Case 1 is actually the simpler one of all the 8 cases. Case 2 is actually the one that will start getting complicated, so we are in for a ride. 🤭

This is just Shen Wan's "make-up" (half-truth/half lie) backstory. The novel changed her origin story a bit since in the novel, Shen Wan herself got killed and her soul ended up in dead!Qin Wan's body and they had no relationship with each other.

In the drama, the truth what we currently know is that:

1) Shen Wan's parents, especially her dad, Shen Yi, were very good friends with Qin Liang.

2) Qin Liang had a daughter, Qin Wan, who was sickly, and they were in the medical valley in order to her treated (probably where he and Shen Yi met or they were old friends).

3) Shen Wan and Qin Wan were good friends along with Fu Ling (QW's maid) and Qin Wan died a year ago from her sickness.

4) Qin Liang is not close to the Qin family and was grieving so never reported her death to the Qin family.

5) Happening now: Shen family tried to escape with the help of Qin Liang and all of them got killed except for Shen Wan. Qin Liang before the escape ordered Fu Ling to take care of Shen Wan in case anything happens.

6) Shen Wan combined truth and lies to make up that as Qin Wan, she was getting better and she and her dad, Qin Liang, was on a ship and her dad saved her during the shipwreck. And that she is returning to the Qin family as she has nowhere else to go.

Her current full backstory is not revealed yet so we will know more as the drama goes on. There should be flashback scenes to her childhood later on because there is a young actress playing young!Qin Wan/Shen Wan + another younger actor playing her dad Shen Yi (not the older actor from episode 1).

The current emperor and his father are brothers. The grandmother aka the grand princess is the aunt of the emperor + his father. That would make the grand princess Yan Chi's great aunt.

That scene of Qin Wan repairing her body though. 🥲 A good send off.

I feel so bad for Ms. Song in the first case.

No wonder they said Li Landi has ton of complicated dialogues. 🤣 Qin Wan is working overtime. 🤣

If the novel is wordy aka slow paced, the drama version is a jet boat. 🤣 But it actually works and no fillers at all aka all the convos/scenes are leading somewhere.

Oh, I am enjoying all the characters so far in the drama adaptation, it is kind of incredible they are able to establish these characters (i.e. personalities, motives, etc.) so well in just 2 episodes (where I am at right now).

They really dropped like 20 characters all at once. 🤣 🤣 🤣 But I was definitely glued to the episode, couldn't even pause it because every second was really used up for the storytelling.

Just finished episode 1 and wow, the pacing is QUICK. They really threw you into it. 😳 Li Landi's acting is amazing as always. We didn't get flashback scenes yet of Shen Wan's childhood/relationships with her family, Uncle Qin, original Qin Wan, etc. but her reactions are enough to let you know what they meant to her.

Yue Ning & Yan Li (second leads)
Fu Ling & Bai Feng (supporting)

Same, I don't expect it to "blow up" just because barely any of these dramas truly "blow up" anymore but I hope it got enough of an audience that the platform is happy with and the cast gains fans/future viewers for their later dramas.

If you are talking about edits from fans, there are a lot on XiaoHongShu right now. If you just type in 朝雪录 or any of the actresses'/actors' names, they will show up.

This drama got so many eyes on it right now and you have so many people betting it to flop (part of fan circle conflicts and summer competitions) so I hope it can prove people wrong. The ship is already sailing even before this drama aired just with those MV/preview clips, so the cases just really need to be written and filmed well.

Watching the preview clips and ALL the women are GORGEOUS (the makeup, the hair, the clothes, etc.). Visual feast. 😭 Hopefully these female characters are written well in the drama too, be it they are the mains, supporting, villains, etc.

I think it should be okay as long as you can handle autopsy scenes! There can't be too much gore anyway due to censorship.
