Yeah and still increasing. They had 6 million viewers during the livestream earlier.
Wow, and I know a bunch of fans weren't even watching since they were still watching the drama. What a good start! I really hope the drama can keep to the pace and plot.
I will say I was nervous about this drama because ngl, a lot of the FL-centric period idol drama these days straight up use the FL just as a tool for the romance. We barely get their motives, their goals, their dreams, their values, etc. Even the "big female leads" barely do anything career-wise before the romance just destroy their narratives and they ended up being used to prop up the ML and making it seem like being loved by the ML is the biggest achievement in their lives.
Qin Wan though; the audience absolutely gets to see her as an individual with her own set values. We see her family relationships, her friendships, her goals, her intelligence, her compassion before the romance truly sets in. Then we have Fu Ling who is not just some random sidekick but actually able to provide information only she knows and has important scenes. This is why we will aways need more female scriptwriters who actually like their female characters and see them as people before the romance. Give us the friendships, give us the kindness shared by women, give us the care/guidance a female elder has for a younger woman. ๐
Yeah I am glad such dramas dont make ML and FL on each other's neck to start with. They have a cool understanding
Yup! Both are technically trying to sus and use each other but they are also so respectful of each other and see each other highly in a professional level already. I am really enjoying the relationship development.
Aw, I am checking the reviews on C-side and people are loving both Qin Wan and Yan Chi. Li Landi's visuals are being praised so much but also Qin Wan is just such an intelligent and compassionate character. Then you have Yan Chi who is probably of the rarer proper and disciplined ML these days who actually communicates and is respectful.
Whatโs the relationship between the Seong and the Wei? I had the impression they were brother sister yet it…
They are two different families. Song is a Duke family while the Wei family ranks below them. Miss Song and the Wei brothers grew up together, so they did be considered childhood friends. Wei Yanzhi later starts working for the Duke, and was tasked by him to escort Miss Song to her wedding.
I love that scene in episode 5 so much too! Especially with what she did with the head, I was thinking she did…
Absolutely, and him saying how she was toxic and crazy for wanting to elope with him. HELLO, she loved you and thought it would be something you wanted too!
Not even just the neck! But straight up her occipital lobe. Man could have just opened his mouth and said you…
Exactly! She probably developed feelings for him as they spend time playing the zither together. If she was the one who confessed to him first, he absolutely could have turned it down.
But he probably enjoyed the validation of this precious high-ranked lady picking him over say his legitimate brother (even though they are just platonic sister/brother relationship). He is a coward at the end of the day.

And then burning those skull pieces to try to get rid of the evidence. Hello??? That was your lover? The mother of your unborn child at one point?? ๐ But it matches with real life uxoricides so much. So many men will kill their wives instead of just filing for a divorce.
Girl... THE AUDACITY. ๐คLike, what kind of sick twisted mind do you need to literally kill the woman who gave…
Not even just the neck! But straight up her occipital lobe. Man could have just opened his mouth and said you know what, I don't love you anymore, please just go get married and pretend this never happened. ๐ He also didn't need to start this relationship either to begin with, he acted like she forced him into it.
I love that scene in episode 5 so much too! Especially with what she did with the head, I was thinking she did…
For sure, the way how Ms. Song was murdered was disgusting. Not to mention what the murderer did to her body even after her death from the fire to the skull. Literally killed her for a second time.
This is just Shen Wan's "make-up" (half-truth/half lie) backstory. The novel changed her origin story a bit since…
Yup! I know the drama just threw us into it and we have to rely on the dialogues to piece things together, but it should be clearer as the drama continues. They are keeping things vague on purpose since it has to do with Prince Jin/the palace and these cases are working towards that.
Yue Ning saying women should just stay single. ๐ And she is not even wrong! The statistics of women being killed by their lovers are so high and so often just due to the men's egos with not communicating or figuring out some other reasonable methods to end things. ๐
I love that scene in episode 5 so much too! Especially with what she did with the head, I was thinking she did…
Yes, and it was a good send off for the living (that loved/cared for her) that is seeing her body for the last time. They are seeing it as she should be and not just some burned unrecognizable body. ๐ฅฒ

Shen Wan might have been in the medical valley for years (but she has been in the capital before) and didn't really leave much but her dad, Shen Yi, works as an official coroner/court minister so he didn't just stay in the medical valley. He did for example go to the imperial court to do autopsies.
This Prince Jin case is very recent, and it has to do with what Shen Yi discovered while he was in the palace working. This is why Shen Wan (now Qin Wan) wants to go to the capital/into the palace to try to figure out what happened.
From the first episode, The Coronerโs Diary has felt like so much more than a suspense drama. Yes, the plot…
I love that scene in episode 5 so much too! Especially with what she did with the head, I was thinking she did just place it back as a skull, but she did so much more. ๐ฅบ
Btw the subs don't fully translate their titles/positions in their families but Qin Wan is the "9th sister" and Yan Chi is the "7th prince". So yes, Qin Wan got at least 8 relatives/cousins from the same generation and Yan Chi got at least 6 other relatives/cousins from the same generation. ๐

Me: Yes ma'am
I can totally see why Yan Chi is so down bad already. ๐คญ
