Are they not spending because they feel it has no chance against the big IP?! Or are they so confident it will…
Yes, apparently the one coming soon in March (I didn't read all the comments so I don't know exactly which drama they were talking about but it should be the one coming in the first week of March?)
I am all for "killing off the superfluous character" ; it feels cathartic to get rid of some opponents in video…
I am sure he will be going through it when he finds out the truth, but this is such an atypical drama that his angst process might be entirely different too. I really can't predict anything with this drama but that is what makes it so exciting!

I think they used up all the money for the drama itself, so no money left for promo, In addition, it is being discussed that Tencent has another drama coming up in which they seem to have more investment with the cast themselves, so Tencent doesn't really seem interested in having Filter blow up and blocking that other drama.
A post showing the difference in promo of Filter compared to the other 2 current airing idol dramas: xhslink.com/a/j3EEUaK4j0N6
Filter basically has like no $ spend on promotion and hiring of promo companies. 😂 Good news is that the fans of this drama are really passionate and have been spreading it themselves and introducing people to this drama. The people who were introduced to this drama are also sticking around to continue it because it is just a really fun drama.
Haha, I saw a discussion on XHS regarding SM's ending and how that it is a good twist and breaks a common trope. In a typical idol drama, when the ML has a first love, it is said the first love is studying abroad/doing something abroad. When the FL meets ML, ML is usually still pining over the first love. A common criticism of that trope is that the first love is not even dead, why can't the ML just buy a ticket and go see her LOL (and we know TQ would definitely try to buy a plane ticket if he was in that situation).

Bilibili is more about creators making videos to rant or rave about a drama. The big reviewers on Bilibili have the ability to spread a drama to non-fans and can increase a lot of views for a drama so you have production paying these reviewers sometimes (but when a drama is bad, everyone knows it so even if there is a paid positive review, users there will tear it apart knowing the specific reviewer got paid). A drama is usually certified good drama when these Bilibili reviewers praise it because tbh, it is easier to get views dragging a drama (especially idol drama since they are easy to make fun of) than praising it. Think of it like YouTube.
However, it also depends on if they can use clips but copyrights have tightened up a lot especially for certain platforms so some reviewers can't even use clips from the drama when they do reviews but have to use still pics or just texts.
XHS is kind of like IG where you can post whatever non-explicit things so users can post clip and pics easily since it is basically social media, and these platforms aren't going to go around taking those posts down that have thousands of users posting the same thing.
Douyin = TikTok and has tons of users so platforms usually promote on there because you can technically spend $$$ to buy likes/views and make them go viral.
Weibo is more text-based so think of Twitter. It is seen as more formal, so any celeb announcements are usually done on there. But again, Weibo is another platform where you can pay $$$ to get hot hashtags and has tons of water armys and fanwars.
I can’t wait until her filter involves the #4 suitor from LYF
Yes, also I think he might be the comic character that LY created for her first work. SCC might have based off of her transformation as that character. And if SCC can clone herself later, maybe one of her clones became that character too.
Great post from XHS about that very first scene of SCC with the bus pervert: xhslink.com/a/TULKXGZiPrL6
The scene parallels a scene from The Goddess/神女 (1934), but the camera angle is the exact opposite this time. In the movie scene, the camera angle was between the legs of the abuser, and you see the woman's angst.
In this drama, the camera angle was between SCC's legs and the camera pans to the pervert's face in pain instead. There has been a lot of problems in C-dramas lately where the camera focuses too much on the women in pain when they get abused/SA-ed so it makes the female characters into the "entertainment" for the viewers. It is something people have been complaining about. This scene is getting praised for being the opposite and the focus being on the abuser's face instead of the victim/survivor/fighter.
I don't think they reached that level without getting to know each other and sharing their ideaIt's pity I haven't…
There is that one behind the scenes with them during the model photoshoot scene of them playing some finger games but yeah, they haven't really drop other BTS of them together. I did see videos filmed by fans while filming of them communicating with each other since they are essentially filming the same scene over and over with the different transformations.
Review bombing. We can try to get it back up though by rating each episode and writing a comment.
I meant commenting per the episode under the tab on the top "episode guide". You can rate each episode individually through that (and it also requires a comment). That usually helps with raising back the rating overall. 😊
