. Which is also why these other fans are so mad because they felt like this drama/the fans didn't spend as much money as them (out of pocket) so didn't deserve all this.

Yue Ning is not a big character at all in the novel, and they added a lot of scenes for her already and even adding on a love line in the drama. This novel at the end of the day is big FL-centric aka the female lead. Everyone else, even the ML, was more of a supporting role.

They already changed the drama to be more assemble cast by taking away some scenes from the FL (removed several of her highlight scenes by having others save her such as Yue Ning) and upping scenes for the other characters.

At the end of the day, the entire cast is all being uplifted and noticed for their visuals/acting. The amount of characters in this drama and episodes already sacrificed some story telling such as with case 3 in order to add in additional scenes with Yue Ning (because again, she doesn't exist in these cases in the novel).

Yue Ning is already a well-written role in the drama because again, her role is minimal in the novel, and she already took away the storyline of another character. At the end of the day, the misunderstanding is that she is the "main", which she is not. But as a 2nd lead, she already has way more added scenes than that existed in the original novel and they expanded her personality/family/conflict/adding in a love line.

No idea, and then there is that other market variety show they did. Producer also promised Hi6, but he couldn't get a slot. Compared to some of the "big" dramas that hit 10K, this drama production really didn't do much for promo or their promo stuff are so late. 💀 This drama is technically ending next week too once they drop the last several episodes at one go. Now it is making me think they didn't really prepare for this drama to get 10K but at the same time, they did give it a summer slot. Just so many contradictions. Probably a money thing, imagine not barely putting any effort/money in promo and this drama still hit 10K.

He would if the drama laid it out for him since the beginning as some type of political end goal. Yan Chi himself stated he is not interested + honestly, the novel/drama made the other princes "less worthy" to become an emperor (one is a coward, one is straight up evil, etc.). When you have the author dumbing/limiting everyone else down below the main, then yeah, the main is really the only option. 💀 The novel ended with them being good emperor and empress but that ending was controversial for some readers because they were not reading the novel for that type of ending. To have this drama land safely, it is probably the best to remove that ending as the remaining episodes are really not enough to justify their rise to the throne and make it make sense. It would need to be another 20+ episodes where we actually see more palace fights/conflicts and the princes being on even ground/fighting each other.

I didn't say her acting is subpar, she is decent/good, but you can't compare her to Zhao Jinmai (even though I find ZJM to be weak in romantic dramas) or Wen Qi.

Wen Qi especially is a prodigy and the 2000-2005 gen is especially packed with really good actresses. She might be good, but she doesn't stand out among them at this moment in time. It has nothing to do with specific projects either because some of these girls have been noticed since their supporting/guest roles in dramas/films for being REALLY good. In the 2000-2005 gen, being good is not enough anymore because they have too many beyond talented actresses.

I know iQiyi is making banks off of this drama too since they barely paid for promo and the traffic is /still/ limited on platforms like Douyin since they didn't pay their protection fees. They better give the best scripts to LLD and ARP for making this happen for them since iQiyi has been on a downward spiral for awhile now.

I am very happy for this cast. I caught up on all their livestreams/events so far and they are all very funny together and definitely putting their hearts into it. So it is nice to see them getting good payback.

It is not likely to happen because this drama will absolutely be dragged if that happens. This type of ending can work in an actual serious political type of drama but not in this idol type drama where the politics are half-baked. Both leads at this point have not shown enough to be able to be emperor/empress in terms of the narrative because their journey has been about solving cases, not becoming the emperor/empress.

This novel is an old one too so that used to be the ultimate ending for leads to achieve, be emperor/empress but times have changed, and C-viewers do not like these types of tropes anymore. They relate more and more to small time characters (not from noble backgrounds, etc.) and part of it has to do with the rising upper class, social issues with the rich not paying taxes, etc. It is likely another prince will take over instead. Plus the title is about being a coroner. An ending where Qin Wan stops being one in order to be an empress would be torn apart.

Yeah, we shouldn't be tearing each other down when we already have so many obstacles living in our world. Women can only flourish if we uplift each other. 😢

I know but it is just hilarious. It follows the novel, and it is such an old trope but still funny to see it happening on screen in 2025. 🤣🤣🤣

I can't believe they might really be able to do it in one weekend wow. I was thinking the 10K can really only happen towards the end but looking at the Yunhe data and other data, people are tuning in en mass for real. It has been a while since I have seen this happening with an iQiyi drama because their xianxia ones with the big names pretty much flopped this year BAD.

Right??? We would be making banks. I know some people did since they actually did bet on this drama hitting 10K.

I mean she has highlight scenes in this drama and her appearance was effective. There have been way too many second leads that added on too many scenes due to their investors that they ruin the narrative of the story and end up getting dragged for nepotism and being the princes/princesses of the platforms. SYJ is getting attention via this role, and she is building an audience, so it is good for her.

SYJ is currently not at the level where she can lead an S tiered drama. Investment is one thing but there are way too many actresses better at acting than her in the 2000-2005 gen. Her acting is not up to par with some of the best we have like Wen Qi and Zhao Jinmai. Either she becomes so popular that these platforms will use her as main even if she isn't the best at acting or she becomes so good at acting that they have no choice but to use her. She is currently not there in either of those options.

Shen Yujie is second lead along with Yu Cheng En. They are not the mains, but MDL doesn't have second lead classifications.

First billing for this drama is Li Landi. Second billing is Ao Rui Peng. And then it is the rest of the actors/actresses as supporting/guests. She actually has way more scenes in the drama than in the novel already. They gave her character arcs from another character. The character Yue Ning in the novel is a guest role, not even second lead because the novel doesn't have second leads at all.

Princess Yuan Wu really came in swinging. 😂

Love seeing all these characters in the palace having their own agenda, the way they protect certain people, the way they attack certain people. Very interesting to see it all play out.
