Really hope the scriptwriter does these cases justice. 🙏 I am not worried about the acting but these case breaking drama relies heavily on the script, so it really needs to be good (the evidence can't be simple, it should have twists, the characters can't lose their brains once they start dating, etc.) for people to tune in.

Yeah, seems like 6/29 will be a magazine. Guess iQiyi is really expecting something from this drama. 💀

One of the producers confirmed that the cast will have a promo doing some Chinese style horror escape room type game (not sure if it is via a variety show or just them doing that/recording that on their own).

New rumor also dropped that the cast will have a drama chasing troupe (they promote together, meet fans, have interviews together, etc.) on 7/18.

The drama is covering all 8 cases from the novel so it will probably be around several episodes per case. It is doable if there are no fillers and the drama gets straight to it. The novel is long but like other users have mentioned, the author is just kind of wordy. 😅

I didn't see any melons about it being aired on CCTV at the same time right now, so I don't think so.

Yeah, for modern idol romance genre, this was the best this year IMO. There are some other modern dramas I liked this year, but they weren't idol romance.

Definitely still one of the best dramas this year and we are already in mid-June. C-dramaland has been DRY this year, hopefully the incoming summer dramas will be better with the plot.

Yeah, TJC mentioned how he and LLD sometimes randomly see each other on the streets and how they said it would be nice to work together someday directly. Then it happened!

Both are iQiyi dramas so it would be one after another! I did read some internal debate going on between whether The Wanted Detective or Coroner's Diary would air first after ADWAD but it seems like Coroner's Diary has a higher chance right now.

Rumor airing line up for the iQiyi dramas right now is:
Feud ➡️ A Dream within a Dream ➡️ Coroner's Diary (still around July 2025)

Great drama, the final case was especially well-done.

It will depend on how much iQiyi values this drama. I am pretty sure iQiyi has investment in ARP at this point so they will probably put at least /some/ effort into the promo. The rumor date for this drama is around mid-July so any early promo will probably start around July. But at the same time, it might be better if iQiyi is /not/ too invested in this either since a lot of their recent dramas that they had a heavier hand in got ruined some way or another by them.

Yeah, Filter is also ranked #1 of the mainland dramas on Douban during the May (Labor) break recently aka a lot of people tuned in then to watch it for the first time.

Yup, K-dramas on Douban for example have super high ratings due to small number of raters but it is also because K-dramas are just view more positively in general (plus no fandom fighting).

Douban score opens sometimes depending on when the drama production wants the score to be opened. I know dramas that doesn't have open score sometimes because the score is super low and the drama production/actor's team pay to have the score not open, so you have a bunch of these dramas with no ratings. And sometimes it is just not enough people who rated it to open the score.

Score can also be asked to open later if say there is a traffic star in the cast and the production knows opening the score earlier (if it is high) will motivate haters to lower the score.

7.3 on Douban which is amazing for an idol modern drama (not to mention TJC is a traffic, so he had people rating his dramas low on purpose, but it maintained 7+).

For comparison, the other idol modern romance dramas that aired around that same time were all pretty much 5-6 (which is below score or just passing). This drama also didn't have much promo when it aired compared to the other dramas (pretty sure it spent all its money on the special effects/post-production), so it is pretty much considered a dark horse drama in China + being an original IP.

And it had over 180K people rating it which is a quite a lot for this type of drama.

Another update: Douban reached 180K ratings for Filter back on May 2nd. And yes, the rater number is still going up. 🤭
