Zhuang Yu was offered to do further research abroad for 1.5 years but kept this from Meiren. He tried to tell her when they were eating cake but she got drunk on peach wine. Then the controversial kiss happened. Because of a forum, ZY needed to go abroad earlier, but his phone had low battery and he wasn't able to text Meiren. At this same time, Meiren woke up happy remembering the kiss. Thinking they now have a chance for a real relationship, she invited him to meet up through text. When he didn't show up, she went to the lab and discovered that he went abroad without telling her. That's when she blocked him, feeling rejected once again. In the epilogue, the quote from the alchemist was shown which essentially says that love should not hinder one's career pursuits.

In fairness to him he did try. It was just too bad she was drunk. But still, he should have taken the time to explain. Was it too hard to call or write a letter? Having low battery in the airplane is not an excuse, he could have written a text message earlier like when he was staring at that orchid.

I think so too. He's so focused in 'saving' the world. I really hope YM doesn't forgive him too easily for being such a jerk.

This makes sense because she was drunk and maybe the censorship thinks that it would make it seem like he took advantage of her but I really wish they did not cut the scene maybe just until he kissed her back (they didn't need to show him lifting her up then laying her down) because ZY was really being a jerk. I even think that in the original plan what she remembered was him kissing her back not just her kissing his chin and that's why she's so happy coz he finally validated that he also has feelings for her. Kissing her back then basically ghosting her justified her being so angry that she blocked him. Not knowing that he kissed her back made me confused because she shouldn't have been that angry, she shouldn't have had any expectations from him coz she was the one chasing him. Knowing that he kissed her back made me understand why she said that ZY has an MO of letting one think you are in his heart then just dropping you and why she made that video that you shouldn't rely on men.

I'm with you. He's adorable whenever he's with her, just couldn't hide his crush 🥰. Sadly, she's oblivious to it. I really wish they are endgame but I'm pretty sure I'll be disappointed and tiantian will be with the lying boss

Since this might not be subbed, this is the quote from the alchemist shown in the epilogue in Ep 20

“You must understand that love never keeps a man from pursuing his personal legend. If he abandons that pursuit, it’s because it wasn’t a true love…The love that speaks the language of the world.”

So that's why she even blocked/unfriended him. Because she thought they were moving on to the next level and he just left!

It was an epilogue in Episode 3 where ZY said that he gave a free lunch service. There's a grocery epilogue after this.

I agree. At least the little brother is sincere with her.

I don't find their arc romantic either. It's condescending to people who have actual disabilities. The writers shouldn't have dragged out his pretend cripple act.

The epilogues are out now. Ep 37 is more of a narration from DFQC about their life after his revival and Ep 38 is more like a summary of CLJ. These gives the series that feeling of closure.

I agree that some actions of the FL did make me cringe, esp that trashcan scene but I have to point out that the major difference between her and Mr Wang was that he actually threatened her to go with him. I admit that the apartment break-in was iffy and she was lucky that the ML didn't really mind and called the police on her but it was excusable because she did thought she was in her own apartment. I guess it's the only way the scriptwriter was able to think of to make it look like they have a mysterious connection. The only reason I can still accept the FL is that the ML doesn't run from her when he sees her.

Now I get it. GGS and AROTLF has the same producer.

Yeah it looks like 'The Alchemist'. I think in Chinese it's titled 'The Fantastic Journey of Shepherd Boys'. In the prayer tree, their topic turned to butterflies which of one of the omens in the book 'that butterflies were a good omen. Like crickets, and like expectations; like lizards and four-leaf clovers'. Then they discussed their views on destiny. It looks like the book really made an impact on both of them.

I really loved Esther as Cai Minmin. I didn't even know her at that time but only her bus crying scene made me cry too in 'Find Yourself'. I think she's also acting as she's supposed to in AROTLF since she's also cringing at herself for her overt actions in her inner monologues.
