Likely due to "In the Name of Justice" doing well so every other platform is trying to drop their crime/law drama right now instead (so any idol period dramas from other platforms will probably be shifted to August).
The other idol period dramas all have some internal problems such as the cast being in recent scandals. Idol period dramas have also not done well in viewership and rating wise this year (compared to years ago when these dramas can get 80-100+ million views per episode).
Though there are idol period dramas that achieved 10K/30K heat index max for their platforms this year, it is all very within fan circle achievement and fan bragging rights. The industry itself and non-fans are not exactly praising these dramas for being standout dramas nor achieving some cultural milestones.
Idol period dramas will still be made but they take so much more $$$ compared to modern genre dramas and the net profit is sometimes even less than these modern genre dramas after factoring in the cost of needing to hire big promo companies to promote these idol period dramas. Plus the plots and character dynamics in these dramas have become so generic to the point that the audience is fatigued by these dramas and have tuned to short-formed dramas instead where FLs for example are given more active roles.

Yup! "Filter" is a great drama, and it has been praised a lot by the C-industry itself. She was even invited as guest speaker at the 3rd Beijing Internet Audiovisual Arts Conference just some days ago to give a speech about that drama and her character, Su Cheng Cheng.
"All the Way to the Sun" is about the growth of two women from their early 20s (right after college) into their 30s. Her character, Li Mujia, experienced career highs and lows, dating/break-ups, friendship trials, etc. There were people who were upset at certain decisions made in the drama BUT I get it and understood what the scriptwriters were going for. But I also get why the audience wanted the drama to go a different way instead. Overall though, that drama was good IMO and the cast all acted well.

Because it is never the man who gave up things in these types of novels, it is always the woman giving up her career. In addition, in the novel, it was explicitly stated that the FL didn't like being in the palace due to several reasons including the mastermind behind the massacre of her family. This was an old novel too so this kind of "become emperor/empress" trend was popular then since that was seen as the "final" goal/highest status one can achieve in these type of period romance novels.
However, this kind of "ending" is not seen as logical anymore with today's audience especially when it comes to palace infighting and the positions of these type of characters (aka it didn't make sense for certain things to happen based on history and how imperial families were run in China). An ending like that would absolutely be dragged by C-netizens.

In the novel, the ML doesn't show up until close to halfway through the novel, but the drama will probably change that and move up when he is introduced so I can't say for sure when their romance will happen in the drama.

-They start off as push-pull/testing each other (whether they can trust each other, is the other person someone they can use, etc.) -Once they confirm they both have feelings for each other, it is pretty much a smooth sailing relationship in the sense they support each other a lot -They hide their relationship from others since they "work" together at first so there are a lot of moments where they sneak off and have romantic moments (then back to case solving) -ML likes to kiss the FL A LOT (outdoors, indoors, on a boat, wherever) -Poor babies got married later on but there were ongoing palace conflicts, so you got FL getting locked up, ML being send off to fight, etc. -In the novel ending, the ML becomes the emperor (due to reasons), and FL ended up as the empress, but I am pretty sure they are changing this in the drama because this ending was criticized by some readers -In the novel, it was stated that the FL felt suffocated in the palace so her becoming an empress was due to her relationship with the ML (ended up becoming the emperor) and readers felt it was a waste for her to be stuck in the palace and not continue on to help others in the world as a coroner (plus they felt the FL ended up sacrificing her own life/career for ML which they don't like) -All and all, they have a really good relationship, ML isn't some abusive ML who physically hurt FL in the beginning for whatever reasons (which has become more of a trend these days in period idol dramas)

Haha, I get you but if it makes you feel better, the romance doesn't take away from the case breaking (at least in the novel). The FL especially is a workaholic and the conflicts that goes on in the novel doesn't stem from any petty misunderstanding or drama in their relationship (the conflicts are external and come from their circumstances/cases they deal with).

There will probably be romance between the 2nd FL and 2nd ML too (both of these characters have increased scenes in the drama and 2nd FL character seems to have absorbed another character's plotline from the novel so that character's scenes will be given to her).
