Basically there are things called “meridians” in any kind of cultivation-y setting, which are the spiritual veins your spiritual energy is flowing through, and any time you damage your spiritual veins by doing stuff like overextending your power or taking heavy blows to it and these veins are damaged you spit blood 😂 (is my understanding), I think you basically get out of balance internally so you spit to expel the “bad”/ damaged blood and regain equilibrium again (again I could misunderstand as it’s only what I’ve got from watching dramas.)
