Part of it is competition since they want to make sure their favs' drama is seen as better. If they get better results (regardless of their skills), there is more chance they did get gigs over peers in the same generation. There is only one cake, and everyone want their fav to get the biggest and best slice.

Fans sometimes treat this like an investment, they invest in a certain actors/actresses and want them to blow up and do better than everyone else for bragging powers. That's why we call this the liuliang/traffic game and sometimes, these actresses/actors aiming for this path contribute to it (encourage their fans to spend money, do data, rate their dramas, vote, etc.).

Douban is considered more reliable than many other sites because it is not too skewed positively by fans because fans would just be rating their favs' dramas 5 stars regardless. Usually, other people's fans downvoting won't affect much because one's fans and antis are usually proportional according to one's fame. So, one might have a ton of haters, but they usually also have a ton of fans that can cancel out negative ratings.

Then the remaining rating would be by actual non-fan viewers who then gives a more accurate rating though there are cases here and there where the review bombing by antis/water armys couldn't be cancel out by fans (or the fans didn't bother to cancel them out) or a drama wasn't watched enough by the general audience so the rating probably isn't as fair as it could have been.

Douban used to be more reliable but as more fans got accounts on there, it has definitely impacted how some dramas have been rated. But it is still something people in the industry check for.

Su Miao's body is SCC's own body. Basically, in the eyes of others, the shape/appearance looks different, but it is still SCC herself so when SM gets injured, it is SCC's own leg that was broken. Remember in that first transformation scene, SCC covered up her facial injury but when LY touched it, it still hurt because it only "covered it up" but the injury still existed. In addition, they tested her weight, and it was still SCC's own weight. LY explained that was part of the light refractions but in the first round, the only thing she can transform into was SM.

In the second update, it expanded onto other objects/animals, but they were still part of the light refractions' tech (3D printing) meaning when touched, you would be able to figure out she was human. It is like printing on a piece of paper, you can print anything so it can look like anything, but when touched, it is still paper.

In the third update which is at the end of episode 14, it is now 2D to 3D creation which is no longer just printing as explained by LY. How far that goes we shall see but it would be a step up from simply printing like before.

Filter 2.0 3D printing included those animals/objects because technically they are light refractions (that's why LY didn't want SCC to be touched as the statue and why SCC avoided being touched as an alpaca during those scenes because if touched, TQ did know she was human). 👀

Filter 3.0 2D to 3D creation seems to be actual /creation/ meaning if touched, it did feel like the actual thing.

Just unfortunate since I know ppl in the industry still uses Douban as a standard, so it sucks when the rating doesn't actually reflect the quality of the drama. 😮‍💨 I can only hope more ppl tune in and willing to rate on Douban since non-fans in general don't go out of their way to rate on Douban.

Good thing is that I am seeing a lot more non-fans tuning in. I think ppl are also waiting for the SCC/TQ ship to fully sail before tuning in since this is an idol romance drama after all so when the ship sails, I think more people will check in too.

Yes! She probably couldn't believe he fell for /her/. And apparently some people who read the script said he was a bit of a green tea later on, so he probably got his own plans on how to deal with the SCC situation.

I gotta say, the cast in this must be really happy that they have this drama as part of their filmography. This drama is legit good work, and they really should be proud of themselves for the result of this drama. I know we are not really half-way through the drama just yet, but you can tell when a drama has soul and heart put into it by just episode 1 and this drama did that. Every episode continues to be even better too.

Lmao, I wonder what the opening rating on Douban will be for this drama because the 1 star and 5 stars based on some of the data I have seen are almost tied. 💀 I know the beefing between liuliang/traffic stars are bad but wow, such a shame the fans do this type of review bombing tactics over competition. I hope Filter's drama fans manage to get some of the 1 star ratings deleted because those comments are just personal attacks on the actors/actresses over their height and looks and nothing concrete about the drama itself. I did be okay with a low rating if these people actually watched the drama and point out the flaws, but these people didn't even attempt to watch. Fan competitions in these situations are ruining the C-drama industry.

Yes! Episode 14 was especially healing and didn't go for the typical route of FJ just looking pretty = now confident. Instead, she needed time and is comfortable with how she is and has the ability to back up that confidence with her expertise. It is showing a different type of beauty. I loved the way SCC was reflecting over that and had that sense of connection with FJ.

This drama is legit so fun and really keeps me on the edge of my seat.

The rainbow scene in episode 14 is ridiculously romantic. Like WOW, I can absolutely see why TQ would fall so hard in that moment. TQ was literally looking at SCC's soul in that moment.

Yup, I hope so too, I especially love the 2 episodes from today.

Yes! Sure, sometimes it is nice to just ship without giving much thoughts but when some dramas like this come along with such a great message, you just can't help but appreciate it even more.

I love that just because QSL helped FJ get a new look (aka fits the beauty standard more), it actually doesn't solve everything. Sometimes, we are at our most beautiful selves when we are comfortable and able to demonstrate our passion instead. I think it speaks to the beauty marketing of our society which almost promises women if you fit the standard (make-up, tall, skinny, etc.), your life will change and be "better". But the truth is, others' perception might change, but your own perception of self might still not change. You might even struggle with the fact that, "Oh, so people like me more now because I am now "prettier"... but my personality hasn't changed... nothing else about me changed so why didn't people like me as much before?". Though it is also true what when your appearance is "better", people are more willing to get to know you in depth and potentially later come to like your personality more than your looks.

I agree!!! Their interactions are honestly written so well. It is step by step relearning of each other from their first impressions. They are slowly starting to see each other in a positive light before they get to that romance stage.
