Haha you are not the only one! People thought maybe Bai Feng and "Wanxing" had a side thing. There were even people that can't separate the faces and thought "Wanxing" was Fu Ling so thought their interactions were normal. 😂

Regarding the heat index: 9K+ is amazing for this drama/cast and it is very hard to get 10K for iQiyi. After 9K, it becomes harder to climb on that platform (people basically needs to constantly comment/stream episode/spend money/new viewers need to heavily tune in on the official platform).

So don't feel bad if this drama doesn't reach that number. This drama has already exceeded people's expectation stat-wise just because the cast isn't traffic (though ARP is heading down that type of "pending traffic" route). This drama actually got quite a bit of black marketing on the first day too and especially from fan circles of the recent iQiyi dramas that aired before it.

The official accounts for this drama is also kind of out of fashion when it comes to promo. The clips they released (except for the "love at first sight" clip) are not what Gen-Z like these days on Douyin. 🤣 They are also not doing any 推流 aka a paid method that these social media platforms do to push out certain videos more on people's FYP to gain likes/views.

It did be an amazing feat if it did but again, don't feel bad if it doesn't. People /are/ appreciating this drama for sure especially with the characters being normal, having brains, and able to communicate.

Also as expected of Li Hui Zhu (the director), this is such a Hong Kong TVB-style drama, The pacing, the character intros, and the camera angles. Can't believe her last drama was "A Beautiful Lie" because that was a disaster. 💀 But then again, she excels way more with period dramas than modern dramas.

There were a bunch of 1-star raters for the episodes individually. It was 8.4 at first, then 8.3, then 8.0, and now 8.1 so it actually went back up a bit.

Basically, it was Prefect Huo's job to have that autopsy done regardless of having some approval letter. But with the letter/no letter, Prefect Huo can shift the blame on someone else for not having done the autopsy. Qin Wan was not happy to hear that and then Yan Chi said he dealt with the letter issue for Prefect Huo aka to let him off the hook (which makes it seem like he agreed with Prefect Huo). But Yan Chi did that for the plan of the emperor thinking Song of Duke was trying to obstruct the investigation which will then lead to the emperor making sure the case gets investigated. It was a hidden political move which is why Qin Wan apologized because Yan Chi wasn't trying to let Prefect Huo shrink from his duty.

Yup! Some of the cases will only be around 2 episodes according to the schedule. These first 2 episodes just happens to take up 10 episodes since it was also character intro/Qin family set up/related cases.

Haha yup! Case 1 scenes actually left a lot of breadcrumbs for case 2. It did well in that area.

If you rewatch some of the previous scenes with her and Bai Feng in the background, you will see them being close. For example, she patted the dirt off of Bai Feng's back and she rolled her eyes at Bai Feng. People was like is this a new ship?? What about Fu Ling. 🤣

Yup, that was why I said he is delulu because Caihe is out to get him too. I get why she wants to get rid of the wife and baby but at the end of the day, Xinlan wasn't involved in this. She just married a man and has a baby. She doesn't know anything. She shouldn't be killed for that. In addition, Lianye also didn't deserve to die. When one's revenge ends up killing innocent people, then it has already gone too far. I get Caihe though, but it is also why she needs to be stopped before she goes down the wrong path further.

Haha, the girls (for now) from the third generation weren't involved so I will say they should be spared!

Very ironic that it was Qin An, Madam Qin, and Qin Chen talking smack about Prince Jin and Shen Yi in episode 1 because whoa, they need to look in the mirror (what a good reveal).

Also looking back on case 1 aka headless bride (though I know this already), it was nice seeing how they already set up for case 2 aka body in the well from the very beginning.

From the stranger that has been looking into Qin Wan's residence at night, "Wanxing" being her new maid, "Wanxing" and Bai Feng looking close in the background of certain scenes, Caihe being excited about Qin Wan's existence, Qin Chen's glances at Caihe, etc. All of that was leading up to case 2.

Song Rou was so intense about her feelings that she would probably have offed herself for Wei Yanzhi to not be discovered. So Wei Qizhi just went along with it. He also did say he and Duke of Song was having conflicts at the time and wanted to make him mad so that was an additional reason.

It is a weird translation. He is the "heir to Prince Rui" (his dad is emperor's brother) but he is not the crown prince. The crown prince will show up later.

Part of it was definitely his fault. He neglected so many things such as the missing girls that it ended up leading to today. If he did his job, the criminals involved would have been arrested/executed already without the revenge needing to happen. 😔
