I think they don't want to leave any empty days after ADWAD since they released the final episodes already for SVIPs. 😂 And it is likely they want to air another period drama right after CD to at least fit in another one for the summer schedule. iQiyi these days has basically air dramas non-stop without pausing. 😅

But I think they (at least the scriptwriter) know better not to do OE/BE for this drama because there is really no "logical" way to make it happen. It is not xianxia/fantasy so they can't pull a fast one on us. The type of relationship they have shouldn't cause any misunderstandings that can lead to someone's death either.
The center of this drama at the end of the day is about solving cases so having to create an OE/BE would take too much work/build up when they won't have enough time with the episodes they have when they need to focus on the cases. So here is hoping they just stick with the good aspects of the novel and don't add anything not needed. 🙏
