It's been a year since this one was rumoured to air and still nothing, unless they decide to air-drop it.

VoS will probably truly be delayed, but I am sure Youku has many other dramas to air until then.

Unveil Jadewind is rumoured to air in late February. I wouldn't be surprised if it aired first.

It's not entirely up to GJM. It also has to do with the platform and of course other aspects we may not be aware of.
His two previous ''big'' dramas, MJTY and FoF were iQiyi series and they truly aired very soon after they obtained the license. And honestly I think when it comes to platforms in general. iqiyi seems to be the most reliable.

This time, the platform is Youku and it wouldn't be weird if it got delayed. In Hidden Shadow he's a co-director and that drama has been delayed, even if it got its license many months ago. It was rumoured to air almost immediately after it got the license, but still nothing and it's been a year since then with constant changes of rumours.

VoS is an anticipated drama and they invested money to make it, they will probably air it when it is the most profitable. If it doesn't air now or February, we may see it much later.

I am not sure I will be able to wait a whole year if I got the trailer now 😂
I just hope we get some reliable news or maybe a few seconds teaser.

For me that is one of the most powerful scenes of the series. I think it served the purpose of truly understanding Li Jen Yao perfectly. Him killing the kid showed how much he truly hated himself and how much he blamed himself for what happened. It also underlined his guilt. By killing "himself" so young, nothing would have happened to Hsiao Tung.
For me the point was not to justify his actions, but understand him and see how blurry is the line between bad and good.

I'm not familiar with the original work, but yes I think they changed a lot. I personally wasn't really sold when I watched the trailer. The production quality looks pretty bad, and I don't think it'll be my cup of tea, but I will probably give it a try cause of the cast.

Hidden Shadow was supposed to air on February 2025 I believe, then they said March, then May and well it still hasn't aired 🤣

Honestly if they made contracts with him, and invested so much they better show these series. I think HS has some type of problem cause of the ML, probably nothing serious, but it got delayed. VoS supposedly would air this January but still nothing and new rumor says March. I'm not too worried about it though, since it finished filming a few months ago. And well we know about BN. I truly hope one airs soon enough 🤞

Yeap, I have also heard that republican dramas are the most difficult to pass censorship, after all it is part of their very recent history. On the other hand, I feel that the other republican dramas I am waiting for will have it easier (Overdo and Spying).

"leave the creativity alone" -> Yes, this. This could be great and they would make some fantastic series. It is truly a pity, cause even some good series have obvious cuts and that makes them feel very choppy at times.

Problem with censorship is that there are not exactly clear rules. Of course there are themes that are not really allowed and it is known, but many others are not really known and that is why many series must pass the board again and again.

I feel the same. I think partly is because of Youku too. Both FoF and MJTY were iqiyi dramas and they aired super quickly. In MJTY a supporting actor even had a scandal, but it still aired with no problems. But now expecially with this one we are waiting for ages. Same with Hidden Shadow that was also supposed to air ages ago and still hasn't seen the light of day.

I feel this one will be fine and we will watch it sooner than later, especially since it is not a highly anticipated series, it could air relatively soon. About Rosy Clouds I heard a rumour they will shoot an episode of Hello Saturday (I think) this week, so that one may air soon too. Tbh though, I feel I won't like this one at all. It's not my cup of it. I am mostly waiting for VoS and this one.

Youku is the worst when it comes to releasing dramas. I think Lai Zhan will be fine, since it is a wetv/iqiyi drama.

Yes I understand what you mean. Even though I don't really watch republican dramas, I am aware they are very tricky when it comes to censorship and there are quite a few I want to watch this year, so I'm lowkey scared.

Yeap exactly. I truly hope the cuts are not too bad. It will be such a pity. I generally hate censorship no matter the series. Them cutting scenes is always a bad thing and especially when I like a series too much, I can't help but think what it would be like if I could watch it uncensored. I truly hope they didn't ruin this one by too many cuts and I hope it airs soon enough. I missed watching TJR.

I get you, I feel the exact same. Six eps cut are too much for this particular genre, especially taking into consideration the series wasn't that long to begin with. I am mostly worried that the series may end up being incomprehensible, but I hope both of us are wrong and the cut doesn't affect it too much. If we are very lucky, they may have just increased the duration of each episode. I just hope they didn't butcher it.

Same. Only possible explanation is that there are a lot of fake ratings/reviews and they are deleting them before announcing the rating.

I think 28 eps worked perfectly for this one. It was suspenseful because of the pacing. It could certainly be a few eps more, but 50 would be too much. I don't think they chopped much. After all even before the "ban" was lifted, they could easily make it 40 eps but they chose not to.
