I recommend the one from 1995 with Carmen Lee and Louise Koo, although it probably isn't subbed. I remember watching it when I was a kid and even now I still think Carmen Lee is the prettiest Xiao Long Nu.
The only thing I have a problem with this drama is how fast some of the things were solved and how easy is was done. Also, many situations were repetitive like for real now, how many times have we seen the main girl in the same old jail cell? And got damn it, the guy is always getting hurt here and there.
I didn't watch the whole drama, just the ending, and I thought the last scene was beautiful. I pretty much figured out what the whole drama was about without having to watch it. It isn't anything special, but one thing I really liked was that it ended the way it did, or to be more specific, the ending scene where Neung is seen outside of her hospital balcony just standing there while the wind blew through her hair. It felt like the start of her beginning to heal from all the tings that happened to her (even though I think some of the things that happened was her fault and what she did was unnecessary). She was pretty pitiful though.
I actually didn't pay that much attention to the main couple's story line. I felt more attracted to Hareutai's story instead. But then there wasn't as much attention given to her which is a loss. And really speaking, I would have liked it better if she didn't really end up with neither Prince Makee or Sinthorn. I mean Sintorn compared to Makee is definitely a better human being. But Hareutai never really saw him as a lover though and more like a friend. Sinthorn was kind and helpful towards her and at the beginning they could have been something, but with the whole rape, getting pregnant, and then losing the baby, then her crazy ass parents still wanting her to marry her rapist, and along with the appending war, it just seemed like too much was already happening causing her to change and their chance of getting together was less than possible. But then again there also seem t be much more factors as to why Hareutai didn't accept Sinthorn's confession. God know's why she accepted Prince dumb-ass's proposal. It didn't seem like she liked him much and she was doing everything just so she could do what she needed to do. i think she may have accepted because she saw it as the responsibility of the new queen of Raya, that she would have to take on. Other then that I have no freak-en clue what went on in her head.
